00:07Imagine you're driving alone at night, when suddenly you see something standing in the road.

00:11Your first instinct might be to slow down, maybe even stop, but don't. Because as you're about

00:17to see, sometimes the safest thing you can possibly do is stay inside your car. So from

00:23unexplained figures appearing on desert roads, to encounters where stopping could have ended

00:27very differently. And finally, one terrifying flash in the sky, where what you do in the next few

00:33seconds could save your life. If you see any of these things while driving. Now I'll tell you what

02:44There is nothing quite as terrifying as driving at night and suddenly seeing someone in the middle of

02:48the road, but that is exactly what happened to a motorist on Route 85 in Hopkinton, Massachusetts

02:54in June 2016.

02:57The dash cam footage shows an individual wearing what appears to be a construction vest and helmet.

03:02As a car approaches, it swerves to avoid the person who steps out from the woods, raises one hand and

03:08seems to be

03:08holding a shovel in the other. Take a look at this creepy recording.

03:18Unsurprisingly, after the video was uploaded by the driver to Reddit, it went viral and police got

03:22involved to try and establish the identity of the suspicious man. The driver believes the man was

03:28also wearing a Halloween mask and confirmed there was a construction going on along the road at the

03:32time. He theorized it could have been a worker trying to scare people, but acknowledged that it

03:37was a dangerous thing to do. Viewers of the video noticed that the man didn't even flinch as he walked

03:41in front of the camera, which many found creepy. One viewer shared an unsettling story about a

03:47similar incident that happened to them 30 years ago. They had stopped their vehicle because they

03:51thought they might have hit someone who walked out in front of their car, when suddenly three men

03:55appeared out of nowhere trying to unlock the car doors. Thankfully, the doors were locked and the

04:00driver quickly drove away. It was clear that the men were attempting to steal the car or something worse,

04:05and they advised anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to never stop.

04:10Now, we're not sure what to make of the video. Some have suggested it's AI, although police obviously

04:14do not think it is, as there was an official news report and they are urging people to get in

04:18touch

04:18if they know who the man is.

04:26Route 87 Ghost

04:29Dashcam footage can be among the creepiest of unexplained footage. It's hard to manipulate and

04:33often shows weird anomalies on the road, particularly at night. While in this piece of footage, a truck driver

04:39felt the shock of his life whilst driving on Arizona State Route 87, when he noticed a figure standing

04:44motionless on the roadside. He later checked his dashcam footage, and it captured this.

04:57The driver said there were no other vehicles in sight, and described the object as resembling a standing human figure.

05:05He made no attempt to stop, and certainly was not about to get out of his vehicle.

05:10What would you have done in this situation?

05:18What did he want?

05:20This piece of footage highlights the dangers a woman may face while driving alone,

05:24emphasising the importance of remaining inside the vehicle for safety.

05:28In the video I'm about to show you, a male driver had previously evaded a police stop,

05:32in Wai, approximately 40km from the New South Wales central coast in Australia.

05:38After he failed to comply with the police's request, a pursuit was initiated, which continued

05:42through several suburbs in the central coast.

05:45However, the situation took a darker turn, when after officers were unable to catch him,

05:50the same SUV was captured in unsettling dashcam footage.

05:54The recording shows the man standing next to his car, appearing to wave on a white truck

05:58as it passes by, before moving into the middle of the road, to try and stop the next car,

06:03directing it to pull over.

06:04In that car was a lone female, driving home along Rutley's Road.

10:17Since this footage emerged many years ago, it has never been fully explained and is not even certain to have

10:23been filmed in Saudi Arabia.

10:25The Djinn of Al-Ramtha is actually a well-known urban legend in Georgian folklore that describes a ghostly figure

10:31or djinn haunting isolated roads after midnight.

10:34Local stories depict this figure appearing late at night, often sifting between the form of a mysterious woman in a

10:40white wedding dress and that of an elderly woman, startling late-night travellers and drivers.

10:46Other variations of the tale suggest that a bride was claimed or abducted by the Djinn on a wedding day,

10:52vanishing under mysterious circumstances.

10:55This story is passed down through generations as a cautionary ghost story within the community.

10:59There are suggestions that the being in question might be some kind of witch, although it's important to note that

11:05in Saudi Arabia, sorcery and witchcraft are practices punishable by death, so if this was a genuine witch or even

11:11a prank, those involved are certainly taking a significant risk, leading many to believe that if it was filmed in

11:17Saudi Arabia, then it's less likely to be a hoax.

11:21Reportedly, the following day, the police officers returned to the area and concluded a thorough search, but found no trace

11:27of the woman.

11:28Now many believe that the officers' reaction appears genuine.

11:32Additionally, the drivers' choice to go off-road to evade whatever the individual was doing, many say adds to the

11:37credibility of the situation.

11:39Now we wish we knew more about this footage, but after extensive research, we really can't find much about it,

11:45just adding to the mystery.

11:47What's your thoughts on the footage?

11:55Now I want to finish this video on a hypothetical situation that could actually happen, and is pretty terrifying.

12:02Imagine you're driving along a quiet road at night, when suddenly, without warning, the entire horizon lights up.

12:08For a moment, the sky becomes unbelievably bright, and then nothing.

12:13No explosion, rumbling or shockwave, just silence.

12:17Now your instincts might be to stop the car, open the door and step outside to find out what just

12:21happened.

12:22But that flash was caused by a nuclear detonation, and those first few moments are extremely important.

12:28Light travels at almost 300,000 kilometers per hour, meaning the flash from an explosion reaches you effectively instantaneously, but

12:35the blast wave travels much slower.

12:38Depending on how far away the detonation occurred, there can be a significant, and unsettling gap between seeing the explosion

12:44and experiencing its blast wave.

12:46I'll break down some distances for you.

12:48Let's say you're driving through Virginia at night, around 40 miles from Washington DC, when a 50 megaton Tsar bomber,

12:55the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated, hits Washington.

12:58You'd see the flash virtually instantaneously, but you might not feel the blast for a few seconds to up to

13:04a minute later, depending on your exact distance and location.

13:07But this isn't just speculation.

13:09The US government nuclear response guidance has previously estimated that at around 20 miles or 32 kilometers from a 10

13:16kiloton nuclear detonation, more than 60 seconds could separate the flash from the arrival of the air blast.

13:22Now the bomb detonated over Hiroshima had a yield of roughly 15 kilotons, but nuclear weapons have since been built

13:29on an unimaginable scale beyond that.

13:31The Soviet Tsar bomber had more than 3,000 times the explosive yield of Hiroshima.

13:37So think about that.

13:39You see a flash, nothing appears to have happened.

13:42You get out thinking something even supernatural has occurred.

13:45Then all of a sudden a huge nuclear shockwave hits you.

13:48So if an unexplained, overwhelmingly bright flash suddenly fills the sky, stop the vehicle.

13:55Turn away from the flash if possible.

13:57Close and cover your eyes, and get yourself below the level of the windows.

14:01Protect your head and exposed skin, and stay there until the initial heat and shockwave has passed.

14:06Because the silence does not mean you're safe.

14:08It simply means the blast hasn't reached you yet.

14:11Now after the wave has hit you, your car is only temporary protection.

14:14Official guidance is to get inside the nearest substantial building as quickly as possible.

14:18A basement is best, or the center of a large brick or concrete building.

14:22Putting as much material and distance as possible between yourself and the outdoors.

14:27Cars provide poor protection against radioactive forehead.

14:30So the rule here isn't simply never get out of the car.

14:33It's never get out of the car until the wave has passed.
