00:06styled by Luigi Colani. At the heart of this car is a 1989 Ferrari Testarossa, but in 1991
00:12Luigi Colani decided that he could make it better and faster. Luigi Colani's approach was
00:18biodynamics. Taking styling cues from nature, his design approach made the car more fuel efficient,
00:24have a lower coefficient for drag, ultimately resulting in a much faster car. In the year 1991,
00:29Luigi Colani took it to the Bonneville Salt Flats with the goal of setting a land speed record.
00:34For this car's class, that's exactly what he did, running it at 218 miles an hour. He partnered
00:39with Lowtech and created a twin-turbo V12 engine producing 750 horsepower, which is how it reached
00:46its land speed record of 218 miles per hour. As you can tell from the interior, there is nothing
00:50similar except for the shift knob to a Testarossa itself. Most notably though, the reason why the
00:55car is called Testo d'Oro is the gold heads.
