00:22Uganda's army chief demanded one billion dollars and the most beautiful woman in Turkey
00:29as his wife. Yes, you heard that right. And it doesn't stop there. He has also threatened to cut
00:38diplomatic ties with Turkey within 30 days if his demands are not met. This is not satire. This is
00:48an official statement from one of Africa's most powerful military figures. The man at the center
00:55of this controversy is Muhosei Kainarugaba, Uganda's chief of defense forces and son of long-time
01:03president Yoweri Musaveni. In a series of posts on X, Kainarugaba claimed that Uganda deserves
01:12one billion dollars from Turkey. His reason? Uganda's long-standing military role in Somalia.
01:19For nearly two decades, Ugandan troops have been deployed in Somalia under African Union
01:26missions, fighting the Al-Shabaab militant group. Kainarugaba argues, while tricky profits from
01:33infrastructure projects in Mogadishu, Uganda has been carrying the security burden. And therefore,
01:40he says, Uganda is owed a security dividend. But what truly triggered global outrage was his
01:47second demand. He asked Turkey to send him the most beautiful woman in the country so he could marry
01:54her. A statement many have called shocking, inappropriate, and diplomatically reckless.
02:03Kainarugaba doubled down, warning that if Turkey refuses, Uganda will shut down Turkey's embassy in
02:10Kampala and cut diplomatic relations entirely. He even advised Ugandan citizens to avoid traveling
02:17to Turkey, citing safety concerns. This is not the first time Kainarugaba has made headlines for
02:24controversial remarks. Back in 2022, he offered 100 cows in exchange for marrying Italy's Prime
02:31Minister, Giorgia Meloni. So what does this mean for Uganda-Turkey relations? Right now, tensions are
02:39rising, but it remains unclear whether these statements reflect official government policy
02:44or personal rhetoric. Turkey has not yet issued a formal response. But one thing is certain. This
02:52unusual mix of diplomacy, money, and personal demands has sparked a global debate on leadership,
03:00conduct, and the limits of political messaging. And the world is watching what happens next.
