00:00South African President Cyril Ramaphosa did not show signs of illness during the BRICS
00:05summit in India over the past weekend. Yet when he returned to South Africa on Monday,
00:11his doctors advised him to rest and recover, according to a statement by his office.
00:16Consequently, he has temporarily stepped away from his public duties,
00:21asking ministers to represent him when fitting. It is not known what illness the South African
00:26President is suffering of. Yet the timing of the incident is unfortunate, as Deputy President
00:32Paul Machatile is also away from public duties after a minor medical procedure. The simultaneous
00:39absence of Ramaphosa and Machatile comes as South Africa enters an increasingly busy political season.
00:45Local government elections are set to take place on 4th November.
