A major fire broke out at Moscow’s Gazpromneft Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district on September 20 after a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack. Russian authorities said several drones reached the refinery, while Ukraine’s General Staff reported damage to three production units.

The refinery is located roughly 15–16 km from the Kremlin. The attack occurred as Russia’s parliamentary elections entered their final day. Claims about the effectiveness of Moscow’s air defenses and the attack’s wider purpose remain disputed.
