00:02Starbucks agreed Thursday to settle a discrimination lawsuit filed by Florida,
00:06pledging not to use race or sex-based quotas or preferences in hiring, promotion, and pay
00:11decisions, according to Reuters. The company denied wrongdoing and agreed to comply with
00:15Florida law under the settlement. Starbucks will pay $1 million to the Florida Department
00:20of Legal Affairs for litigation costs and submit annual compliance certifications for four years.
00:25It also agreed not to participate in organizations that require increasing racial diversity on its
00:30board. A spokesperson for Florida Attorney General James Uthmeyer said the agreement applies
00:35nationwide. The case is part of broader Republican efforts, including by the Trump administration,
00:40to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs across the private sector,
