00:01Well, emergency crews have been fighting this fire for a few hours now but have been
00:06hampered by really strong winds and dry conditions. Residents are trying to come home are convening
00:14at the end of Richards Road in Blackmoor outside of Darwin where police have blocked access.
00:20Some residents have been able to get through to see how their homes are going while others
00:25who would have been told to wait at the access point understandably worried about their homes.
00:31One man said he's fearful for his puppy which was left at his property. There are multiple
00:36fire trucks and helicopters on the scene and small planes have been dropping water but the
00:42unfavourable conditions are keeping the fire going for now. So far police on the ground
00:47say just one property has been damaged but it could take some time before the full extent
00:52of the fire is known.
