00:00Listen, we said yesterday, Scott, we thought we would see some teams bounce back here.
00:06One of those teams was Dallas, who got smoked by the Giants in week one at MetLife.
00:12They returned home, took on a Washington team.
00:15And I've always said Dallas is going to go as far as that defense takes them.
00:19But I'm really not sure after the Giants gashed them for nearly 400 yards of offense and converted nine of
00:2611 third downs.
00:28I'm going, what is this?
00:29Defense.
00:31Let's see what they do against Washington.
00:33Well, what they did is they gave up 160 yards on the ground and they got gashed again against a,
00:39you know, a Washington team that had to play with Marcus Mariota in the second half.
00:44Why?
00:45Because you want to talk about coaching, head scratching, coaching moves.
00:49Why would three seconds left?
00:50Are you just not taking the points on the board on the right and being happy with a chip shot
00:56field goal?
00:56Instead, you're trying to go from the three yard line and what happens?

01:01Your quarterback dislocates his elbow again.
01:03And now he's out for the year.
01:05The whole thing from that point on, it was, it was just all gross for Washington.
01:10But again, the Cowboys can drop 40 on anybody.
01:14And we knew that the problem is, can they get enough stops in order to be able to win enough
01:20games here?
01:21And maybe, because Philadelphia doesn't look great, but they never look great.
01:25I don't know.
01:25Maybe Dallas could be the team to beat here in the NFC East.

01:30I'll tell you what I really would have done, Joe.
01:32I mentioned this on my podcast.
01:34And I was watching the game and got a sense of the sequence and everything, right?
01:37It's first down from, what, the two-yard line, literally.
01:41Maybe even the one-yard line.
01:42But 20 seconds left.
01:44So you had time to run, you know, four plays if you threw the ball.
01:47I really, knowing that Washington got the ball to start the second half as well.
01:52So I was kind of playing with house money there.
01:55And that Dallas defense was not thinking run at all.
01:58And I know if you run the ball, you're not going to, you know, there were like literally 12 seconds,
02:03not even 20.
02:04If you run the ball and you get stopped, that's going to be it.
02:07And people are going to be yelling and screaming.
02:09I get that.
02:10But I don't, there's no way, especially maybe even on second down, where you throw it on first down, the
02:16Cowboys are thinking you're going to throw it again.
02:18They would have scored.
02:19They absolutely would have scored.
02:21But all right, let's use the sequence that they actually did.
02:23They throw the ball three times.
02:25There's a couple seconds left.
02:26They go for it.
02:27Again, you kick the field goal.
02:29You go down, you know, 17, 13.
02:31And I got the ball to start the second half.
02:33We got some momentum.
02:34Let's go, right?
02:36But they decide to go for it.
02:37The guard steps on Daniel's leg.
02:39He falls to the ground.
02:40He tries to brace himself.
02:41And I don't know what the fudge happened.
02:43But obviously, it wasn't good.
02:46And I don't know if he's going to play again this season, sadly, right?
02:49Then you bring in Mariota.
02:50And, you know, Mariota, from a Dallas Cowboys standpoint, you know what?
02:54He was 11 to 16 for 111 yards and a touchdown.
02:57If not for a botched field goal and a turnover, you know, Washington may have still won that football game,
03:02even with Marcus in there versus Daniel.
03:04So, I wouldn't be too thrilled if I'm a Cowboy fan defensively.
03:08And I don't know if that's going to change, right?
03:10Barring some crazy, is Parsons ever going to play?
03:13You know, again, another guy that we keep on waiting to, you know, say, okay, let's go.
03:16Yep.
03:18But you're right.
03:18You know, if they could put 30 on the board against everyone, you're going to win some games.
03:22They're going to look great sometimes.
03:24And then they're going to look horrible, you know, other times because of that defense.
03:28So, that's a really good offense.
03:31The Cowboys offense is elite.
03:33Make no mistake about it.
03:34They can drop 30, 40 points on anybody.
03:38They are, if it isn't Ferguson, you know, you've got CeeDee Lamb.
03:43Then, you know, even I still think you had nine or ten targets in pickings.
03:48That team is, you know, they didn't even have to run the ball.
03:51They were throwing the ball all over the place there.
03:54But, again, 160 yards on the ground you gave up, and you guys were getting gashed.
03:59And that is just not, and I mean not good here.
04:02They're going to have to figure some things out there defensively.
04:06And, Washington, congratulations to your season likely over.
04:10And, oh, yeah, now you're going to have Marcus Mariota as your starting quarterback here.
04:16We thought maybe Carson Wentz would be the starting quarterback for at least a little while.
04:22But that appears to take a backseat.
04:252-0 right now, the Minnesota Vikings.
04:28And we just learned, of course, that I believe he is back.
04:33He's healthy enough to back and has already been named the starter here.
04:37Calamari is going to be the starter next week for Minnesota.

04:53You know, two wins, two division wins even.
04:55Now, was he great yesterday?
04:57No, but, you know, the weather was horrible and everything else.
04:59And they got bailed out with the swift turn over there at the one-yard line.

05:04But you got a little mojo going here.
05:06Why screw around with that?
05:08It's not like you got Kyler Murray, you know, for the next 10 years.
05:11Or he's been there for 10 years and you don't owe him anything, right?
