00:00Think your honey is real? It probably isn't. Honey is one of the most faked foods in the entire world.
00:07Some experts say it's the third most faked, right after milk and olive oil.
00:12And the scam is huge. Studies have found that up to one-third of honey sold worldwide is adulterated.
00:20So how do they fake it?
00:22First, they dilute real honey with cheap syrups.
00:25It's corn syrup, rice syrup, sugar syrup. It looks the same. It tastes sweet. But it's not honey.
00:34Second, they use ultra-filtering. They filter out all the pollen so you can't trace where the honey actually came
00:40from.
00:41Third, they feed bees sugar water instead of letting them forage for flowers.
00:46So technically bees made it, but it has zero nutritional value.
00:51Real honey never expires. It has enzymes, antioxidants, and pollen.
00:58Fake honey is just sweet, sticky sugar water that can spike your blood sugar.
01:02Quick check. Real honey is thick, slow-moving, and doesn't dissolve instantly in water.
01:09If it does, you got scammed.
01:12Check your label. If it just says honey blend, put it back.

Very informative. In my country, almost all cheap supermarket honey is imported and ultra-filtered. Local raw honey is the only way to go.
