Step into the world of BLACKWOOD, a gritty third-person action thriller that blends smooth, responsive combat with cinematic storytelling.

By day, you are a seemingly ordinary store owner, managing your small DVD shop in an authentic recreation of New York, 2012. When night falls, you descend into the city’s underworld as a contract killer, caught between survival, morality, and a past that refuses to stay buried.

00:01Before you jump into Blackwood, here are a few things you'll want to know.
00:12Pay attention to your ammo. Blackwood keeps track of the round in your chamber, so if there's still one loaded
00:17when you reload, you'll have an extra shot.
00:19You can also hold R at any time to check how much ammo you have left. This becomes especially important
00:25on the hardest difficulty, where your ammo count isn't displayed.
00:28If your weapon runs out completely, Anton will throw it. And if you're out of ammo altogether, get close, perform
00:33a takedown, and take the enemy's weapon instead.
00:36Switching weapons is faster than reloading. If your rifle's magazine runs out in the middle of a fight, Anton can
00:42keep it in one hand while immediately drawing his secondary with the other.
00:46This lets you stay on the offensive instead of stopping to reload in the middle of a fight.
00:51Takedowns are a big part of Blackwood's combat. If there's something nearby Anton can use, an environmental takedown will trigger
00:57automatically.
00:59If you want to avoid using environmental takedown, you can hold F and Anton will perform a normal takedown instead.
01:05When you perform a dive, your momentum matters, meaning the faster Anton is moving, the further he can dive.
01:11When you aim your weapon during a dive, time slows down. This gives you a brief window to line up
01:16your shots before you hit the ground.
01:18In Blackwood, we want players to pay attention to what's around them.
01:21We designed the environments in Blackwood to play a bigger role in combat. The environment isn't just a duration.
01:26You can shoot objects to create openings, bring things down onto enemies, or turn certain objects into weapons.
01:32Combat is designed around aggression. Cover will keep you alive, but sitting behind the same wall isn't always your best
01:38option.
01:38Takedowns restore some of Anton's health. Getting aggressive can be more rewarding than staying back.
01:43The more you understand how these systems work together, the more options you'll have during a fight.
01:48There are different ways to get weapons in Blackwood.
01:51Civilian weapons purchased online are more restricted, generally limited to single-fire mode.
01:56The black market gives you a few more options, including military variants, fully automatic weapons, and illegal modification.
02:02You can also collect different weapon builds throughout the game and display your favorites in Anton's basement.
02:08Just remember, your display collection and your actual mission loadout are separate.
02:11If you want to get comfortable with the gunplay before taking on harder missions, visit the shooting range.
02:16You can practice your aim, work on faster target acquisition, and run shooting drills.
02:21Health works a little differently too. Anton doesn't simply regenerate back to full health after every fight.
02:26Instead, his health recovers to the nearest health state. If you need more, you'll have to find another way to
02:31recover.
02:32Between missions, you'll spend time at Anton's home. You can change outfits, listen to music, organize your collection, and prepare
02:38for your next mission.
02:39When Anton places an order online, different items are delivered to different locations.
02:43Clothes are delivered to your home. DVDs go to the DVD store. Weapons go directly to the basement.
02:48When you've finished exploring or preparing for the next mission, make sure to return to your apartment and sleep before
02:53concluding your day.
02:54If you quit without sleeping, any progress you made since your last sleep will be lost.
02:58We hope these tips give you a better idea of how some of the game systems work and help you
03:02get the most out of them when you start playing.
03:05Wishlist Blackwood on Steam and stay tuned for more updates.
