00:00The 950-year-old Bayou Tapestry is officially inside the British Museum to open for public
00:05viewing on the 10th of September. July marked the first time in nearly 1,000 years the Bayou
00:10Tapestry was back on UK soil, arriving at the British Museum under a strict police escort in
00:15the dead of night. The iconic 70-metre medieval masterpiece depicts the 1066 Norman Conquest
00:20and the Battle of Hastings, showing how William the Conqueror seized the English throne. Although
00:24created in England nearly a millennium ago, it's been housed in Normandy for decades. French
00:29President Emmanuel Macron called the landmark loan a sign of long-standing friendship between the
00:33two nations. Its arrival from Normandy has triggered unprecedented demand. When general admission
00:38tickets went on sale last month, the British Museum recorded the single biggest day of ticket sales in
00:43its history, generating more than £2.4 million in just 24 hours. If you missed out, the next wave of
00:49public tickets for visits early next year will officially go on sale on the 21st of October.
00:54Around 7.5 million visitors are expected to see the historic exhibition in London before it heads back
01:00to France in July 2027. So if you're looking to get tickets, expect some fierce competition.
