00:00Well it's very powerful technology. It could be used for incredible things. Of
00:05course it could be used for ill. And so we have to build this technology safely
00:09and securely and responsibly. But we have to do it with, if you will,
00:15responsible optimism. Because the impact and the benefit it's going to bring to
00:20society is so incredible. It is the responsibility of the AI
00:25companies, ourselves, to develop the technology safely and to properly test it.
00:31There were incidents and those incidents thankfully did no harm. But those
00:38incidents are a reminder that as we move from labs to product development the
00:44companies have to become much more rigorous in testing and securing and
00:50making sure that the products are ready for use before it's released. And
00:55in doing so, if it's not ready, just hold it back. You should go as fast as you can but
01:01no faster than that. At the moment the incidents are related to products not
01:05ready to be released. This is no different than, you know, an omelette's not ready to
01:10be released or a car is not ready to be released, an airplane engine not ready to
01:15be released. You should properly test it. You have rigorous testing systems. The
01:19testing labs should be contained and products should not be released to the
01:24public until it's ready to be used by the public. And that's engineering. Good
01:29old-fashioned engineering is not more than that. It's not less than that. Every
01:33government should be involved. At the very minimum, every government should be
01:37involved in promoting the advancement of the technology because it has so many
01:41great benefits. Of course every government should be involved because
01:45this is such an impactful technology. AI is a technology, not a product. Unlike
01:51social media which is a product, AI is a technology that's behind all of these
01:56other tech, all of these products. And so regulate the products, keep an eye on
02:00the things that goes wrong and whenever new laws are necessary, add to the
02:06existing laws. We need energy for this next industrial revolution. The irony of it, as
02:11much as we need, need the energy, it is also the case that AI has the greatest
02:17opportunity for us to invest in sustainable energy. And the reason for
02:22that is because we need so much of it. And everybody is racing to produce the
02:27energy necessary for the AI industry. So don't forget, don't ignore that the
02:33market forces of AI can help us upgrade our aging grid, invest in sustainable energy, in a
02:41way that no, no country and no government can.
