00:00West New York's number one Kia dealer shop online at NorthTownKia.com.
00:04Tom is in Lakeview.
00:05Hey, Tom, you're on WGR.
00:07Hey, gentlemen.
00:08Just want to congratulate you guys on your first show here today after a big dub.
00:13And, you know, the other caller from Connecticut was talking about,
00:16and he's giving guys nicknames, right?
00:17And I've been a big Star Wars dork my whole life.
00:20And this Deion Walker, I mean, he's the Imperial Walker to me, the ad-ap.
00:25He's bringing everybody with him.
00:28All Terrain, all troops.
00:30Let's keep this guy moving.
00:32And if we could put that on a T-shirt, I'd definitely buy it.
00:35So just like to hang up and listen, fellas.
00:37Thank you and have a great day.
00:38All right.
00:38Appreciate it.
00:40I'm going to skip the Star Wars stuff.
00:42I want this to be cooler than that.
00:43I love Star Wars.
00:44I'm fine with it.
00:45You know what?
00:46I liked it when I was a kid.
00:47And then there were people who were adults that got really into it.
00:51Like the Phantom Menace was coming out.
00:53Come on.
00:54I'm in college.
00:55I'm not a little kid anymore.
00:57But then I had kids, and then they were into Star Wars.
00:59So then I watched all of them, and I got into it.
01:01It's awesome.
01:02Yeah.
01:02It was great.
01:03They're fun.
01:03It's allowed to be fun.
01:05I love that idea, though.
01:06I think that it's very funny.
01:07His face on like an AT-AT would be a really good T-shirt.
01:11You go AT-AT?
01:12Because I go ad-at.
01:13Oh, I'm AT-AT all the way.
01:14Okay.
01:15Yeah.
01:15You're probably right.
01:17We didn't have reference points.
01:18We just saw the movies and then talked about them.
01:20Right.
01:20We didn't have the internet and stuff to tell you you're doing something right or doing something
01:24wrong.
01:24There weren't 7 million podcasts about Star Wars.
01:26There were no podcasts.
01:27There were very few Star Wars podcasts in 1980.
01:32Very few.
01:33803-0550.
01:34John, you're on WGR.
01:36What's up?
01:37Hi.
01:38Congratulations.
01:38You guys forget the jersey.
01:41It was a long preseason for you, but you guys deserve it.
01:44Thanks.
01:45I'm happy for y'all.
01:48Don't let it go to your head, Owen, but you might be the best darker on the radio.
01:53Oh, boy.
01:55This is going to be a thing now.
01:57See, I've got to pass over with the old man every day now because I'm done it, too.
02:04And Brad, you're the automatic comeback player of the decade.
02:10You were the new generation, and you should have never left, but you're back now, and that's
02:15all that matters.
02:15That is all that matters.
02:17And Tim, I love to, his literacy, his deadpan, his sarcasm.
02:25Beautiful thing.
02:26It translates here to the radio.
02:28I think so, too.
02:29Let me sell you on Kincaid.
02:31Yeah.
02:32I think you confuse availability with ability.
02:35I think his ability is over the top.
02:37Yes, he can't stay healthy.
02:40That's a difficulty for him.
02:42But if you look at his numbers, and I'm not going to go well in key stats, he's looked pretty
02:47good in the playoffs when he's been available.
02:49His numbers are pretty, you know, sorry, I got my GPS on there.
02:54His numbers are pretty good, like average watch for catch.
02:57He's the guy that stretches him.
03:00He was a playmaker when he was out there.
03:02So I just think that he, you know, is going to be better if he stays healthy than, you know,
03:09he's not called, what do you call it, Hall of Famer.
03:13And we shouldn't confuse him with that, but I think he's going to be a game changer if he
03:17stays healthy.
03:18Sure.
03:19And I mean, have you seen it before?
03:21Because the way you're talking, it's as if you've watched Dalton Kincaid look like that
03:25and then get hurt.
03:27And that's been the problem.
03:28I've never seen him play a game remotely similar to the one that he played yesterday.
03:33And this is not me knocking him.
03:34I've just been wondering what everyone else is seeing that I'm not.
03:38And then I saw it and went, oh, that.
03:40But like, do you feel like you've seen that before?
03:42Yeah.
03:43I think you've missed a couple of games where he just stretches this field.
03:47Like, I just don't think it was in our repertoire that much.
03:51And I think when he got his chance and was 100% healthy, he did do that.
03:55I don't really think that he just got used enough.
03:59And some of it was injury and some of it might just be like a previous offensive mindset.
04:06So I do see like glimpses of it.
04:09Yet we, I think Owen said sample size.
04:12And I think that's where we are just getting confused on him because I just don't think there
04:18ever is a consistent sample.
04:21Like, even when we see it, then it disappears because there's an injury on the next play
04:26or something.
04:26And he's out for a couple of games.
04:28So I just think that, yeah, to me, he looks like such a game changer.
04:34We've just seen stuff.
04:35And he's done that just in little flashes.
04:38And I just think that's there.
04:40And Josh loves that.
04:41Yeah.
04:41Oh, he loves it.
04:42He loves it.
04:43Everybody loves it.
04:44I just, you're saying we see it.
04:46Like, I saw it yesterday.
04:47I didn't see it before yesterday.
04:49I'm not arguing with you.
04:50I want everyone to be right.
04:52I'm rooting for this team.
04:53I'm rooting for that guy to be the weapon that I keep hearing he is.
04:57And yesterday he looked like that.
04:58And if this is simply, oh, his PCL has been bothering him for two years, but now it's
05:04fine.
05:05Awesome.
05:05Then keep him upright.
05:07And this team is a different team in the passing game.
05:10If he is the thing that I've been hearing he is, I can picture more plays made by Robert
05:15Foster in the passing game with the Buffalo Bills than I can with Kincaid until yesterday,
05:20where I can right now picture three of them.
05:22Yeah.
05:23So I think that the sample size, I've got some numbers here to back up my and the caller's
05:29point about he has shown this ability in his time on the field.
05:33It just hasn't been on the field that much.
05:36Dalton Kincaid last season averaged 2.79 yards per route run.
05:41It's the best rate of how many, every time he goes out to run a route, how many yards
05:46does he catch every time he does that?
05:49And he averaged 2.79 as the best in the league among tight ends.
05:53So he was extremely efficient.
05:55That number sounds terrible.
05:56I know, but it's not every time he caught a ball.
05:59It's every time he went out there and ran.
06:00I get it.
06:01But you know how good this guy is?
06:03He's averaging 2.79 yards every time he goes out for a pass, even if he doesn't catch
06:07the ball.
06:09But that's the thing is that he wasn't out there all the time.
06:13And he was rarely out there.
06:14Whether he was healthy or not, he was also only playing 40% of the snaps for the Bills.
06:19He wasn't playing enough to make those numbers over a full sample size look big.
06:25And that's why I think maybe there's not the sort of dominant games like we saw yesterday
06:31against the Texans.
06:31His number against the Texans yesterday was 5.65.
06:35It's a much bigger number than his 2.79, which led the NFL last year.
06:40So it is another level, what we saw yesterday.
06:43That is a step up.
06:45But that potential, I think, has always been within him.
06:48And I think if you were really looking for it, you knew that it was there.
06:52It just wasn't utilized.
06:54Whether it was because the Bills chose not to have him on the field or because he wasn't
06:58available health-wise, but it was sort of always flashing and bubbling underneath the
07:03surface.
07:04I guess I maybe needed to see, because I wasn't looking hard for it because I didn't think
07:08there was anything there to see.
07:11I keep hearing about it, and I know for a fact that my eyeballs are not going to pick
07:15up.
07:16It seems like this guy's averaging like 2.79 yards per time he runs around.
07:20I'm not going to pick that up.
07:21I need something like yesterday for me to see a year from now.
07:26I'm not going to jinx it.
07:28A year from now when he's a little bit banged up, I go, oh man, I can tell he's not
07:32what
07:32he used to be.
07:34We've never seen this before during his career.
07:38You can say there were flashes, but there's never been a game where it's like, whew, good
07:42thing they had Kincaid today.
07:43That's a giant reason they won the game.
07:46And I don't want this to come off like I'm bashing him.
07:48I've been waiting for it, and I saw yesterday what I keep hearing about.
07:52And man, I hope that sticks around, because it's awesome.
07:56803-0550, we connect with the fans, courtesy of Northtown Kia on WGR Middays, driven by Northtown.
08:02Let's go to Mike next.
08:03Mike, you're on WGR.
08:05Hey, guys.
08:06Shout out to y'all.
08:08You guys make my six-hour drive every Monday morning the shortest six hours around.
08:16I couldn't make this drive as more enjoyable if it weren't for you guys being on the radio.
08:22I'll bite.
08:22What's the six-hour drive?
08:24What's the six-hour drive every Monday?
08:25I need to know.
08:26Oh, it's from Tunica, Mississippi, just south of Memphis, to Gulfport, Mississippi.
08:33Okay.
08:34And I work there Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
08:36So every Monday, I've got to get behind the wheel drive six hours, and this is all I do is
08:43listen to WGR.
08:45Well, that's awesome.
08:46Yeah, thank you, Mike.
08:47We appreciate you very much.
08:48There was no part of me that pictured Mississippi being involved in this conversation.
08:52It made it better to me somehow.
08:53All right, Mike.
08:54What's on your mind?
08:54Well, all right.
08:56I just want to go back to the kicking game and give a shout-out to Bass.
09:02You know, he put up one-third of our points, 12 points.
09:06And if we had had the kicking game we had last year, we might have lost.
09:11Last year, we missed a givey, a makeable field goal, and an extra point.
09:16Had we made those at the end of the game, we were in field goal range, and we would have
09:22won.
09:23So shout-out to Tyler Bass for being absolutely perfect and putting one-third of our points on the board.
09:31Yeah, let's hear it for Tyler Bass.
09:33Again, if there are two names that have come up during this offseason, specifically when I'm on with Tim,
09:38it's, I don't know about this Kincaid, and I don't know about this Bass.
09:42And again, nothing against him.
09:45Bass was fine.
09:46He's been fine his whole career.
09:48There have been moments you're happy he's on the team, and there are moments you're like,
09:51I don't trust putting this guy out there.
09:54Then he got hurt.
09:55Then he missed a year.
09:56Then they came to camp with only one kicker and told us it would be okay.
10:01And then he wasn't really, nobody would see him kick, and it was kind of dicey.
10:06Yesterday was good.
10:07I will take it.
10:08There was one extra point that was a little scary that kind of failed and tucked in.
10:12A little sketchy, yeah.
10:12Good miss is a good miss.
10:13That's okay.
10:13Yeah, you can do that.
10:15That's fine.
10:15Yeah, very pleased that he looked comfortable and confident, really, more than anything.
10:21Like, if he kicked and looked like, ugh, the pelvis issue he had looked like it was bothering
10:27him, I would have felt a little wonky, but it looked like he was totally normal.
10:31There's nothing I like better about yesterday's game than Tyler Bass's pelvis.
10:36I mean, you couldn't have, you took the words right out of my mouth, Brad.
10:40I know.
10:41I did.
10:42Specifically, you said pelvis, and then I just shot it right back at you.
10:44Okay, we're going to take a break, and we'll be right back.
10:47It is Middays, driven by Northtown, Brad Reiter, Owen Parker, WGR.
