00:00Let me be unmistakably clear. Illegal voting in our federal elections is a
00:05crime. Falsy claiming US citizenship is a crime and both will be prosecuted
00:13every single time in this district. Federal elections belong to American
00:19citizens period. Anyone who is not a citizen and who chooses to cast a
00:25ballot or claim citizenship falsely is breaking the law. We cannot and will not
00:33allow that to stand. When individuals intentionally violate the rules that
00:40safeguard our democracy, then that weakens every lawful vote cast by our
00:46great citizens. Over the past week, six defendants by my office were indicted and
00:52another charged by criminal complaint. Arrests have already been executed. As
00:58of this morning, we got the last individual and illegal from Mexico.
01:04The announced charges include voting by an alien in a federal election, falsely
01:10claiming US citizenship to register to vote, as well as making false
01:15statements and naturalization applications. Here are some of the
01:19facts. Several defendants knowingly and deliberately lied on voter registration
01:24forms, provisional voter affidavits, and even driver's license applications by
01:31falsely claiming to be in fact US citizens. Multiple multiple defendants
01:36unlawfully cast ballots in the November 2024 election. One defendant defendant Alba, who
01:43is an illegal alien from Mexico, who was previously deported and a convicted felon for
01:50passport fraud. Yes, previously a convicted felon voted illegally in the 2024
01:56election and also lied on a federal form. And in other cases, even when
02:02provisional ballots were ultimately rejected, the act of casting them were
02:06still unlawful under Texas and federal law.
