00:00And really, what's going on with Cole, who is arguably the best pitcher over the last decade?
00:05Gary Cole, I think there's a couple of things going on here.
00:09Post-Tommy John, obviously, it's a mixed bag.
00:14You don't know what to expect.
00:15I think he's been much better than we thought he would be at this point.
00:20The problems of the last two starts are keeping the ball in the ballpark.
00:23The home runs are a problem.
00:25I think it's down to the secondary pitches.
00:28His slider and curveball, it's hard to be a four-pitch pitcher all the time.
00:33Sometimes you need to be a two-pitch pitcher when you're struggling.
00:36The wheels are spinning when he does get two strikes or when he does get in a position where he
00:41needs to throw a slider or a curveball, a knuckle curve, or a changeup.
00:45He's kind of caught in between on which pitch to use to which batter.
00:48And for me, the knuckle curve should be the left-handed batters and the slider should be the right-handed
00:53batters.
00:54And the quality of those pitches are what protect your fastball.
00:57It's sort of like, you know, you go to the Sopranos.
01:01You know, you go to protection mode.
01:03You need some protection for that fastball.
01:05And his last start, there was a lot of hard contact, a lot of 100-mile-an-hour type exit
01:11velocities off of his fastball.
01:14You
