00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the wildest headlines,
00:05most jaw-dropping onstage incidents, and messiest behind-the-scenes drama the ballroom has ever
00:11served up. I mean, it was just a surreal moment. It was like we went from zero to 100 back
00:18down
00:18to zero really fast. Number 50. Clowning Around with Leah Remini, Season 21. Returning as a guest
00:27host, Remini probably felt she could relax and leave the days of high nerves and scary moments
00:32to her competing days. All right, so mystery, I mean, the audience clearly doesn't agree with
00:36the judges. Now, what I love that you said, you were like, I'm the best dancer up in here,
00:44which I love the confidence. However, this was Halloween, and while it was an absolute treat
00:49to have Remini back in the ballroom, that didn't mean the powers that be didn't have a few tricks
00:54up their sleeves. While interviewing Tamar Braxton and her partner Val Schmierkowski post-dance,
01:00a creepy AF clown, a.k.a. Sasha Farber, crept up behind her, gave her the jump scare of her
01:06life,
01:06and sent her knee-first into the floor.
01:11Damn you!
01:14You know what? Sasha? Sorry. You know what? I'm not good with people scaring me. I really am not good.
01:23One person who was hilariously unimpressed with her reaction was Mr. Schmierkowski.
01:28You're from Brooklyn, Leah. That don't scare you.
01:30Number 49. Val Schmierkowski vs. Carrie Ann Inaba, Season 35.
01:35If there's one thing that usually doesn't get past Carrie Ann, it's an illegal lift.
01:41I think you need to put more content in your dances, especially because you have so much,
01:46you're so good. Like, I want to see you challenge yourself a little bit more in the vein of what
01:50we're looking for from you. And there was a lift. A lift?
01:54Okay.
01:55After an uncomfortably tense exchange, Jenna Johnson was reportedly seen crying backstage,
02:00prompting Val's protective husband instincts to kick in.
02:03Carrie Ann was feeling a little hard today.
02:05He responded by referencing Will Smith's infamous Oscars outburst, seemingly oblivious to the wider
02:11implications of his words and how problematic it was to invoke violence, particularly against a woman.
02:17Val issued an apology via social media, but was swiftly benched, at least for the time being.
02:23Meanwhile, the production team released a statement distancing themselves from his behavior.
02:27This also meant his partner, Jenna Dewan, had to temporarily switch to dancing with a different pro.
02:32I got to watch her this whole season, and she's been killing it. Her and Val are amazing. For me
02:38to
02:38be able to step in and dance with her, it was truly an honor and a treat. So, I feel
02:43lucky.
02:43Number 48. Amber Rose vs. Julianne Hough. Season 23.
02:48Following a salsa routine to Jennifer Lopez's booty, Julianne remarked that she felt, quote,
02:53uncomfortable watching the routine.
02:55I actually feel a little uncomfortable.
02:57Amber Rose interpreted the critique as a swipe against body type, and that the judge's discomfort
03:02was directed at her physical form and sexuality, rather than the technical quality of the dance.
03:08Hough quickly released a statement clarifying her comments were solely a critique of the routine,
03:13not a judgment of Amber's body.
03:14Telling E.T. in a statement, quote,
03:17My comments were solely reacting to the quality of the dance I was judging. Any kind of body shaming
03:22is the furthest thing from who I am and what I stand for.
03:27The two were able to untangle their crossed wires live, because that's not awkward at all, right?
03:32Still, it gave two women a chance to show that potential conflicts could be diffused without the
03:37cat fight some were hoping for.
03:39It is something that people can express themselves to do. And for me, I am a huge supporter of that,
03:45and that alone. And as a judge on this show, I am here to solely judge you and everyone else
03:51in this competition for only the dancing. So I want you to know that.
03:55Number 47.
03:56Maya Doesn't Win. Season 9.
03:59Few outcomes create louder fan debate than the one everybody swears should have gone differently.
04:04Winning this competition would mean the most to me.
04:07I'd love to show that this Maryland girl has what it takes to bring home that trophy.
04:12Indeed, Maya and her partner, Dimitri Chaplin, spent their fair share of weeks topping the leaderboard,
04:18earning some of the highest marks, including multiple perfect scores in the lead-up to the finals.
04:23However, when it came to announcing the season's champion, it wasn't Maya's name that was called.
04:35Donnie and Gary!
04:36Although they came practically neck and neck in the finals, the fans had spoken and decided
04:41to crown Donnie Osmond their champion, making him the oldest celeb to take the mirror ball.
04:45And we are not saying it was not well-deserved. It's just not what we expected.
04:50Wow, we are so happy to come this far. I had a broken foot last year,
04:53and I'm just so happy to have made it to the finals, and it's all about teamwork,
04:58and we enjoyed ourselves. We had the time of our lives.
05:00Number 46. Bruno Loses His Paddle. Season 34.
05:05If you're a fan of the show, you might think this is a euphemism, like losing one's marbles.
05:10Bruno, you need to lock your score in first before speaking.
05:13Oh, he's locked.
05:14Lock it in.
05:14He's locked.
05:16Because the devil wears tango.
05:19But no, that ship sailed around the first time Bruno fell out of his chair.
05:23The judge caused a mix-up when he mistakenly held up a seven paddle for Whitney Levitt's routine.
05:29Julianne Hough swiftly stepped in to correct the record, explaining that Tony Oli had actually
05:34locked in an eight through the official system, utterly betraying the Phantom Seven he'd just
05:38broadcast to the viewers.
05:40Oh, actually, we just came through my ear right now. Bruno actually put in an eight, so we have
05:47to correct it. It's a 15.
05:49Tony Oli laughed off the blunder, while Julianne joked about the unpredictability of live television.
05:55And we doubt the pairing, we're mad about an extra mark, either.
05:59Don't forget it.
06:02We love live television!
06:05Number 45.
06:06Krishel Staus and Gleb Sevchenko sell more than sunsets. Season 29.
06:11As well as perfect footwork and frame, armchair critics watching from home always look for fire
06:17between dance partners.
06:18This season, all eyes were on this duo.
06:21Must be love on the band.
06:26That's got me feeling this way.
06:30Speculation erupted when Gleb's sudden divorce announcement coincided with their elimination,
06:36setting the rumor mill ablaze.
06:38His now ex publicly alleged infidelity, and internet sleuths immediately pointed fingers at
06:43Krishel, who was also newly single.
06:45You were almost, almost a bachelorette back on season four.
06:50So the question is, would you do it now?
06:54Oh my goodness, you know, that is the question.
06:57I mean, listen, now I'm a male bull, so who knows?
06:59The timing threw the reality stars into a whirlwind media frenzy, forcing both to forcefully deny
07:05any romantic involvement.
07:07Ultimately, the intense public scrutiny overshadowed their entire ballroom journey, cementing it
07:12as one of the series' most infamous off-screen dramas.
07:15The ballroom was only half the story.
07:18What are you going to miss the most about this whole experience?
07:21Oh my gosh.
07:23Obviously me.
07:23Number 44.
07:25Whitney Levitt doesn't make it to the finals.
07:27Season 34.
07:29From the first time this Mormon wife hit the dance floor, it was clear she was in a league
07:33of her own and, paired with one of the most innovative choreographers, an undisputed frontrunner.
07:39I'm done hiding, now I'm shining like I'm full of pain.
07:46Together, they gave us iconic routines.
07:49From their samba, to their foxtrot, to the quick step.
08:02During the semifinals, they found themselves in the most dangerous part of the leaderboard,
08:07the middle.
08:07Yet this wasn't the only factor in what happened next.
08:11As season 3 of Mormon Wives premiered, Levitt revealed her intentions for returning to the
08:15show, and fans seemingly rewarded her honesty by booting her off just one week shy of the
08:21finals.
08:21I already feel like a winner.
08:23This show has meant the absolute world for me.
08:26It's changed my life, and I will forever be so grateful for the friendships I've made
08:30to have this experience.
08:31Number 43.
08:32Smiling doesn't win you gold medals.
08:35Season 24.
08:36Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about her shocking elimination.
08:39Stay tuned for that.
08:40However, we're focusing on Biles' reaction to essentially being told to smile during the
08:45judges' feedback.
08:46I definitely saw the improvement in the emotion.
08:49I saw you expand your movements.
08:51I saw you pushing yourself in a new direction.
08:53You let out the signature Simone smile after you did your trick.
08:57While listening to their largely positive critique of her Pasa Doble, Biles listened attentively.
09:02As an athlete with 41 championship medals, and a spot cleared for a mirrorball among them
09:07might, host Tom Bergeron commented on what he perceived to be a lack of joy over the praise.
09:13And she responded.
09:14I gotta quickly ask.
09:17I was waiting for you to smile at some of the compliments.
09:20You didn't.
09:23Smiling doesn't win you gold medals.
09:24For any woman who has ever been told to smile more, this itself felt like Biles had won the
09:30season, and it sure sparked a lot of conversation.
09:33Okay then, Glenn.
09:35Want more gold standard entertainment?
09:37We promise we won't judge your couch posture.
09:39Scan the QR code to join us live for non-stop pop culture fun.
09:43What do you have in store for us?
09:45It is gonna be just that.
09:46It's a party.
09:47Number 42, An Unfortunate Wardrobe Malfunction, Season 22.
09:52Live TV and costume design are a risky combo, and sometimes the risk takes over.
09:58Every so often I get in my little earpiece, so just cautionary notes, Ashley just said to
10:03me, look at Sharna's top.
10:05So I'm only doing the producer's bidding.
10:07Everything good?
10:08Pull it up just a touch.
10:09Celebs and pros alike can recount the sheer embarrassment of realizing your costume forgot
10:14its one job.
10:15During Icon's night, viewers watching live reportedly had their view of the dance interrupted
10:20by the show's logo.
10:22Did you notice that quick random shot of the Dancing with the Stars logo?
10:26Well, turns out it wasn't random at all.
10:28Soon after, it was revealed why.
10:30Sharna's dress had slipped further south than allowed on primetime television, and it seems
10:35she hadn't noticed.
10:36Well, until Tom brought the mishap to everyone's attention.
10:39Could it have been handled more discreetly?
10:42Sure, but Sharna laughed it off like the pro she is, while later confessing she was absolutely
10:47mortified.
10:48Were you watching the footage back?
10:50Over and over again, mortified.
10:52It's like, I cannot believe that happened.
10:55You never think it's gonna happen to you.
10:57And then it happens.
10:57Until it does.
11:03You don't win Olympic gold medals without being open to criticism.
11:07As Childs received feedback on her final Paso Doble, the crowd booed Carrie Ann, with one
11:13audience member even heckling her mid-critique.
11:16I love that you got the spots.
11:18You really focused on the spots.
11:19We worked on that.
11:20You created the space.
11:21Like, this kills me.
11:22But yeah, just the beginning felt like it didn't quite come together.
11:26Shortly after, while talking to Julianne, Childs came to Carrie Ann's defense as one strong
11:31woman to another.
11:32I have to give credit to Carrie Ann truthfully, because as a woman, it is hard to really express
11:37who you are and what you've done.
11:39So, Carrie Ann, keep doing what you're doing.
11:41She explained why she valued the judge's comments and pointed out that you learn from listening
11:45to the best.
11:46There was no shade in her delivery, but it was clear this was her taking a stand against
11:50audiences who can't handle a little honesty, especially from a woman.
11:55Talk about a class act.
11:56I will always stand by you because, girly pop, you made me feel so much better about myself.
12:01Number 40.
12:02A Tale of Two Conners, season 35.
12:05This will be a running theme, but live TV has a cheeky way of throwing in a curveball.
12:10Please make sure to text all of your votes for tonight and tonight only.
12:17We are throwing out online votes.
12:20Case in point, the first elimination of season 35.
12:24During the premiere, the host announced a technical glitch that meant voters could only
12:28cast their votes by text message.
12:30So, for example, if you wanted to vote for Conor Levitt, you'd text Conor L.
12:35If Conor would was your choice, you'd send Conor W.
12:38See where the confusion begins?
12:41Text all of the first names to all of our stars to 21523, okay?
12:47Except for the Conors.
12:50Obviously, Conor L and Conor W, right?
12:53And while Conor L may have not had his wife's natural talents, his early elimination caused
12:58quite the kerfuffle, with fingers pointing in every direction over what had gone wrong.
13:03Conor L and Adele.
13:06Number 39.
13:08Christy Brinkley's journey ends before it can begin.
13:11Season 28.
13:12Injuries during the grueling show schedule are almost part of the overall format, and
13:17we will explore that more later.
13:19Sailor is here to save the day.
13:21I'm really anxious.
13:22Have you danced before?
13:23Do you know what you're doing?
13:24I have never danced before.
13:26However, before this model-slash-actress even got a chance to take the ballroom floor for
13:30a twirl, she had an accident that ended her season before it even began.
13:35We found a silver lining in a ball of this.
13:38My mom's had three weeks to prepare this dance, and now I have three days.
13:45Brinkley seemed to trip over Val's foot and went down hard, breaking her arm in the process.
13:51She's not the only celeb to have to pull out before the competition begins, but she's the
13:55first to send a mini-me in her place.
13:58And we have no doubt that Sailor made her mom very, very proud.
14:02I am blown away.
14:03Mom, what do you think?
14:04Christy, I mean, my goodness.
14:05You must be so proud.
14:07I'm so proud of her.
14:09I'm so proud of you, sir.
14:12Number 38.
14:13Lauren Haregi gets the final word.
14:15Season 34.
14:16Not only was this fifth of Fifth Harmony voted out far too early, but she was also eliminated
14:22dancing to her own song.
14:24Now that's gotta hurt.
14:33The cha-cha is one of the toughest Latin dances, with its unusual counts and precise leg placements.
14:39But try to make it all TikTok-y, and you've got your work cut out for you.
14:42You ain't got no work.
14:54Even though she and Brandon Armstrong ended joint last on the leaderboard, Lauren's breakthrough
15:00moment seemed just around the corner.
15:02Or not.
15:03Lauren didn't get a chance to show audiences her full potential.
15:07But she'll always be remembered for her iconic reaction.
15:10And honestly, us too, girl.
15:12Us too.
15:13You can hear by the audience.
15:14Yes, go ahead, Juliette, go ahead.
15:16That everybody is shocked.
15:19How are you feeling?
15:21Pissed.
15:22Number 37.
15:23Karina Wants Her Mullet Back.
15:25Season 4.
15:26It seemed almost inevitable that Billy Ray Cyrus would dance to one of his more famous songs
15:31at some point in the competition.
15:32And the show wasted no time giving him a cha-cha to I Want My Mullet Back in Week 1.
15:37Only one thing that I miss more than that.
15:41I want my mullet back.
15:44And while his performance was nothing to write home about, a wig mishap arguably stole the
15:49show.
15:50You see, his partner Karina Smirnoff was given a mullet to wear for this performance.
15:54Things are changing, man, and that's a mess.
16:05And just as we thought everything was going as well as it could, they hit that final pose.
16:10And well, we guess Billy Ray decided he really did want his mullet back.
16:14I got it back!
16:16I got it!
16:17Number 36.
16:18Lisa Vanderpump Faints.
16:20Season 16.
16:21It's no secret that beyond the sequins and spray tans, dancing with the stars can be
16:25a taxing experience and is certainly not for the faint-hearted.
16:29We have to push through because we have no alternative.
16:32As much as I would like to say, you know what, let's take a break, let's just, you know,
16:35regroup tomorrow.
16:36We don't have that luxury.
16:38I can't do it.
16:39Indeed, this real housewife collapsed while rehearsing for her cha-cha with Gleb Sevchenko.
16:44She cited a particularly busy week for adding to her weariness, saying she was, quote,
16:49exhausted, and everything felt off.
16:52It seemed she was simply run down and fighting a virus.
16:55However, not everyone was so sympathetic.
16:58In fact, some of her Real Housewives co-stars were among those claiming that she faked the
17:02whole thing.
17:03To hear that somebody thinks that you might have faked the painting and all that stuff,
17:07doesn't that upset you?
17:08I haven't heard that apart from a housewife, but I don't think you can fake a fever and
17:13swollen glands and low blood pressure and high heart rate.
17:16Fake or not, she was eliminated that week.
17:19So, at least she could put her feet up and rest.
17:22So, yes, I am really happy.
17:24I mean, it's been six long weeks, I have to say, and boy, has it taken its toll.
17:28It's been the hardest thing I've ever done.
17:29Number 35.
17:31Harry Jowsey.
17:32Too hot-headed to handle?
17:33Season 32.
17:35During Season 32, reality star Harry Jowsey became the center of an internet firestorm.
17:40Do I want to be a drill sergeant every day?
17:42Probably not.
17:43But it's the best way to just get around to Harry and get our steps and we can improve.
17:47Week after week, Harry served up some of the lowest scores, leaving viewers screaming
17:52at their screens as technical powerhouses were sent packing while he coasted on popularity.
17:57Fans also accused him of treating his pro partner Riley Arnold like a prop, turning the
18:02dance versus popularity debate toxic as Harry even faced death threats.
18:07Being able to put up with so much hate, it's been crazy.
18:09I can't believe I've had people give me death threats over my terrible dance moves.
18:13Things only got messier after the glitter settled, with Jowsey claiming that he'd been
18:18on the receiving end of a cast ice-out and a severed friendship with Riley.
18:22Meanwhile, she confirmed that their communication pretty much ended when the season did.
18:26Everyone was really lovely, and then they weren't.
18:29Number 34.
18:31Tinashe's Early Elimination.
18:33Season 27.
18:34While we have a dedicated video recapping every premature celebrity elimination, every once
18:39in a while, a single exit feels so unjust that we just have to talk about it all over again.
18:45Tinashe and Brandon.
18:56Sent home just four weeks into the competition, Tinashe proves that at times, dancing with the
19:01stars really is just a popularity contest.
19:04Technically, she was one of the best, consistently landing near the top of the leaderboard with
19:09high scores, making her a favorite to win or at least make the finals.
19:13Everyone that I've talked to tonight called you the best dancer here.
19:16How do you react to that?
19:18Honestly, that's very nice.
19:19Her early exit meant she barely scratched the surface of her potential compared with lower
19:23scoring contestants.
19:25And yes, we are still mad about it.
19:27What happened?
19:28You tell us!
19:29Obviously people didn't vote.
19:30Yeah, I actually didn't vote.
19:32Number 33.
19:34Tensions brew between Cheryl Burke and Ian Ziering.
19:36Season 4.
19:38Since pros and celebs spend so much time together, getting along makes life much easier.
19:43The fact that his name's not Ian and it's Ian makes me want to throw up.
19:47Unfortunately, that did not seem to be the case for Cheryl Burke and her season 4 partner,
19:51actor Ian Ziering.
19:53Yet, despite their rocky relationship, they still managed to reach the semifinals.
19:58In a podcast interview, Burke labeled Ziering her least favorite partner, made some incredibly
20:03harsh claims, and admitted she constantly begged producers to eliminate them.
20:07I was like, hey, execs, I was crying to the executives, I was like, is there any way to
20:12please just force us to eliminate us?
20:14The comments drew backlash for her insensitive language.
20:17Years later, Burke apologized to Ziering and his family, expressing regret for using him
20:22as a, quote, punching bag, and acknowledging that her nasty remarks genuinely hurt his feelings.
20:27I would love to be able to, you know, have that time with Ian and just apologize and just
20:32say, you know, I'm so sorry for, you know, hurting you and your family, and it's hard
20:37to hear that someone was truly personally affected.
20:40Number 32.
20:41Max Schmierkowski and Kirstie Alley's Ballroom Blunders.
20:44Season 12.
20:45These two had an interesting time together.
20:48Let's start with their rumba.
20:50Max's leg gave out early in the routine, apparently due to a prior injury, causing him to lose his
20:55footing and drag Kirstie down with him.
20:59Max Schmierkowski and Kirstie Alley's Ballroom Blunders.
21:12Despite the tumble, the pair recovered quickly, laughed it off, and finished their routine
21:17with a save that won over audiences.
21:19Now let's talk about their waltz.
21:21Look, we're all for the show must go on, but when it's a shoe causing the problems, it's
21:26tricky just to carry on.
21:28Still, choosing to sit on the floor and fix the malfunction while your partner twirls around
21:32you is a choice.
21:34You're the queen of the unexpected mishap.
21:36I mean, whose shoe comes off?
21:38I don't know.
21:39Number 31.
21:40Anna Delvey's Whirlwind Spin.
21:42Season 33.
21:44In recent years, Dancing with the Stars has expanded its definition of celebrity.
21:48And ahead of season 33, that apparently included con artist.
21:53I think performing in front of live audience is something that I've never done before, if
21:57you don't count, like, the criminal trial.
22:00So it was interesting.
22:01Yeah, it's pushed myself outside of my comfort zone.
22:05Naturally, this divided viewers, with many feeling that the show was essentially glorifying
22:10crime.
22:10Things got even more eyebrow-raising when it was revealed that Delvey had received explicit
22:14permission from ICE to fly across the country for the competition, and would be dancing
22:19with her ankle monitor, which, yes, was bedazzled.
22:23How long did it take to get the permission from?
22:25About 10 days, I would say, yeah.
22:27And so you'll be able to travel to California to compete?
22:29Yes.
22:30The audience ultimately got the final say, giving Delvey a quick boot from the lineup.
22:35Say what you will about everything else, but no one is going to forget her exit in a hurry.
22:40What are you going to take away from this competition?
22:42Nothing.
22:43Number 30.
22:44A different kind of Bachelor in Paradise cast.
22:47Season 28.
22:49The Bachelor Nation tuned in to cheer on Hannah Brown as she took to the dance floor for the
22:53first time in season 28 of the dance contest.
22:56The sun strikes upon the hour, and the sun begins to fade.
23:02Among her supporters in the studio were the Bachelor in Paradise cast.
23:06Or were they?
23:07ABC, which airs both shows, zoomed in on a group in the crowd and labeled them
23:11cast of Bachelor in Paradise.
23:13But even the most casual Bachelor fan could spot the mistake.
23:16Social media had a field day with the mix-up, mocking the network and whoever was behind
23:21this epic fail.
23:22They say showbiz changes people, but this really takes it to a whole other level.
23:27Yeah, I want to dance with somebody, with somebody who loves me.
23:34Number 29.
23:36Kim Kardashian outstays her welcome.
23:39Season 7.
23:40There are many ways to describe Kim Kardashian, but dancer is not one of them.
23:55Still, it took a feeble foxtrot, mediocre mambo, and rigid rumba before she was finally sent
24:01packing.
24:02Even her partner, Mark Ballas, admitted she, quote, wasn't the best dancing partner and
24:07said dancing was not her thing.
24:15Whether it was nerves or simply a lack of coordination, it was surprising she avoided
24:20elimination for as long as she did.
24:22Kim apparently struggled to find her stride on the dance floor, later telling future contestant
24:26Milo Manheim, quote,
24:42We're not sure her brother Rob would agree, given he made it all the way to the final.
24:46Number 28.
24:47Carole Baskin's Samba.
24:49Actually, just Carole Baskin.
24:51Season 29.
24:52Dancing with the Stars is no stranger to controversial casting choices, but this was one of the
24:57strangest.
25:08Baskin joined the show following the buzz from the Netflix docuseries Tiger King, yet the
25:12dance show's casting team seemingly decided to overlook some of the docuseries' biggest
25:16controversies.
25:17Baskin clawed her way to week three of the competition before getting eliminated after
25:22a Lion King-inspired samba.
25:23Even she realized her performance put her in jeopardy and took to social media to plead
25:28for votes, claiming she was only there to support her company, Big Cat Rescue.
25:32Dancing is extremely hard for me, and I need all of your votes that I could possibly get.
25:38In case you're wondering why I'm doing this, it's because this is keeping the cats in the
25:43spotlight.
25:44Still, the audience decided the sun had set on her time on the show.
25:47In the circle, the circle of life.
25:58Number 27.
25:59Rumors that Cristian de la Fuente faked his injury.
26:03Season 6.
26:04The actor, who was partnered with Cheryl Burke in the series' sixth season, made it all
26:08the way to the final following a string of solid performances.
26:11One of the most memorable moments was their week seven samba, which may have started off
26:16sizzling, but soon fizzled out when it became clear that something had gone very wrong.
26:25The actor suddenly lost step with his partner and was seen clutching his arm.
26:29Although he tried to carry on, he simply couldn't hide his pain.
26:43To quite literally add insult to injury, some suspected that this was just a ruse to get
26:48the sympathy vote.
26:49Of course, de la Fuente has rebuffed the claims.
26:52Come on.
26:53Can't stake it.
26:54You know why people think it?
26:54Because I just saw the footage when we walked to Tom, and you just said, I just pulled a
27:00muscle really bad.
27:01Well, I thought it was just, it's not that you pop the tendon every week.
27:08Number 26.
27:09Erin Andrews' badly timed expression.
27:12Season 20.
27:13If you have an expressive face, you know it can sometimes get you in awkward situations.
27:17Just ask then-host Erin Andrews.
27:20She was caught on camera looking supposedly bored, while semi-finalist Noah Galloway proposed
27:24to his then-girlfriend Jamie Boyd.
27:26This song, The Time of My Life, you give that to me.
27:30And, you know, I've got to do this here, because this-
27:39Andrews quickly jumped in to defend herself, claiming she was just trying to keep herself
27:43from bursting into tears.
27:45She even shared a photo of the moment on her socials, apologizing for her, quote, ugly
27:49cry face.
27:50Despite her efforts to set the record straight, the story had already stolen the spotlight.
27:55Erin Andrews taking some heat online today.
27:57People saying she rolled her eyes, and I think that was her cry face.
28:01It was.
28:01And when the cameras were off, like, we were still in the red room back there, and she
28:05was emotional.
28:05Well, we guess that's the gamble you take when you pop the question on live television.
28:09Forget the judge's scores.
28:11What do you have to say about that?
28:12I'm speechless.
28:13Number 25, the Jamie Lynn Spears drama, season 32.
28:18The younger Spears sister faced backlash when it was revealed she'd be joining Dancing
28:22with the Stars amid the ongoing drama around Britney's conservatorship and their strained
28:26relationship.
28:27Spears was eliminated in week two, with some speculating that the Britney army rallied to
28:32vote her out.
28:33Jamie Lynn and Alan.
28:42Soon after, rumors swirled about a, quote, secret deal she made with the show, supposedly
28:47securing her a full fee typically reserved for finalists.
28:57The plot thickened when she joined the UK's I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, where
29:02apparently celebrities are only paid if they get through the first 72 hours.
29:06She left that show for medical reasons, but surprised everyone by returning for the Dancing
29:10with the Stars final just a week later.
29:18Number 24, Tom Bergeron drags the series for casting Sean Spicer, season 28.
29:24As we've seen, a little controversy rarely keeps anyone off the dance floor.
29:28However, then-host Tom Bergeron thought the producers crossed the line when they announced
29:32former Trump press secretary Sean Spicer for season 28.
29:36This former showrunner says to me, you might want to sit down for this last one.
29:41I said, why?
29:43And then they told me who it was.
29:45Bergeron had advised showrunners to avoid the political realm, especially with the 2020
29:49elections looming.
29:50So he felt, quote, betrayed when they cast such a polarizing figure.
29:55He was further angered when the show suggested ending his contract early, rather than letting
29:59him sit the season out as he had suggested.
30:02Frustrated, Bergeron went public with his opinions without warning ABC, saying they, quote,
30:06didn't deserve to know.
30:08And they weren't aware you were going to be posting this, obviously.
30:11No, no, no.
30:12Not anyone.
30:13They didn't deserve to know.
30:15You know, they screwed me, I'm going to screw them.
30:17This also led to his exit as host.
30:20So at that moment, I knew this is probably my last season.
30:25Because of that one decision.
30:27Because of that one betrayal.
30:30Number 23.
30:31How is Michael Bolton supposed to live without an apology from Bruno?
30:35Season 11.
30:36Sometimes Bruno Tonioli's over-the-top style overshadows his talent for delivering brutally
30:41honest critiques.
30:42Okay, Bruno, what was the temple rub going on?
30:45Michael, I am a dog lover.
30:47But you make it so hard for me.
30:50You should have kept that bone and gone back into the doghouse.
30:53Still, Bruno found himself in the doghouse after delivering a particularly harsh criticism
30:58of Michael Bolton's jive.
31:00Yes, the dance was bad, and perhaps Bruno could have broken that to him more gently.
31:04I think this is probably the worst jive in 11 seasons.
31:08No, that's not true.
31:10That's unfair.
31:11For me?
31:11And unfair.
31:12Well, I hated it.
31:13Well, okay, you hated it.
31:15But you should keep some of the comments to yourself, really, because that is unfair.
31:19Still, Bolton is hardly the first or last celeb to have their dance skills receive such
31:23a savage tongue lashing.
31:25So we'd say it was quite a stretch for the singer to expect an apology from the judge,
31:29whose job it is to, well, judge.
31:32At least Bruno didn't go as far as to call the dance barking, though it certainly was a
31:36rough performance.
31:48It's no secret that athlete Hope Solo and her partner, Maxim Schmierkowski, didn't get
31:53along off the dance floor.
31:55That didn't stop Max from clashing with head judge Len Goodman after a particularly harsh
31:59critique following their Broadway Week performance.
32:01I've been in this business for nearly 50 years.
32:04My criteria to judge is different to the audience.
32:08Goodman's fellow judges called out Max's attitude, but he continued to double down later on.
32:13With all the respect, this is my show.
32:15You know, I help make it what it is.
32:17I love every aspect of it.
32:19I love every professional that's ever been here, and I love every celebrity that puts
32:23effort into every week.
32:24In her autobiography, Solo claimed Max was frustrated due to backstage whispers that it
32:29was their week to go home.
32:30Still, it was certainly shocking to hear Max share his opinion so boldly.
32:35Everybody's putting a lot of effort.
32:37Everybody on that balcony has been dying and killing themselves only to hear your guys'
32:44little judgmental comments.
32:45Also, whether the backstage rumors were true or his outburst swayed the producers, the
32:50couple sailed through to the semifinals.
32:53Number 21.
32:54Tamar Braxton makes it back from hospital in Time to Dance.
32:58Season 21.
32:59During a dress rehearsal, the singer and TV personality had to rush to the hospital after
33:04falling ill with what was initially thought to be pneumonia.
33:07Tamar has not yet returned from the hospital.
33:10According to the rules, the judges are going to be scoring a tape of her performance from
33:15today's dress rehearsal.
33:16Her absence was announced at the start of the live show, but it was shocking when she
33:20returned to the ballroom that night to avoid disqualification.
33:23This is a woman who clearly, despite everything she's been through, is making a determined
33:29effort to be here to continue to compete in this competition.
33:33It was later revealed that she was actually suffering from, quote, something way more serious.
33:38The duo was scored on their dress rehearsal.
33:40But given everything she'd been through, seeing her back on the dance floor for the group number
33:44was a big surprise.
33:46Ultimately, she withdrew from the competition to focus on her recovery.
33:50In an Instagram post late Tuesday night, the real host wrote in part, quote,
33:54With a heavy heart, I regret to inform you that my season of Dancing with the Stars has
33:59come to an end.
34:00Still, talk about the show must go on.
34:03Number 20.
34:04Juan Pablo de Pache gets eliminated.
34:06Season 27.
34:07No one could hide their shock when this couple just missed out on a place in the finals.
34:13The Fuller House star and his partner, Cheryl, had just received two perfect scores, following
34:18yet another perfect score the week before.
34:21So when their names weren't called, you could feel the studio-wide shock radiate through the
34:26screen.
34:27Alexis and Alan.
34:32Karian Inaba called the decision, quote, wrong, while Len exclaimed that there was, quote,
34:38no justice.
34:39Perhaps fans just assumed the couple would be safe, given their amazing performances and
34:44high scores every week.
34:46Some even questioned whether this was really a dance competition or just a popularity contest.
34:52Were you just as shocked?
34:54Yeah.
34:55Yeah, I mean, you know, we wanted to go to the finals.
34:57At least the finals.
34:59Yeah, we deserved to go to the finals.
35:01Number 19.
35:02Tyra Banks calls out the wrong names.
35:04Season 29.
35:06The next safe couple is...
35:14Monica and Val.
35:15Due to a behind-the-scenes error, Tyra Banks joined the infamous ranks of presenters who
35:20have called out the wrong name while announcing results.
35:23Confusion ensued when, after revealing the bottom two, Tyra was alerted that the names on her cue
35:29cards were actually incorrect.
35:31There's actually been an error.
35:33I'm looking right now, and we have three couples.
35:36So we need to clarify this for one second.
35:38As a result, Monica Aldama and her partner Val were asked to return.
35:43Banks handled the situation like the pro we all know she is, explaining that this is live
35:47television, and mistakes do happen.
35:50Please have Monica come back.
35:52There's been an error in our control room that we're making it happen.
35:57This is live TV, right?
35:59This is the craziness of live TV.
36:01An executive producer even confirmed that the error came from the control room.
36:05At least after all this mess, Monica and Val were saved from elimination.
36:10I mean, it was just a surreal moment.
36:13It was like we went from 0 to 100, back down to 0 really fast.
36:18Number 18.
36:19Bristol Palin makes it to the finals.
36:22Season 11.
36:23This polarizing figure had consistently low scores across the entire season, so it was hard
36:28to understand how she ended up in the finals, especially as the consistently high-scoring
36:33Brandi was eliminated instead.
36:35Even her partner, Mark Ballas, publicly acknowledged that she wasn't the best dancer.
36:40Yes!
36:41Don't tell me you can't do it, Bristol.
36:43The longer Palin remained, the more the viewers started to speculate that political supporters
36:47of her mother were voting en masse to keep her in.
36:51Nevertheless, Palin was getting people talking, and as a result, the show enjoyed the boost in
36:56ratings.
36:57We will never be, never be anything but love.
37:01Number 17.
37:02Judges falling over.
37:04Multiple seasons.
37:05Let the baby-making begin!
37:08That was ridiculous.
37:10How about...
37:10Oh!
37:13We know that the judges are passionate about what they do, but sometimes that passion overflows
37:19so much that they find themselves literally floored by it.
37:23While Len generally managed to remain seated when he was a judge, the same can't be said
37:28for Bruno and Carrie-Anne.
37:30Okay, alright, calm down.
37:31What's happening?
37:32Carrie-Anne.
37:38I've been waiting ten seasons for this.
37:41He's not too often.
37:42They have an occasional tendency to get so carried away that they end up falling off of
37:48their chairs.
37:49On one occasion, Tom accidentally distracted the judge, who then didn't notice that her
37:53chair had rolled away.
38:01Once you know that they're okay, you can't help but laugh.
38:04You might even call it the highest form of flattery when a judge is that moved by your performance.
38:10A performance so good, it had Carrie-Anne Anaba falling out of her chair.
38:15We have that effect on our fans.
38:17Yeah, they weren't kidding.
38:24During rehearsals for most memorable year, White and his partner Kim Johnson supposedly had an altercation
38:30that we're sure they'd both rather forget.
38:35It was reported that the actor flipped out on his partner after he accidentally stepped on her foot.
38:41The unfolding of events that was later reported was supposedly quite intense.
38:46Allegedly, it got so bad that Mark Ballas and Donald Driver had to intervene.
38:50Of course, White denied that things got that out of control, as did Ballas and Johnson.
38:55Jaleel also claims reports of him fighting with dance partner Kim Johnson are overblown and that she supports him.
39:02We get that people get overly competitive, stressed out, and exhausted.
39:06And we hope that this story was simply exaggerated.
39:09Jaleel never got discouraged.
39:11He came in, he wanted to do the best every single week, and he gave it his all.
39:17He was amazing.
39:18Number 15.
39:19Simone Biles' Shock Elimination.
39:22Season 24.
39:23Did you feel that shift, that change for you?
39:25I did, and I feel like, for me, that's a win in itself.
39:29Whether America votes for it or not, for me, it's like it's fine.
39:33I feel like I've been at a high so much.
39:36The experience was wonderful.
39:37You could hear the disbelief from the audience when Tom announced who wouldn't be making it through to the Season
39:4324 finale.
39:50Even the judges weren't able to mask their shock.
39:52With Julianne and Bruno leaping to their feet, while Carrie-Anne looked stunned and Lenz simply buried his face in
39:59his hands.
40:00Biles and her partner Sasha had scored full marks for both their performances that night, and had been consistently great
40:06throughout the season.
40:07Speaking to Good Morning America, Simone joked that she thought they'd pulled a Steve Harvey on her.
40:12Needless to say, no one could have envisioned this result.
40:16I thought they were going to pull a Steve Harvey on us.
40:20At least I was hoping.
40:23But I've been, it's okay.
40:25Number 14.
40:26Bobby Bones Wins the Mirror Ball.
40:29Season 27.
40:30I can't believe we won.
40:31I cannot believe we won.
40:32While winning the Mirror Ball is usually a cause for celebration, on this occasion, it left us scratching our heads.
40:39Up against three, to be honest, far more deserving contestants, no offense, no one, not even Bobby himself, expected to
40:46hear his name announced as the Season 27 winner.
40:49Bobby and Sharna.
40:57In fact, ahead of the finale, he claimed in an interview that, quote, no one expected me to win.
41:03It must have been his loyal fan base that took him all the way to the end, because it certainly
41:08wasn't his dance abilities.
41:10He was the underdog of the competition, and he rode that wave all the way to the trophy.
41:17Three months later, well, still clueless.
41:20Number 13.
41:21Zendaya finishes runner-up.
41:23Season 16.
41:25Are you so proud of what you have accomplished, making it this far?
41:28I am.
41:28I'm very proud, and I'm very happy, and I get to leave here, you know, with an amazing experience, so
41:32I'm happy.
41:33Zendaya spent many weeks at the top of the leaderboard, and was the frontrunner to win Season 16.
41:39Three words I never thought I'd say week one.
41:43That was great.
41:45Yet, when it came to announcing the season's winner, it was Kelly Pickler and Derek Hough who lifted the mirror
41:51ball.
41:51Kelly and Derek!
41:54Admittedly, Kelly was a phenomenal dancer, but fans still felt that Zendaya had been unjustly denied.
42:00Even her partner Val agreed, saying that he'd, quote,
42:04drop the ball a little bit, and wish they could have a do-over so he could see his partner
42:08lift the trophy.
42:09Tonight I want to show you all
42:14What you got
42:17A billion could have never bought
42:19Perhaps they could get her back for an all-star season, and add a mirror ball to her ever-growing
42:24collection of awards.
42:26Number 12.
42:27Kelly Monaco vs. John O'Hurley
42:29Who's the right winner?
42:31Season 1.
42:32It was the first season of this critically acclaimed series, and already the competition was heating up.
42:38Will it be John and Charlotte or Kelly and Alex?
42:43Find out live right after this.
42:46Although initially starting off the season without much fanfare, soap opera star Kelly Monaco made it as one of the
42:52finalists,
42:53facing off against the charming and talented television actor John O'Hurley.
42:57All right, John and Charlotte, Kelly and Alex, deep cleansing breath, okay?
43:01With the winner to be decided by the viewers, victory went to the underdog Monaco for a dance that was
43:07called the performance of the series.
43:09Kelly and Alex!
43:12Due to the controversial nature of the win, however, the pairs were again matched in an unprecedented face-off that
43:19shocked fans,
43:20especially after O'Hurley's surprise win.
43:23And ladies and gentlemen, I give you the winners of the Dancing with the Stars, dance-off, John and Charlotte.
43:31Number 11.
43:33Willow Shields.
43:34Youngest star, axed too soon.
43:37Season 20.
43:38Despite being the youngest contestant ever to appear on the award-winning show at the time,
43:42the young Hunger Games actress became one of the frontrunners in the competition.
43:46Alongside professional dancer Mark Ballas, Shields delighted audiences with her passion, grace, and technique,
43:53adapting to dance style after dance style with a fervor unmatched by most of her fellow contestants.
43:59You might be the youngest competitor that we've ever had, but girl, you got some sass!
44:04That was awesome!
44:05However, despite being headed straight for the finals and being both a judge and audience favorite,
44:11Shields was eliminated in a stunning twist during Week 7, leaving the judges, and her fans, devastated.
44:18She's only 14, guys.
44:19She's out there dancing, keeping up with everybody.
44:23Thank you again for everything.
44:24It's been a hell of a ride.
44:25I couldn't be more proud.
44:27This is all about her for me, and I'm just really, really proud.
44:30Number 10.
44:31Chyna Forgets Routine, Season 13.
44:34Chyna, you actually showed such grace, knowing, knowing you had made that mistake,
44:39and Tony, you were just a gallant gentleman trying to coach her through that.
44:43Singer Chyna Phillips, a feisty member of the well-known 90s band Wilson Phillips,
44:48was favored to do well in the 13th season of Dancing with the Stars.
44:52With an ideal dancing physique and skilled partner Tony Dovolani at her side,
44:56all was going well until the fateful fourth week.
45:05With the dancers setting their routines to famous movie scores,
45:08Chyna began a sultry tango to the melody of Mission Impossible,
45:12until she apparently forgot her routine partway through,
45:16resulting in awkward movements, confused steps, and mid-routine commands from her patient partner.
45:22Although they hoped for a second chance, America would have none of it, and they were eliminated.
45:27Number 9.
45:29Sarah Evans Bows Out, Season 3.
45:32It is country diva Sarah Evans and her professional partner Tony Dovolani.
45:38In September 2006, Evans joined the lineup as the series' first country music singer,
45:43quickly developing a devoted fan base and becoming a favorite of the judges
45:47with her charming manner and considerable talent.
45:50Although doing well in the polls, her appearance in the show couldn't have had worse timing,
45:55as marital problems with her husband of 13 years came to a swift and bitter climax,
46:00with a divorce that triggered her departure.
46:03You know, I was on the phone with, you know, my family all night,
46:06and we were all agreeable that you cannot continue the show,
46:10you can't leave your son who's traumatized right now.
46:14It was a move that came as a devastating blow to judges and fans alike,
46:18despite her apology and statement that she needed to, quote,
46:22give her family her full attention at that difficult time.
46:25So I just needed to, you know, take care of my children, and I knew that,
46:29and I knew that nothing in my career, no television show, nothing was more important than that.
46:37Number 8.
46:37Swine Flu Disaster, Season 9.
46:40Tonight, with his partner on sick leave, he's dancing with a last-minute replacement.
46:45It was a season of persistent injuries and illnesses,
46:48but none quite so shocking as the contagious swine flu pandemic.
46:52Usually Derek comes in full of energy, but from the beginning, he was not his normal self.
46:57And look, that's it.
47:02Professional dancer Derek Hough was blindsided first.
47:06With what started as sweating and fatigue,
47:08and soon escalated into a crippling condition that left him unable to compete with his partner,
47:12Polish actress and model Joanna Krupa,
47:15more professional dancers soon fell to the ravages of the flu,
47:18with Lacey Schwimmer and Karina Smirnoff as the next to surrender to the sickness,
47:22and even one of the celebrities, singer Aaron Carter,
47:26in a season where no contestant was safe.
47:29Number 7.
47:30Kate Gosselin Makes Tony Devolani Want to Quit, Season 10.
47:35Oh, without a doubt, I'm going to prove them wrong.
47:37I'm going to prove everybody wrong, including myself.
47:41Scary.
47:42The tension and stress that come with hours of rehearsing and performing can get to a person,
47:47which is where empathy, cooperation, and teamwork come into play.
47:51Apparently, no one told Kate Gosselin that.
47:54Kate has no motivation, and I have to push her each week.
47:57And it gets exhausting.
47:58And forward step.
48:01Wow, that was more energy?
48:04I'm still thinking about which way to go.
48:06The frustrated reality TV star and best-selling author could just not get along with her professional dancing partner,
48:12Tony Devolani.
48:13Complaining and berating him for his inability to teach,
48:17leading to an explosive exit that left fans shocked.
48:20How was it dancing with Kate?
48:22I think it was pretty obvious.
48:24Although the two made up and stayed safe for the next few weeks of the season,
48:29they were soon eliminated in week five.
48:32Number 6.
48:33Normani Corday finishes third, Season 24.
48:37Who among us wasn't positive that Normani and Val would be crowned the Season 24 champions?
48:42After all, they never failed to leave us astonished with their inventive, ambitious,
48:48and more often than not, flawless routines.
48:51Baby, there's nothing holding me back.
48:56So you can imagine the reaction when not only did she not win,
48:59but she finished in third place.
49:02Instead, it was Rashad Jennings and partner Emma who gained the win.
49:06Given all the hype,
49:07even Normani had to admit that she was left shocked by the results.
49:10Although, we're sure it brought her some comfort
49:13to hear the studio audience booing at this injustice.
49:18Normani and Val.
49:22Number 5.
49:24Master P, Master of None, Season 2.
49:27It's rap mogul Master P and his patient partner, Ashley Del Grosso.
49:33Best known as a rapper from the 90s, but most certainly not a dancer.
49:37Master P stepped in in place of his injured son, Romeo Miller,
49:40as a contestant on the show,
49:42but quickly made his mark as a fish that was really, really out of water.
49:46It needs to be equal teamwork, and I can't, I can't play a tug of war anymore.
49:53Although his long-suffering professional partner, Ashley Del Grosso,
49:56did everything she could, P's dancing hurt to watch,
50:00leaving him with the lowest all-time score from the judges with a measly 8 points.
50:05The viewers weren't as quick to give up on P,
50:08allowing him to make it all the way to week 4 before getting eliminated.
50:16Number 4.
50:18Marie Osmond Faints, Season 5.
50:21Dancing the Samba, Marie Osmond, and her partner, Jonathan Roberts.
50:25Having just finished a lively Samba, complete with flushed face and heavy breathing,
50:31it was still hard to have expected this memorable moment that came just instantly into the judges' evaluation of her
50:36dance with partner Jonathan Roberts.
50:39With Judge Len Goodman partway through his critique,
50:42Marie Osmond closed her eyes and collapsed to the ground.
50:45In a feint that left her partner, host Tom Bergeron, and the audience surprised and worried as the show cut
50:52to commercial break.
50:53Alright, we're going to take a commercial break, we'll be right back, and we'll be right back after this.
50:59Whether a ploy to gain extra points or a legitimate spell,
51:02it was still a moment viewers will not likely forget.
51:06Number 3.
51:08Two early exits for Sabrina Bryan, Season 5 and Season 15.
51:12The former Cheetah Girl joined the show during Season 5, where she was partnered with Mark Ballas.
51:18Every week, they outdanced the competition, even earning the first perfect score of the season.
51:24However, when their foxtrot failed to overly impress the viewers, they were sent packing.
51:29The general consensus is that you're going to win the whole thing, so, I mean, this must still be stinging.
51:35It's hard for us.
51:37Bryan was then brought back for the All-Star season in 2012,
51:40this time partnering with Louis van Amstel.
51:43We were once more convinced that she would be the competition's frontrunner,
51:46until her second shock elimination.
51:50Sabrina and Louis.
52:00What made this even crazier was that she was again booted in Week 6,
52:05exactly five years to the day since the first time.
52:08It's hard to go home, but at the same time, I think last night was incredible.
52:13It was an incredible feeling, and, you know.
52:15Number 2.
52:16Heather Morris' Shocking Elimination, Season 24.
52:20Season 24 frontrunners Heather Morris and fan-favorite dancer Maxim Schmierkowski
52:25were a match made in dancing heaven,
52:28until they were brutally eliminated in a shocking twist of events.
52:32After a perfect score, Heather and Max.
52:35Despite having received the first perfect score of the season from judges,
52:39the votes were simply not there.
52:41Yet many questioned whether Morris,
52:44who starred in the hit TV dramedy Glee,
52:46and who also worked as a backup dancer for Beyonce,
52:49should have been allowed on the show in the first place.
52:52In any case, we'll miss you, Brittany.
52:54Sorry, Heather.
53:01Number 1.
53:03Ryan Lochte Gets Ambushed, Season 23.
53:06My biggest regret is letting other people down.
53:10And now I want to prove to the world that I've changed.
53:16Talk about unsettling.
53:17Yes, nothing is quite as shocking as the moment your show gets interrupted by unwelcome visitors,
53:22especially when these came from the other side of the television screen.
53:26As swimmer Ryan Lochte began his first dance with professional partner Cheryl Burke,
53:31two hecklers from the audience ran on stage wearing anti-Lochte t-shirts
53:35in protest of his behavior at the Olympics in Brazil.
53:38Despite being escorted from the stage with loud protests coming from Judge Carrie Ananaba,
53:49The incident left Lochte, the audience, and the viewers at home stunned and a little disturbed.
