00:03University Science Malaysia staff came together on Wednesday to celebrate Malaysia Day with a
00:10patriotic walk around the university's main campus. Professors, administrative staff and
00:16other university personnel took part in the celebration, waving the Jalur Jemilang and
00:22singing patriotic songs. The celebration not only brought out the participants' patriotic spirit,
00:28but also gave them an opportunity to bond, work together and connect with colleagues from
00:34different backgrounds. Today's celebration we are so blessed because USM is organizing this kind of
00:40wonderful event where all the departments in USM celebrate one day, we call it one Malaysian Day,
00:46well it's just on the 16th, but we are very happy because it's not about winning the competition,
00:52but it's about what I call the spirits of a national of Malaysia. The celebration also featured creative
00:57displays with staff members showcasing props and costumes they had made themselves, including a
01:03Jalur Jemilang crafted from egg cartons. The parade was a new addition to USM's Malaysia Day celebrations,
01:10which had previously featured singing competitions. A total of 32 departments took part in the parade
01:17around the campus. USM Vice-Chancellor Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed said the event aimed to
01:25promote patriotism, togetherness and love for the country, while encouraging staff to lead healthy
01:31and active lifestyles. He added that such activities also allowed people from different backgrounds to
01:37interact and strengthen relationships in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere.
