Kinshasa opposition protest dispersed as clashes leave one dead

Tensions erupted in Kinshasa on Tuesday as an opposition-led demonstration against plans to change the Democratic Republic of Congo’s constitution was abruptly dispersed by security forces.

00:01Tensions erupted in Kinshasa on Tuesday as hundreds of people protested against proposed constitutional changes
00:07that critics say will allow President Philip Shisekedi to seek a third term in power.
00:14Clashes broke out shortly after the march began, well before protesters could reach their planned destination near Parliament.
00:22The opposition says at least one person died following the unrest.
00:26ADD Congo says a party member was found unconscious after the clashes.
00:31He was taken first to a nearby clinic, then transferred to Olympic Hospital, where he died later that evening.
00:39Congo's constitution currently limits presidential terms to two five-year increments.
