00:00All right, guys, we want to update the Heisman Trophy market because through, I don't know, I want to say
00:06a week, but like we obviously we had some week zero.
00:08We've also played a couple of games here, but we've had real movement.
00:12Darian Mensah, though, has pulled ahead a little bit.
00:16He's at five to one.
00:18The next closest is Arch Manning at double the price.
00:22Now, I am not in denial of the numbers that Darian Mensah has posted to start this season at all.
00:35For anybody who is not following, it's 653 yards, eight touchdowns, no interceptions.
00:42It's been spotless.
00:45What?
00:47I don't care what he did against FAMU.
00:51That is, it matters to the season-long numbers, but like that is not impressive.
00:57Stanford, that was impressive.
00:59I maintain that was the Malachi-Tony game, not the Darian Mensah game.
01:04And what I think is really happening with the Mensah prices, and tell me if you agree, Dave,
01:10is I think what's really going on is Miami's power rating is changing in real time,
01:17and people are growing in confidence that there's only one game they might lose, which is at Notre Dame.
01:26And otherwise, they'll be 11-1, go in at ACC, 12-1.
01:31And if they beat Notre Dame, well, they're going to go unbeaten and be the one seed,
01:37and this is the best team in college football.
01:39Like, I don't agree with that, but that's what it feels like is happening with these Miami prices.
01:45Yeah, I think you throw out the numbers for a second.
01:48The Mensah thing is a pure market number where people are looking at the definition of a future
01:53and saying, well, Miami absolutely is either going to go undefeated or one loss.
01:58Of course, we know that, you know, Miami and Mario will lose a game here or there because that's what
02:01they do.
02:02But in reality, they're going to be favored by 20 or more points in all of these games.
02:06He's going to continue to put up big numbers.
02:08And if they are 12-0 going into the college football playoff or 13-0, he is your Heisman Trophy
02:13winner.
02:13It's that simple.
02:14And so you're going to get a lot of money there from people who are thinking future,
02:18and the books have to react to it.
02:20Do I think he's the best player in the country?
02:22No.
02:22Do I have a Heisman ticket on him at 9-1 because I saw what I saw before these two
02:27games?
02:28Yeah, I saw an easy schedule.
02:29I saw ridiculous talent.
02:31I saw the fact that if he throws to Tony 20 times for 20 touchdowns,
02:35Mensah's going to get the award anyway.
02:37So I did take it at 9-1, which means I have tremendous value.
02:40I wrote a column this week on the Heisman Trophy rankings,
02:43and I put Mensah number one because that's where he belongs right now
02:47with what you're looking at for a projected winner.
02:50Who did I put to?
02:51I reserved the spot and said winner of Texas versus Ohio State.
02:56It's that simple.
02:57The winner of today's game will be second in my Heisman list
03:02and might take over the lead at the books because of the performance they do.
03:08That being said, there's a whole lot of tough games coming up for both Arch and Sane,
03:12but they'll be number two.
03:14And we talked about it in the last segment.
03:17My number three right now is Sam Levitt simply because LSU is not going to stop scoring.
03:23If you're going to buy someone who's going to put up ridiculous numbers versus actual competition,
03:28all due respect to Darian Mensah, then it's Sam Levitt because he's going to throw up big numbers
03:34and they're actually going to play good teams unlike Miami.
03:37I think you're getting good value there.
03:39I put him at three.
03:40That doesn't mean he's going to win the Heisman because LSU is going to lose at some point.
03:44But that is where I put my top three.
03:46We talked about Keelan Russell a few minutes ago where if Alabama can get some wins down the street,
03:52I think 25 to one is a good price.
03:54And we'll throw the homer pick out there.
03:57Jaden Baugh is going to have a huge year in Gainesville with that offense.
04:01They got to get the wins.
04:02An eight and four season is not going to win in the Heisman unless your name is Tim Tebow at
04:06nine and three.
04:07But you're getting 35 to 40 to one on a really good weapon on a really good offense.
