00:20has repeatedly clashed with the Turkish authorities over ethos to extradite Lumbuye.
00:25The political commentator faces 15 criminal charges,
00:29including incitement to violence, spreading false information, computer misuse.
00:33On Friday, thousands of Ugandans linked to the Patriotic League of Uganda,
00:38a civic and political pressure group associated with Kainerugaba,
00:42protested after the Turkish embassy in Kampala.
00:44In a statement, Army spokesman Chris Magenzi said the Uganda People's Defense Forces
00:51had immediately suspended all defense and military cooperation with Turkey.
00:55Magenzi said the measure will remain in place
00:57until outstanding defense and military cooperation issues
01:00between the two countries were resolved, but gave no further details.
01:05Uganda and Turkey have maintained close defense ties for nearly a decade,
01:09including military training, arms and surveillance equipment,
01:13technology transfers and cooperation on counterterrorism and security.
