A Queensland mum, who was diagnosed with cancer while she was pregnant, is revelling in the safe arrival of her baby boy. A team of doctors devised a treatment plan to save both mother and baby. And after months of careful therapy, the young mum is now in remission.

00:03Soaking in the little moments, Jaya Banks feared she would never get to experience.
00:09The 28 year old had just learned she was pregnant when she found a lump on her neck.
00:14Tests confirmed it was advanced Hodgkin's lymphoma.
00:18When you hear the word cancer you immediately think death.
00:21A host of specialists worked together to form a treatment plan to save both Jaya and her baby.
00:27There's a big team all helping make those really tricky decisions.
00:31At 15 weeks pregnant she began chemotherapy, an exhausting and emotional process.
00:37She managed like an absolute trooper and did really well through treatment.
00:42Dubbed their miracle baby, Harvey was born healthy in July.
00:46Sort of big fighter along all of the things that got thrown at us and Jaya and here he is.
00:51At a scan following his birth, the news they were wishing for, Jaya was in remission.
00:58Celebrating on the beach with their loved ones, the reality of what they could have lost started to set in.
01:06Had some cake, some champagne, a few tears, a few tears that whole day I think.
01:13A relief too for her doctors, who spent sleepless nights navigating the complex case.
01:19I think we got things right in terms of the timing of all that.
01:23And I think seeing Harvey being held in her arms, it is amazing.
01:28We should have just said, alright, let's get through it.
01:32And then at the end we'll go for a pina colada on a beach somewhere.
01:35So, we haven't done it yet, but yeah, got to book that.
