00:00Hi, we're the cast of Slow Horses, and today we're speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.
00:21Hi, I'm Saya Rankin. I am here with the cast of Slow Horses.
00:25Do you want to give us the spiel for what people can expect in Season 6?
00:30We first discover that we're not being paid, and then Lamb says, well, you need to look into this.
00:41And Standish here, Saskia, discovers that we've been completely removed.
00:47Oh, no, it's Ho. We've been completely removed from the database.
00:51We don't exist anymore.
00:52We don't exist.
00:54You've got a ghost protocol.
00:57And then two ex-Slow Horses from the past just suddenly, mysteriously die.
01:05And then we kind of figure out that there is a hit list, and that they are targeting Slow House,
01:18and that one by one we will methodically be eliminated.
01:24That was a good spiel.
01:27That was okay.
01:28I can tell why you have that EP credit.
01:30That was great.
01:33Are you excited about the Emmys?
01:35Yes.
01:35Yes.
01:36Yes.
01:36We got nine nominations.
01:38Nine nominations.
01:39Nine.
01:40Do you know what you're going to wear?
01:41I do.
01:42Okay.
01:42Yes.
01:43Would you like to know?
01:44Sure.
01:44I'm wearing Dior.
01:45Oh.
01:46Nice.
01:47Wow.
01:48Dior.
02:17I don't know.
02:19And River is grieving.
02:20This show seems to be very unafraid of killing off its characters.
02:27How early do people find out that it's their turn?
02:31Are you guys, when you're getting the scripts, are you going to the last page of the last episode?
02:37That comes from Mick, who wrote the books.
02:40You cannot kill anyone off unless Mick kills them off.
02:44In the book first.
02:45Okay.
02:45So we are under strict instructions, not to play with that side of it.
02:52So do you all read the books first, then, to find out?
02:56Yeah.
02:56Okay.
02:57But you can be written out, couldn't you?
02:59Yes.
03:00You can be written out, but you can't.
03:02I mean, if you behave badly.
03:02That's what happened to me.
03:03I behaved so badly, they wrote me out.
03:05Yes.
03:06That's not the line.
03:07That's true.
03:08They were like, no way.
03:09She's not coming back.
03:10We kept on stealing things on set, didn't we?
03:13And then, of course, when we got you back for...
03:16When we got you back...
03:16We regretted it.
03:17Oh, my God.
03:18It was awful.
03:19We're not having her back.
03:21We are.
03:21It's the first time we've met in like a year.
03:24You mentioned that, though.
03:25It's a sad thing, because we're a company of actors.
03:35And we, I think, for the most part...
03:37Anyway, we all like each other, and we all get on with each other.
03:41And you'll get someone come in, like Justin, who played...
03:46What was his character's name?
03:47Justin.
03:49Justin.
03:50Justin.
03:52Justin.
03:52He made a big impact.
03:55Justin.
03:55No, not Justin.
03:56Dustin, who played Min.
03:58We all loved Dustin.
04:03Yeah.
04:03And it was very, very sad to sort of let him go.
04:08But it's kind of brutal in that sense.
04:10Kadeef.
04:11Kadeef.
04:11And Kadeef.
04:12Maybe it's a hazing ritual.
04:14Is there...
04:14What do people have to do to sort of get on board with the vibe?
04:17Kadeef.
04:18I didn't know what that term was.
04:19It appeared in one of our scripts.
04:21And I was like, hazing?
04:21What's that?
04:22It's like when you make people stand naked and you beat them with a paddle board.
04:29Is that what you mean?
04:30It is in front...
04:31That's not what I meant.
04:32I more so meant like, you know, you have to go out and have beers or something.
04:37Oh, no.
04:38That was sort of more what I was thinking.
04:39But if that's what you guys do...
04:42Yeah.
04:43Maybe we're like a non-hazing...
04:45Initiation protocol.
04:46I remember that.
04:46Let's call it initiation.
04:47Yeah.
04:48Initiation.
04:50We welcome any newcomer, don't we?
04:52We do.
04:53Open arms.
04:53Yeah.
04:54I feel like with stunts, there's varying levels of like who has to do them and how hard
04:58they are.
04:59Is that up to you guys at all?
05:01Can you say, I want to do more?
05:03Or like you see Jack sprinting all the time and are like, no thanks.
05:07Yeah, it's up to us.
05:09Okay.
05:09How much we do.
05:10I mean, the things that are like really dangerous, jumping off into the Thames.
05:16That one, they're probably like...
05:17Yeah.
05:17They'll probably get E. coli or something.
05:19Yeah.
05:20Who can we get?
05:23That's the hazing ritual.
05:24Yeah.
05:25Jump into the Thames.
05:26Yeah.
05:27Of course, lamb.
05:28I mean, the most dangerous thing I do is probably just eat a bacon sarni or something
05:32in it.
05:33Yeah.
05:33I don't do any of that.
05:35I'm spared.
05:35Everything we see you eating on screen.
05:38Yeah.
05:38Are you eating in real life?
05:40And is it the real thing that you're eating?
05:43Yes, I am.
05:45I mean, yes.
05:45You mean, yeah.
05:47Noodles.
05:47Yeah.
05:48In season two.
05:49Slurping away.
05:50Season two in the cafe in the Chinese restaurant with River Cartwright.
05:56That morning, I had 17 bowls of noodles.
06:02And then they broke for lunch.
06:05I always go, yeah, here's the lunch menu.
06:08And you're going, no thanks.
06:10I have a pet peeve.
06:12I can't stand watching when the actors are not really drinking in there.
06:19And they're.
06:20Empty mug.
06:21And they're playing with their food and they're not eating, you know.
06:24They nibble on it.
06:25They get on the phone there.
06:26Yeah.
06:27No.
06:28I mean, Jackson Lamb has got terrible eating habits.
06:31I mean, he loves junk food.
06:34But you, in a scene where you're eating, Lamb has to eat.
06:40Yeah.
06:41Speaking of taking stuff from set, do you take any of your character's clothes?
06:46My clothes?
06:46Yeah.
06:47I did take the tracksuit from season five.
06:50The one that's like the geometric.
06:52I have one of those.
06:53There was like a couple of them, but that one was made specifically for me.
06:56So like I had a lot of input into the detail and that.
07:00So I wanted to have that, you know, in case I wanted to dress up for Halloween.
07:03Okay.
07:03Do you wear it or it sits in your closet?
07:06You don't wear it.
07:07Do you wear it around the house?
07:09Sometimes.
07:09You know, just getting in your cozy clothes.
07:12Or if I want to like just walk down the shops.
07:14Just.
07:14Yeah.
07:15Remind people that.
07:16Just remind people I'm in slow horses.
07:18Slow horses.
07:18They gave me like pieces as well, like my hair pieces too.
07:21Oh yeah.
07:21I've got the ponytail too.
07:23So.
07:23Yeah.
07:23Sometimes I mix and match.
07:25Who am I going to be today?
07:27Can you, can you use in London sort of the slow horses?
07:32Can you get into anything you couldn't get into before?
07:34We got rejected from a club.
07:36Oh my God.
07:36We did.
07:37We got, the three of us got rejected from a club in Hollywood.
07:41Let's name it.
07:42I can't actually remember.
07:43And this woman behind us called Hannah Banana sailed on pass.
07:48It was humiliating.
07:49And the three of us were like.
07:50Wasn't it?
07:51Humiliating.
07:51We were like, we literally feel like slow horses.
07:54But just outside the club at 3 a.m.
07:56And Hannah Banana.
07:58Swanned in.
07:59Swanned in.
07:59Swanned in.
08:00Were you going, were you coming from something?
08:02Or like what, what circumstances were you the, were you just, you just were clubbing for fun?
08:06We went out, we went out to, the three of us went out to a club and the club closed.
08:10And I actually had a friend at this other club.
08:12And he's like, come, come.
08:13Like, it's fine.
08:14You'll get in.
08:15You'll get in.
08:15So we went to the door and they closed the door.
08:18And knock, knock, knock.
08:19And my friend was on the other side.
08:20He's like, oh no, let them in.
08:21Like they're slow horses.
08:22He's like, I don't know what that show is.
08:24I don't know.
08:25Oh, Banana.
08:26Come in.
08:26Banana.
08:27Come in.
08:28Stroll right in.
08:30Oh no.
08:31We went back to the hotel room and danced.
08:32Yep, we did.
08:33If that isn't LA in a nutshell.
08:35I don't know what is.
08:37Thank you so much for chatting.
