00:04tariffs and a possible halt to trade after the Bloc proposed making Canada its first ever
00:08associate member. Trump described the proposal as a potentially hostile act, saying the U.S.
00:14could impose heavy tariffs on Europe or stop trading with the Bloc depending on its intentions.
00:19The warning came after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen invited Canadian
00:23Prime Minister Mark Carney to pursue associate membership with closer cooperation in technology,
00:28defense, and energy. Canada and the EU already have a trade agreement and several bilateral
00:32deals but relations have grown closer since Trump returned to the White House and imposed
00:37tariffs on both Canada and European allies. The proposal also comes as Trump has repeatedly
00:43criticized the EU and suggested that Canada could become the first-first U.S. state.

01:09with Europe on many things. And so if they do that, if Europe does that with a bad intention,
01:15if it's a good intention, that's fine. If it's a bad intention, we'll put very heavy tariffs on Europe.
