00:00In this video, I'll show you how to cut out an object and export it with a transparent background
00:05in just a few simple steps. So, let's get started. First, go to File, Go to Place and select your
00:12image. Once the image is placed, resize it to fit your artboard. Now, open the Layers panel and
00:18create a new layer. Lock the layer containing your image. This will prevent the image from moving
00:23while we create our cutout. Next, select the Pen tool from the toolbar. Set the Fill and Stroke to
00:28None. Now, we can start tracing around the object without adding any color or outline. For this
00:34example, I'm going to trace around the parrot. If you're new to the Pen tool, you can use simple
00:39clicks and add more points around the edges to get a more accurate result. But if you're comfortable
00:43with the Pen tool, you can create smooth curves with fewer points. This will make your cutout much
00:48cleaner. Take your time here and follow the edges of the object as closely as possible. Once you've
00:53gone all the way around, click on the starting point to close the path. Now, go back to the
00:58Layers panel and unlock the image layer. Select both the image and the path. Now, press Ctrl
01:04plus 7 on Windows or Command plus 7 on Mac. This will create a clipping mask. And just like that,
01:10the background is hidden and we're left with our cutout. Now, let's export it with a transparent
01:15background. Go to File, Export, Export As, choose PNG, give your file a name and click Export.
01:22Make sure Use Artboards is checked. In the next window, set the background color to transparent,
01:29then click OK. And that's it. We've successfully removed the background and exported our parrot
01:36as a PNG with transparency, ready to place on any background. If you found this Illustrator trick
