00:00Andy Green gets a three-year contract to become the New York Mets manager.
00:05I guess he changed his mind because it wasn't just the Mets.
00:07He made it clear he didn't want to be the manager of the New York Mets.
00:10He was doing them a favor.
00:11Yeah.
00:12Really?
00:12Yeah.
00:12And look, I think he's done a fairly good job.
00:15They've played well under him.
00:16They haven't torn the world on fire.
00:18And I would have thought they were going to be out there in the market for one of the bigger
00:21names.
00:22Alex Cora, Carlos Beltran.
00:24Carlos Beltran, who, you know, has spoken kind of at his Hall of Fame induction, at his Met Hall of
00:30Fame induction,
00:31kind of, you know, waxing poetic about the organization.
00:33Like, I thought that was going to be in consideration and to just forego talking to anyone else.
00:39And maybe they have.
00:39Maybe they did get an idea that Alex Cora did not want to be the next Mets manager or is
00:44going to go to Philadelphia, as many speculate.
00:46But, like, to turn to Green, look, he's done a decent enough job.
00:50I think he's done an excellent job communicating with the media.
00:53I think that part of the job has been really good.
00:55But the owner just spoke to Gary Cohen and SMY during the broadcast of the game on Saturday, I believe
01:04it was,
01:04talking about what he looks for the next manager.
01:06And it was kind of like, well, you know, it's more about building the camaraderie in the room.
01:11It's more about the clubhouse.
01:12It's less about putting a lineup together and less about, you know, managing a bullpen, although that's a huge part
01:17of it.
01:18It's about building confidence and putting the room in a good place.
01:22And so they must feel that that part of the issue, knowing this team has had a lot of problems
01:26with that,
01:27team is, you know, notorious over the last couple of years of having real problems inside the room between players,
01:33they must feel that Andy Green has the back of the players and that he has done a good job
01:38getting everybody to push in the right direction.
01:41And to me, I don't think anything would get done like this without Juan Soto.
01:46I think Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor have both given this guy.
01:50They also came out of left field.
01:50They were talking about David Ross, the former Cubs manager, to be the odds-on favorite.
01:55That was a report literally yesterday.
01:57I think this is, my guess is the players in the room that are going to be around, namely Lindor
02:03and Soto.
02:04And they've come out and said, we want this guy to be the manager.
02:07Andy Green obviously did a competent job here when he took over for Carlos Mendoza.
02:11Couldn't salvage the season, but I think earned everybody's respect.
02:14And I think the comments he made about the fan base reacting to Pete Alonso's home runs,
02:19I thought he was dead on.
02:21He was honest.
02:22He was in full control.
02:24He was articulate.
02:26He was smart.
02:26And I had a lot of respect for him and how he responded to the fans,
02:31obviously giving Pete Alonso all those standing ovations.
02:34So congratulations to Andy Green.
02:36And if you're a diehard Met fan, I guess this makes you happy.

02:41I don't know either.
02:42I don't know.
02:43Because I think every Met fan would at least say he's done a fairly good job.
02:48But I'm sure there were hopes of the home run hire.
02:50I'm sure there were hopes of like going to get Alex Cora,
02:53going to get another big name, or just like, I don't know.
02:56Just to turn to Andy Green, who was a non-issue before this season started,
03:01I would think some Met fans are happy.
03:03I would think some Met fans are like.
03:04Like what was the rush?
03:05Yeah, what's the rush to do this?
03:06Because he was willing to go back to the Mets front office.
03:09Is he really going anywhere else?
03:10No.
03:11Couldn't you have like put him on hold and went out and had a search
03:14and see who's out there and then maybe come back to Green?
