00:15I don't think anybody dreams of sitting in this seat this way,
00:20especially when the person walking out the door has the level of character and competence that Mindy has.
00:30I texted him this morning shortly after David informed me that he let him know I said the thing that
00:37I think is the highest compliment in baseball
00:39that I hope people say about me when it's all said and done,
00:42that, like, you're a good man who cares about people who put the organization first.
00:48I think those things are real in him.
00:51He had enough character and integrity to tell the guy who's sitting in his seat right now,
00:57thank you for everything.
00:58And he felt like a teammate from the first day until today,
01:03and he's someone who will land on his feet in an impactful way in another organization at some point in
01:10time
01:10and somebody who walks out of here with a lot of respect.
01:15I understand to a degree, probably better than anybody, what it feels like to be let go in a season.
01:21I've been there before.
01:23Everybody in the organization says it's an organization failure.
01:26It's our shortcoming.
01:27It's not just on you, but you're the one who stands out in front.
01:31You're the one who's in front of the cameras.
01:32You're the one who's on the top step.
01:34And this is the common change that occurs throughout the game of baseball,
01:37whether it's right or wrong or whatever.
01:40It's common, and I've also experienced it as a player.
01:44Bob Brinley in my rookie season was let go after winning a World Series a few years before
01:48and had an interim come in at that point in time.
01:50So I feel like I've touched every angle of this,
01:54and it's harder because of the level of respect I have for him.
02:01But he also makes it easier because of the character he has.
