After high-profile disruptions derailed play at the US Open, tennis traditionalists and players are drawing a hard line against influencer behavior in the stands.

From matches being paused mid-rally for ring-light photoshoots to credential scandals involving vendor access passes, the tension between brand-sponsored content creation and court etiquette has reached a breaking point. While media insiders argue that brands are paying creators specifically to produce content, elite tournaments are taking drastic action to preserve the sport's decorum.

As London prepares for its next championship, tennis fans are left debating whether influencer culture went too far or if legacy sports are refusing to adapt to modern media.

00:03Yeah, I think it's like any venue you come to, you have to follow the etiquette.
00:07After total chaos broke out at the U.S. Open, Wimbledon is stepping in to cut off content creator credentials
00:12before they ruin London Next.
00:14In an effort to attract younger fans, the U.S. Open handed out nearly 100 creator credentials.
00:18But across social media, people in the stands were complaining about creator behavior.
00:23The USTA says the people who actually caused the disruptions weren't even part of the official program.
00:28But that still hasn't stopped their changes for 2027.
00:31Because during Naomi Osaka's first round match, play was literally paused mid-rally because a group of influencers set up
00:37actual ring lights and flash photography in a suite for a live TikTok photo shoot.
00:42Osaka slammed the move for lacking basic common courtesy, while Jessica Pagula called pulling out selfie lights during someone's professional
00:48job disrespectful.
00:49To make matters worse, two influencers behind the account, the VIP list, had their passes yanked after a food vendor
00:56improperly listed them as staff to get them credentials, a clear violation of USTA's rules.
01:01But not everyone's putting this on the creators.
01:04Media personality Bolano Lakhani pushed back hard, saying,
01:07Brands are the ones who book influencers and pay them to attend events.
01:11They're expected to create content, to use lights and shoot videos.
01:14It's literally why they are paid.
01:16But seeing the circus in New York, the All England Club drew the line.
01:20Wimbledon announced that there will be zero dedicated media credentials for creators in 2027.
01:25And security will actively confiscate ring lights at the gates.
01:29Creators can still buy a ticket like any other fan.
01:31But the VIP photo shoots and media badges are officially canceled.
