00:03Welcome to Ms. Mojo and today we're counting down our picks for the times
00:08Will Forte made his scene mates break character.
00:17Number 10 Weekend Update Women's History Song Saturday Night Live
00:23When Women's History Month sorry Women's Herstory rolls around who better to
00:29commemorate it than Will Forte?
00:40Forte launches into an earnest song celebrating some of history's most notable women, complete
00:46with plenty of name dropping and facts our schools apparently don't teach.
00:59But is this really an educational tool or a complaint about the high schools that refused
01:04to pay him to use it?
01:05Either way, Forte barely gets started before a little opening riff seems to crack Seth
01:11Meyers.
01:18While the commitment to the bit is undeniably impressive, maybe next time they needed an
01:23actual historian for this one.
01:31There's no denying this sketch is a relic of its time, so we won't linger on the details.
01:36Aren't you a little old to be trick-or-treating?
01:38Is 43 too old to be in the Halloween spirit?
01:40And by spirit I don't mean ghost, heck I'm not that old, what?
01:44The premise centers on a man new to the neighborhood who uses trick-or-treating to get his neighbors'
01:48acknowledgement of his, well, disturbing past.
01:51John Hamm is the unfortunate neighbor already suspicious of an adult man knocking on doors
01:56for candy.
01:57Look, I realize this is a little unusual, but, you know, I just moved into the neighborhood
02:01and, you know, I figured I'd use trick-or-treating as an excuse to get out and make some new
02:05friends.
02:06I apologize for being so awkward.
02:08Still, after realizing he may have prejudged the situation, Hamm tries to make amends by
02:13offering him some treats.
02:15That's when you seemingly can see him start to break.
02:17Whether it's a genuine laugh or a character choice, we'll leave that for you to judge.
02:22I hope you'll accept a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
02:24Bob, I couldn't think of a better welcoming gift.
02:26Number 8.
02:27After Jenjimin, Second Chance Theater extended Q&A.
02:31Late Night with Seth Meyers
02:33Even by Studio 8H's usual 10-to-1 standards, this Jenjimin
02:38Franklin sketch feels like it was beamed in from another dimension.
02:49It's easy to understand why it never made it to air, but some of the SNL crew
02:54eventually gave it a second life on Seth Meyers' Second Chance Theater.
02:58Somehow, everyone keeps a straight face through increasingly bizarre moments,
03:02although that expression from Jason Sudeikis looks an awful lot like a break.
03:17There we go.
03:18Then, during the post-bit Q&A, Forte stays relatively method, launching into an explanation with such
03:24bizarre sincerity that Seth is laughing within seconds. Forte sure can make complete nonsense
03:30sound deeply heartfelt.
03:32Do you feel satisfied having finally performed Jenjimin Franklin for an audience?
03:40Did Herman Melville feel satisfied when he finally
03:47did Moby Dick for the first time? They staged it many times.
03:527. Solar Panel Installation – The Last Man on Earth
03:57Even in a post-apocalyptic world, Forte still manages to break his co-stars with incredible ease.
04:03In this Season 2 episode, Tandy tries to install some solar panels to help with the power crisis.
04:19Only, if you've ever attempted any kind of technical work around the house,
04:23you know these things are rarely as straightforward as they look.
04:36In this outtake, Forte is matter-of-factly explaining what needs to be done when he
04:42suddenly drops a certain curse word into the conversation. Todd actor Mel Rodriguez instantly
04:47breaks at Forte's surprising choice of adjective. And while the panels still need installing,
04:53Rodriguez is already generating plenty of laughter.
04:56So you know how to install these things?
04:58No! But, uh, you know, watch Phil do it in Tucson and, uh, I don't know, you know,
05:04got the general gist, I guess. You just lay these motherf***ers out, uh, you know, you just, uh…
05:09Fulfilling your pop culture needs is our forte. Scan the QR code to join the live stream and keep
05:16the laughs rolling.
05:17Now we gotta find something else to talk about.
05:19Yes.
05:196. How Not To Do Romance – MacGruber
05:22One of Forte's breakout SNL characters, MacGruber, was a dysfunctional take on the action
05:28hero who could never finish defusing a bomb before getting distracted by his personal life.
05:33I will never, ever forgive you.
05:35Good. I hope you don't.
05:37Let's get back to the…
05:38MacGruber!
05:39The character eventually graduated to the big screen,
05:42with Kristen Wiig returning as Vicky. When Vicky confesses her feelings,
05:46the movie tries to give them a steamy romantic moment.
05:49You're an amazing man. You're gorgeous. You have a perfect body.
05:54Great sense of style. You're smart and brave.
05:59Casey was a very lucky woman to have a guy like you.
06:02Tries being the operative phrase. Whatever chemistry the scene is supposed to have,
06:07Wiig and Forte keep finding the giggles instead. Every time they lock lips, Wiig struggles to
06:13maintain a straight face, making it feel less like long-awaited romance and more like two
06:17friends giggling during a game of Spin the Bottle.
06:305. Jackie and Clancy – Saturday Night Live
06:34Remember Jackie and Clancy? The country duo whose songs combine folksy storytelling with unfortunate
06:40toddlers finding themselves in all kinds of mishaps? Spaceships loaning towels? And
06:46turkeys meeting unfortunate ends?
06:48Oh toddler, did you hear when I whispered in your ear about the spaceship that was parked in your yard?
06:54Next to a Model T car and some beer in a jar? But without any gas they couldn't get too
07:00far?
07:00Exactly. It's impressive that Forte, Wiig, and Kenan Thompson can make it through these songs
07:05without breaking. Then they slow things down with a more soulful ballad. Naturally,
07:10Forte uses that opportunity to make things harder. His bizarre vocalizations send Wiig visibly jolting
07:16before she tries to suppress a laugh. The eyes of God are crying,
07:23cause the toddlers have been lying.
07:28The best part is how spontaneous it feels, as though Forte has just decided that this
07:33respectable country song desperately needs whatever those sounds are.
07:43Number 4. I Got This – Saturday Night Live
07:46We've all been there. Dinner is over, the check arrives, and now the family turns paying into a
07:51competitive sport.
07:52You drove me to work for a year, I got this!
07:55You wired me money when I was stuck in Phoenix, I got this!
07:59You gave my wife a pint of blood when she had knee surgery, I got this!
08:03In this sketch, splitting the bill isn't even on the table. The youngest member bows out,
08:08leaving father and son to battle over who gets to cover the meal,
08:11with increasingly ridiculous reasons for why each deserves the privilege.
08:15Dad, come on, you're getting on in years,
08:16and I want to show you my love before you pass, I got this!
08:19I'm only 58, I got this!
08:21Hey, you introduced me to jazz, I got this!
08:23You helped me to learn eBay, I got this!
08:25Forte gets especially fired up while explaining why he should pay for his wife's birthday dinner,
08:30and you can watch Jason Sudeikis fighting to keep his face under control.
08:34That smirk says everything.
08:35The argument is funny, but Sudeikis fighting Forte's increasingly intense delivery makes it better.
08:41This is the woman I will be buried next to!
08:43She comforts me when my hernia acts up!
08:45The least I can do for this blessed angel is buy her spaghetti on her birthday!
08:49I got this!
08:51Number three, the shock collar, the last man on earth.
08:55In an attempt to keep Tandy on a tight leash, so to speak, the group fits him with a shock
09:00collar.
09:00I'm not even going to come close to these perimeters, so it's not even going to be a bastard!
09:05Yeah, yeah, thought I had a little more room there, but no, gotta learn these freaking perimeters, and then...
09:11This comes after a series of punishments involving the stocks, solitary confinement,
09:16and perhaps cruelest of all, being denied some insanely delicious cheese.
09:20In the episode, Tandy seems to accept his fate when he's made to wear a shock collar for breaking the
09:25terms of isolation.
09:26You guys, it was a tiny slip-up!
09:29Tandy is a human being, he's not chattel!
09:32Carol, agree to disagree. This shock collar is exactly what I deserve!
09:37But the blooper has a very different effect.
09:39As Tandy crosses the parameters, seemingly forgetting the conditions,
09:43Forte suddenly starts exhibiting some more canine tendencies.
09:46It's enough to completely break the cast and send the scene careening off course.
09:51All right, the collar stays on the dog.
09:58Number two, Second Chance Theater, John Bovee, starring Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis.
10:04Late Night with Seth Meyers.
10:06The good thing about being an SNL alum with a talk show is getting to give a second chance
10:10to sketches that never made it to air.
10:22Here, Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis play John Bovee,
10:26a Bon Jovi opposite band that twists iconic lyrics into increasingly nonsensical phrases.
10:31Yet, it's a joke about giving a rabbi a nice tip that initially takes Seth Meyers down.
10:38I used to be an eighth Jewish.
10:42Used to be.
10:43I lost it after I was circumcised last year. I gave the rabbi a nice tip.
10:48You can practically see him fighting for his life to keep it together.
10:52Of course, that's hardly the only time Seth breaks during this segment.
10:55And honestly, we're not sure we could have made it through Coca Sober either.
10:59Hate lifts us down where we'd be short
11:03Where the turtles crawl
11:06On a Coca Sober Christmas
11:10Hate lifts us down where we'd be short
11:12I'm sorry. I was kind of with you guys.
11:15Right up until Coca Sober.
11:20Before we continue, check out this single from current,
11:24EDM Transform. Check out the full track and album below.
11:38It's a sports classic. The team is down and the coach delivers a halftime speech about a coach
11:42who used a song to pull off the ultimate comeback in college basketball history.
11:47And that song got us so fired up, we went out there and mounted the biggest comeback in college
11:52basketball history. I brought that song with me tonight.
11:57Then, rather than a booming motivational track, he plays a tune you'd expect in an elevator.
12:02Forte takes the song seriously, closing his eyes, twirling around, air drumming,
12:07and dancing with intensity before locking arms with Wally, played by Peyton Manning.
12:11Oh, Goofy's! Can you feel it?
12:14I am feeling it, coach!
12:22That deadpan expression against the Goofy moves is absolutely hilarious.
12:27Meanwhile, the cast tries to hide their laughter, often failing.
12:31Watching comedy professionals crack in real time only makes the whole thing even funnier.
12:47Think you could survive a scene with this comedy giant without laughing?
