At least 129 missing after Indonesian passenger ship capsizes

Indonesia's search and rescue agency (BASARNAS) releases aerial footage of the Virgo Transport 8 passenger ship that capsized in Indonesia's Java sea on Sept. 13, 2026, killing at least six people and leaving another 129 still missing. Crews managed to rescue 108 people from the ship and were still searching for any other survivors, Indonesia's search and rescue agency said. The ship set sail with 243 people, including 30 crew members, from the East Java city of Surabaya on Saturday, the search and rescue agency added.
