00:14I don't know if it's more so the Bengals' defense or how bad the Texans' offense looks.
00:20But, Tim, not a great start for the Houston Texans. 0-2 out of the gate.
00:24C.J. Stroud has not looked good at all.
00:26I know they put up points in Week 1, so I wouldn't say at all, but 0-2 against some
00:32opponents that they will probably face if they even get to the playoffs.
00:35But, hey, Jaguars lost, so maybe they do have some hope.
00:39Yeah, it's disappointing, because people came in praising the Texans.
00:46They had the 85 Bears defense.
00:49They gave up almost 35 points to Buffalo last week.
00:54And then this week they gave up 20 to Cincinnati, and then with no offense whatsoever, I'm scared for them.
01:02Like, this might be over before we know it.
01:06All these expectations about this dangerous Texans defense, if they can't beat the Bengals – no, forget that.
01:15If they can't score on the Bengals, that's a serious problem.
01:18And, like, we know the defense is going to be good, but right now the defense looks mediocre, and the
01:23offense looks atrocious as it did last year.
01:26John, I know – I think I know your answer, because we've been talking about C.J. Stroud for a
01:31while now.
01:31I'm concerned.
01:35The plight of the Texans – I mean, let me start with the Bengals first.
01:39The dilemma with the Bengals defense is that it's September.
01:43That thing – it looks good.
01:44It looks aggressive.
01:45It looks fast.
01:46Yeah.
01:47It looks active.
01:47But it's week two.
01:50As I roll over to the Texans, C.J. Stroud, you're not going to get paid, big fella.

01:59They say, hey, y'all still got that bag of money y'all was going to offer me?
02:02I mean, I'll take it, because you losing your negotiating space every game you play somehow magically,

02:17This is not good if you're the Texans.
02:19You bring in David Montgomery.
02:20He has a fantastic week last week, and this week it appears that he vanished in the thin air.
02:27I don't know if it was the play calling because of the score.

02:32Maybe it was that Bengals defense.
02:34What I do know is when I look up and we're looking at Joe Burrow, who's a franchise quarterback,
02:39with two weapons on the end, and Jamar Chase and T. Higgins, who always seem to get the job done
02:46for their guy.
02:47Now, yes, C.J.'s had his wide receivers be hurt, but if you want number one highest paid player in
02:53the history of the game
02:53because you're a quarterback money, I don't care who hurt on the outside.

02:59It's on you to drag that offense across the goal line, buddy.

03:05And with that defense, you ain't got to drag them across the line too many times,

03:18but would you say that Nico Collins being out hurts Houston just as well?
03:23I feel like even if Nico Collins wasn't there, it wouldn't have made a difference.
03:26I don't think they would have been Cincinnati.
03:29I think John diagnosed the problem.
03:31It's the quarterback.
03:33It is.
03:34And that's been their issue too.
03:35Look at the playoffs last year.
03:37I mean, my God.
03:38And it's disappointing because wasn't he like an MVP on,
03:42at least in the conversation, entering last year.

03:46Rookie year was great.
03:48And then entering last year was, oh, this is the year he's going to take the league by storm.
03:53And it's been down here, down the toilet ever since.
03:56And again, you talk about wasted potential with a team, a great head coach.

04:03I mean, like you said, Grant, with the Jaguars playing the way they are,
04:08they might not even win the division.
04:10I mean, they might have made the playoffs.
04:12So, like, it's a shame.
04:14Let me throw this in there too.
04:17This is how you get a head coach fired.

04:22D'Amico Ryan has been unbelievable.
04:27Great head coach.
04:28You score six points.
04:31Again, in the NFL, you got to be able to score.
04:35You held the Bengals, which is one of the best offenses in the league, to 20.
04:40I don't care who you are.
04:41You held them to 20.
04:43And you gave your team last week when Josh Allen played one of the greatest games you probably could see
04:48in modern-day football.
04:49You were a dropped interception away from winning that game on the defensive end.
04:53Yeah, you gave up points.
04:54But you hung in there to survive.
04:56You gave your team an opportunity to win.
04:58And what did he do at the end?
04:59Fumbled the game away.
05:00And now you come back another week, and you only put up six points.
05:04I'm saying this because what's going to get lost in the sauce is the win-loss record.
05:09And the win-loss record reflects on two people, the quarterback and the coach.
05:13And because C.J. Stroud has such a breakout year, his rookie year, any owner will go,
05:19I think we can revive that.
05:21Before they look at the head coach, D'Amico Ryan, they go,
05:23I would rather save that and let the rest of the offense, I would let the offensive vote drown
05:28to make sure we save the defense.
05:30That's not how the NFL goes these days.
05:32So you will see D'Amico Ryan's fired before you see them let C.J. Stroud go for something
05:38that they might find somewhere else in the draft.
05:39I think this might be a special case, though, when C.J. Stroud is so bad,
05:43and you know you have a wonder mind.
05:46And D'Amico, this is a rare situation where you know the star is the coach,
05:50and you know the quarterback is underperforming.
