00:00Alright, welcome back as we're live here in the drive.
00:04The Astros!
00:07No bets, Tyler. No bets.
00:10Keeping my hair the way it is.
00:12They play the Royals coming up this...
00:16What fun is that?
00:18Man, I didn't even think of it, but now that you say it, we gotta make a bet.
00:21That's one of my favorite moments we've ever had on this show.
00:24It was.
00:26I thought it was a really good look for you.
00:28It was not one of my favorites.
00:30It was a moment.
00:33If you missed it, if you're just joining us,
00:36me and Tyler made a bet several years ago that I never thought.
00:41I never thought either one of us were going to have to deal with.
00:45Oddly enough, both teams made the playoffs that year.
00:49Royals and the Stros, but only one person ended up blonde.
00:53Yeah, we made a bet.
00:55It was a four-game set.
00:56Four-game set.
00:59If either one of our teams swept the other, that one had to dye the hair blonde.
01:06Stros did it for you, didn't they, T?
01:08Yeah, they did.
01:09Three of our best starters in that series.
01:15Two of them that was able to win out of the wild card round and get us to the divisional
01:19round,
01:19but they just said, no, not in Houston.
01:24And I went to the last one, just tried to really make sure of it.
01:27I went Sunday to make sure of it.
01:29Like, all right, hold on here.
01:29I got to be in here.
01:32I knew it was a bad sign when I didn't even know until I walked in that Uli Gurriel was
01:39the newest member of the Kansas City Royals
01:42and was playing first base for them.
01:44Found out.
01:44I found out walking into the stadium.
01:47Is that La Pena?
01:49Is he getting a – what are we doing here?
01:52Standing home.
01:52Got a video for him.
01:53Had a tribute video for him.
01:54They had to dig that one out because, hell, I didn't even know he was on the team.
01:58Yep, had to die blind.
02:00The world met.
02:01Blondron.
02:02Yeah.
02:05More platinum.
02:06But, I mean, that was – yeah, I held that one.
02:09That stayed with me for about six months, I think.
02:13Let's do it again, man.
02:14No, let's not.
02:15Is that my boy wrong?
02:15No.
02:17We got to come up with some.
02:18Tyler, we don't – no, we do not have to come up with –
02:20Tyler can have to dye his beard.
02:21How about that?
02:23No.
02:23No, I'm not betting.
02:24It's one-sided.
02:26So, no, I mean, that would be the flip side of it.
02:28Ron's head, your beard.
02:29No, I'm not dying my hair again.
02:31It's over.
02:32All right?
02:34Okay.
02:35I'm the only one who does bets.
02:38Jumping out of planes.
02:39Well, yes.
02:40Taking off my clothes.
02:41I do them every day.
02:42During the World Cup.
02:44Well, I mean, if you don't want to bet your money, you've got to have your fun somehow.
02:48The showman.
02:49All right, they got a – they got a – they got 12 to go.
02:52They are 75-75, one game up on the Rangers after that sweep to the Rays, the team with
03:00the best record in the American League.
03:01And they're really – they're up two because if they finish tied, they have the tiebreaker
03:07over the Rangers.
03:08So, they really – they just need to finish tied with the Rangers.
03:12So, really, they've got a two-game lead, to be honest.
03:16But their remaining schedule, they've got three against the Royals, three against a really
03:20good Braves team, two at Seattle, and then four in Sacramento against the A's.
03:25The Rangers, they've got Boston for three at home, Toronto for three at home, the Mets
03:30at home for three, and then they go to Minnesota.
03:32So, that's what – each team has 12 games left.
03:37And we'll see what happens here.
03:40And I just – I just want to get – because I see some people texting in with their thoughts.
03:45With everything that's happened this year, they've had to fire their general manager
03:48in Dana Brown.
03:49They had to allow Dana Brown to make a lot of weird moves.
03:53Emai, they brought over, and now he has just been a – we're getting our ass kicked,
03:58or we're kicking ass guy.
03:59Come on in.
03:59Man, several guys that he brought that are just not even able to be on the team anymore.
04:06That Weiss Weiss guy, I mean, he had been gone.
04:09He'd been gone for a long time.
04:10They've had some injuries here.
04:12They've had to just come together with starting pitching.
04:16I mean, they had to dig up Brent Strom to bring him back in here and wheel him in
04:22in a wheelbarrow.
04:23And it's just – they've had a lot of issues.
04:28If they make the postseason, do you – and this is with this team that has had the
04:34expectations, that has done the things that it's done, this team and the Dodgers have
04:39been the best organization in the last decade.
04:45If they make the postseason, does that make this season a success with everything that's
04:50happened here?
04:51No.
04:53So just making the postseason for this team, Mitten?
04:56No, I mean –
04:56Tyler, are you there too?
04:57No.
04:57You have made the postseason.
04:58Hell no.
04:59You got a chance to make the postseason just because everybody around you is so damn bad.
05:03We hang banners in this city.
05:04Making the playoffs ain't good enough.
05:06I mean, the reason you're making the playoffs is because you've been good against 500 teams
05:11and the entire – the entire American League is pissy poor damn near.
05:17So, yeah, I think you got to get in the playoffs.
05:19You're not adjusting your expectations for this team?
05:22No, no, no.
05:23I mean, you got to at least be competitive in the playoffs.
05:26You can't just be happy with getting there.
05:29That ain't good enough.
05:30I don't know, man.
05:31I mean, I'm not saying you got to win a series the way it goes.
05:34I'm saying you got to get there and be competitive.
05:35I'll see you in October.
05:37I understand the expectations, Tyler, of this team.
05:42But, I mean, you got to look at this team different.
05:43This isn't a 19 team.
05:45This isn't a 21 team.
05:46Man, they are – I mean, they are crawling to the – I mean, they got –
05:50they're just digging up guys who just got off Tommy John to pitch to roll up in here.
05:54Text line coming in, Ron.
05:55I've been an Astros fan since they were the Colt 45s.
05:59And I –
06:01Wow.
06:01And from what I can tell you is it's football season.
06:04I have zero excitement or interest in the Astros.
06:06I think this team's a mess.
06:08Thank you, Jim Crane.
06:10Ordinarily, you would think we win the division, it's a successful season.
06:14But when you're a 500 team and you play in the worst division in baseball,
06:18you are just lucky not successful.
06:22I don't disagree with all his points.
06:25But the reality of it is is they've been really good against the better teams that they faced,
06:30which I think is a plus.
06:33And at the end of the day, I mean, it's – they're going to be given the opportunity to be
06:39in the playoffs.
06:39I mean, if they miss their bed, if they miss this bed, good God.
06:42Yeah.
06:43Now, if they –
06:44Now, listen, they did it last year.
06:45You've got to be competitive when you get there.
06:47You can't just make the playoffs and Hunter Brown get the wheels beat off of
06:50and get ran in the third or fourth inning and be like, oh, well, we got here.
06:53No, I mean, if you get beat in a series, cool, that's fine.
06:57I get it.
06:58But you've got to be competitive.
06:59If this team gets to pop champagne, man, hey, y'all did it, man.
07:05They get to pop champagne like the Dodgers and them did last night, the Yankees, man.
07:10Y'all did it.
07:10For winning the division?
07:11Yes.
07:12Or getting in the playoffs.
07:13You know, they just – they let you pop champagne.
07:14Just clenching.
07:15Yeah, just clenching.
07:16They'll let you pop for anything.
07:18But, I mean, no, man.
07:19This group with Joe, Joe is confused.
07:24I'm trying to do the best I can.
07:25Every day, he's confused.
07:28Oh, man.
07:30I mean, this – I hear you.
07:33I'm with you.
07:33I'm with you when they had Framber and Hunter as a one-two punch.
07:37They had this – man, this group here, man.
07:40Peter Lampard's their best pitcher in this season.
07:43That's all right.
07:43You get Lowe's back.
07:45We ain't even talking about that.
07:46You get Lowe's back.
07:47This lineup gets a little deeper.
07:48As Tyler says, he'll believe it when it's season.
07:50Diaz is swinging a good bat.
07:52He is, man.
07:53I mean, bottom of your lineup will be Diaz and Cam.
07:56Big, big, big bat Cam.
07:59I mean –
08:00Did you say big bat?
08:01Yeah.
08:01Yeah, not bat.
08:03I know, big bat.
08:04You're workshopping here, aren't you?
08:04I'm workshopping here, yeah.
08:06You want something for Cam, don't you?
08:07Yeah, yeah.
08:08It's – yeah, I mean, I could get down with that.
08:11And the pitching's going to be – the pitching's going to be a bit of a challenge.
08:14Sure it is.
08:15Pitching and more pitching.
08:16Text line coming through, Tyler.
08:18We're the Houston Astros.
08:19We don't just celebrate getting into the playoffs.
08:22Man, we can do that.
08:22I think they – I definitely think they should suck pot bottles whenever they clinch, yes.
08:27I know you've been the Houston Astros, but this is – this is like –
08:33y'all told – I don't know if you were there to tell me,
08:35but I definitely know Tyler and Brandon.
08:37Flat told me the golden era is over.
08:39So I just feel like we can't be having the same expectations
08:43as if they're still in the golden era.
08:45Time to start another one.
08:46We don't.
08:47It's a silver era.
08:48But if that were the case, we'd be telling you.
08:51Yeah, we'd be telling you it's – the window's open.
08:54You've got to go win it all.
08:55All I'm saying is you've got to show up in a series.
08:592006 –
08:59He won't do.
09:012006 Cardinals, 83-79, won the World Series.
09:04I got – I know that one time.
09:07But I mean, like, again, Yordan is leaking oil the way I was on the 15th hole in Michigan.
09:14Yes.
09:15Yes, he is.
09:17Yes, he is.
09:18I mean, asking Yordan to complete a full season,
09:21everything worth the baseball is just –
09:22Hunter is carrying a blanket around.
09:26Like, I mean, just –
09:27I was kind of dragging my blanket.
09:28Yeah, he's dragging his blanket.
09:30I mean, I just – this – you guys make it in.
09:34They hold off the Rangers.
09:37Everything else is gravy to me.
09:39Get to host a home playoff game?
09:41Yeah, and we're going to be competitive.
09:43We're not just going to roll out there and take our ass whooping
09:46and go home and be happy about it, Ron.
09:48I don't want to say you'd be happy about it.
09:50That's not the Astro way, son.
09:51I don't want to say you'd be happy about it.
09:51It's a success.
09:52No.
09:53Just like last year for A&M football was a success.
09:56All right.
09:57Right?
09:58Last year was a success.
09:59Sorry.
10:00I just – I immediately was panicking, getting ready to be angry.
10:03It was a success.
10:04Yes, you lost at home.
10:06See, I don't even want to say that.
10:08It is.
10:08That was a successful season.
10:1111-0 to lose two games.
10:13A&M is not the Astros' golden hair.
10:15No, I wouldn't say it's a success.
10:17No.
10:19Yes, it was.
10:20No.
10:20And you want to know what else was a success?
