00:00Another deal shaping up in the wake of the U.S. capture of Venezuela's former president,
00:04Nicolas Maduro. You now have billionaire shale pioneer Harold Ham's Continental Resources set
00:09to announce a deal to invest in Venezuela. The White House, of course, pushing U.S. companies
00:13to revive that nation's oil sector. Joining us now live from Houston is our senior U.S.
00:18oil reporter Kevin Crowley. So, Kevin, what do we know here about Continental and any kind of
00:24investment in Venezuela? Yeah, so this is the first major U.S. shale producer we understand
00:31will be signing a firm deal with Venezuela in the next couple of hours or so. The major players
00:40from the U.S. administration, Chris Wright, the Energy Secretary, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum
00:46are here in Houston announcing a plethora of deals. And we understand that Continental will be the
00:51will be the next one to be announced. It's a very interesting deal here. Continental is one of
00:58the largest private oil producers in the U.S., controlled by Harold Ham, who is a known Trump
01:04donor and enjoys a strong relationship with the president, going right back to his first term
01:09in office. And Ham is one of the pioneers of the shale industry here in the U.S. He's a
01:15known risk
01:16taker and he's a relentless oil bull. But he's never really done that much outside of the United
01:21States before. So this would be a very, very interesting deal once we once we see some of
01:26the details.
