00:00Well here we go then, Fluminense against Platense, quarterfinals of the Libertadores.
00:08Almires or Ecuador's La Liga in the semi-finals for one of these two teams.
00:17Oh get used to seeing that, such a big powerful player as Letamar dinks this one inside the area.
00:29Long knee.
00:35Platense now wanting to get their forward move. He is not intimidated at all the Venezuelan.
00:46Despite the lack of height, see what Gansa can do, curls it in beautifully, very good claim under pressure
00:53from Korsani and then goes down in a heap.
01:01New rules regarding keepers have not yet come in to South America.
01:08Fell a little bit awkwardly.
01:13That was the moment Maneiro made contact with the Venezuelan,
01:18and that was previous before the run inside the area,
01:21and he said a few choice were nodded back by Victor Presta to his keeper.
01:27He said a few choice were nodded back by Victor Presta to his keeper.
01:32Instructions there from Martín Palermo.
01:47Retamar to pounce and has a long-range shot.
01:51It's our first real effort on goal with 18 minutes gone but easy for the 45-year-old Fabio.
01:58Kevin Retamar has been light supplied by Questa, 187 Sepúlveda, 185.
02:06All reaches neither.
02:10And Silva couldn't really get his foot around that one.
02:15And Ganso stabs it forward. Now a break on here for Fluminense.
02:19Chance here for Fluminense as they break down the center.
02:23Keeper commits. And Fluminense take the lead.
02:28The break away run. Nonato led the charge.
02:36Of course, Sani raced off his line, could not get enough on it.
02:40And Fluminense are in front.
02:52Quick thinking.
02:54Hulk it was who spotted the run.
02:59Nonato, a lot of space to maneuver into.
03:02And though Kwasani got a touch.
03:04It was not enough to keep the ball out at the back of the net.
03:09And Fluminense take the lead on the 21st minute mark.
03:14Great pass from Hulk.
03:18Terrific vision.
03:21From the number seven.
03:23Nonato not having to break any kind of pace as he
03:27steamed down the center.
03:30And Fluminense's first real chance of the match.
03:34Sees them take the lead.
03:50Again, there's a bit of space here for Retama.
03:55He's got options.
03:57Goes for glory.
03:59Straight onto the head with the Colombian defender.
04:01Mijan.
04:04Maybe a bit rushed there from the number 43.
04:11Silver.
04:13So cool under pressure.
04:15Selbs.
04:17Senna.
04:20Play of from Hulk.
04:24Nornato keeps it alive.
04:28Now there is space here for Ganso.
04:30Again tries to throw it through.
04:31Chance for number two.
04:34Hulk finds that gap.
04:37Patense find themselves two goals down.
04:42The deliveries
04:45for the final shot on goal have been excellent from Fluminense.
04:49Ganso to Hulk on that occasion.
04:5230 minutes gone.
04:55Second goal for the home side.
04:56Is he on side?
04:58I would say.
04:59Very tight, but just about.
05:04Again, Gorsani commits.
05:09And Hulk just curls it into the back of the net.
05:13Right now, Fluminense leading by two goals to nil.
05:18And with only 30 minutes on the clock,
05:21have a real chance to establish a convincing lead here
05:25in front of their own supporters.
05:29Bit of pressure.
05:31Took a deflection on its way in.
05:33Corner to Patense.
05:35Getting the shots on that occasion from Barrios.
05:39A very, very long way out.
05:49Set pieces away forward for the Argentines.
06:02Manero to send this one inside the area.
06:05Away by Thiago Silva.
06:06It's not put a foot wrong until he gets there first,
06:08and then it's ballooned into the night sky.
06:13Retomar, under pressure from Henné.
06:17Henné, it's Manero, it's a trip.
06:19We're going to get our first yellow card to the night.
06:24Crowd baying for our referee to step in.
06:27Now a little bit of space.
06:31Aside from Buenos Aires.
06:33If they can move the ball a bit quicker.
06:38Finally out to Manero from Barrios.
06:43It would appear that the order of a day is just to swing that ball inside
06:46the area as quickly as possible.
06:48Is now Patense racing in.
06:51Can they do something here?
06:53They've lacked that bit of punch so far.
06:56Sepulveda didn't really get the pace.
06:59Couldn't have the pace to get away from the back line.
07:04And that lack of punch.
07:08What it cost.
07:11Patense in this tight.
07:14Still a long way to go.
07:21Lagos, the decent throw inside the area.
07:24Agent Manero.
07:26Can't weave away through silver.
07:32Got away from Guga.
07:36Clock ticking down at the end of this first half.
07:40Again, it's another long range effort.
07:43Again, it's wasted Barrios on that occasion.
07:48Second goal.
07:54Very cool finish.
07:56From Hulk.
07:58And the look.
08:00From Martin Palermo says it all.
08:03That one from Hulk, a keeping possession.
08:09And the moment I say it, I give it away.
08:12Mineiro was rather theatrical.
08:17Three minutes have come and gone.
08:23Maybe a pot shot is on the cards, but it's silver is available down that left-hand channel.
08:29And it's just given away again.
08:31How many times have we seen that tonight from Patense?
08:34Fluminense in these situations, and our referee brings this first half to an end.
08:43Fluminense and their supporters will go into the changing rooms.
08:50Fluminense, very, very happy.
08:52Quarter-finals, first leg.
08:55Second half about to get underweight.
08:58Fluminense in control.
09:01Goals from Nonato and Hulk.
09:04Now put them in a good position.
09:0745 more minutes to come, though, here, from Rio de Janeiro.
09:11Second leg to come next week in Buenos Aires.
09:14You've got the most dangerous outfield player for Patense.
09:20This is where it's tended to break down.
09:24And a snapshot sails well wide of a target.
09:29That sums up Patense, really, in front of goal tonight.
09:36They've been shooting from some very, very long distances.
09:41Barrios on that occasion.
09:43And probably under instructions from this man here, it might pay off.
09:46Looking around.
09:48And support is racing for it.
09:50Silver and the orange boots.
09:52Although Dali tried to squeeze in something.
09:55Should get themselves a corner here.
09:58Patense.
10:03Just bounced off the Venezuelan and was shrugged to the floor by Retama.
10:10And then the ball coming off the shins of Thiago Silva.
10:17There's a chance here for the Argentines, but it's a chance it disappears very, very quick.
10:23Fluminense fans are wanting a free kick, naturally enough.
10:31Again, good defensive work from Gantz.
10:34So, Gantz is trying to tell his side to calm down a bit.
10:37Maybe that is the issue when they get into these areas that
10:40Patense enabled to string the passes together.
10:43Now Guga.
10:44Can he keep it in play?
10:46Well, he can.
10:47Can he do anything with it?
10:54And Guga again.
10:57Once again, great work from Fluminense.
10:59Holt gets a touch.
11:00So, Teldo was the Venezuelan.
11:06Was he the man caught offside?
11:12There's Guga, in fact.
11:20Marcinelli involved, looking at the assistant referees.
11:26Side relegated to the third division.
11:30Got promoted.
11:32Let's see what Platense can do here.
11:35That's its tributant.
11:36Chance.
11:36A vague opportunity.
11:39And just about dealt with by Fluminense.
11:43Looks around as they perhaps screen for a potential penalty.
11:48Platense and Fluminense fans wanted Henné to get a move on there.
11:52And it didn't really do so.
11:54Oh, there's no time-wasting.
11:55That's a short from Platense.
12:05Way by Silva, only partially.
12:07And this time, it is left.
12:16This isn't a rare corner for Fluminense and Guga.
12:20Trying to get the Fluminense fans going here in the Maracana.
12:38Fluminense supporters lifting their voices.
12:46And Platense just fail to do anything with a loose ball.
12:56Fluminense untroubled here for quite a while now.
13:06Swell of possession for the Argentines.
13:09Fluminense untroubled here for quite a while now.
13:11And the referee comes to an end.
13:12And the referee, when he reached for a card, he does so.
13:15Like Cuesta flying in on Martinelli.
13:25That little bit of trickery.
13:27Leaving Cuesta behind.
13:30He says he didn't make contact.
13:35Referee saw it differently.
13:39First card of the night.
13:42Can Platense punch her away through?
13:54Oto on the far side.
13:55Again, the first tie in volley.
13:57Another corner to Fluminense.
14:00So far, Platense unable to take advantage of these set pieces.
14:03He says it was Vasquez, the captain, who took a wild swing.
14:07And Galto wants to water camp.
14:10Spell in Switzerland with Basil.
14:13With another high delivery.
14:15Two white shirts go for it.
14:17And hammered clear.
14:19Silver in the center circle.
14:30It's not a bad ball inside the area, but it was a coming together of two players.
14:35And that will go.
14:37Fluminense is way up again.
14:38Platense struggling to find a way through.
14:43Might get something here.
14:46Alto could not get his foot wrapped around it.
14:52Fluminense again sitting very deep.
14:57We're about to make a triple swap.
15:04Perhaps happy with what they've got.
15:10Gautam will let it go.
15:19Aside from Buenos Aires.
15:26Quality just has not been there from Platense.
15:31On these set pieces, Fabio commits himself.
15:35And the ball sails harmlessly wide like Cuesta.
15:41Trying to get on the end of it.
15:46Another half opportunity going in.
15:55Referee saw it.
15:57It's Alvaro Lagos down in a heap.
16:07He's got a card out.
16:08Will be the second of the night.
16:13Well, that is debatable, isn't it, in that one?
16:16Sabarino's just come off the bench.
16:19Come sliding in.
16:21There's clearly no malice.
16:24And look at that card on the harsh side.
16:28For the substitute.
16:34Once again, an opportunity to punt this ball forward for Platense.
16:40Swung in by Sepulveda.
16:44Failed to find a teammate.
16:48And that one will not worry Fabio or the Fluminense back line.
16:52Seen it too often.
16:54From Platense this year.
16:56And but can they force a way through?
16:58Two white shirts inside the area.
17:00Far too close and far too easy for Fabio.
17:04He's really had the night off so far.
17:06Tipped for great things.
17:11He's pumped inside the area.
17:13The header.
17:14You can see the idea with a nod down.
17:16But failed to pick out a white shirt.
17:19And in the end up comes the flag on the far side.
17:29Can they do something in stoppage time?
17:33Five perhaps is generous.
17:36From our match official.
17:37But again, they just played themselves out of so many tight corners.
17:41Fluminense now could break here.
17:43Is he on side, Cano?
17:47That is the question.
17:48Fluminense searching for a third keeper.
17:51Has committed.
17:52Maybe that is a let-off there for Platense.
17:57There was a big question mark over a potential offside.
18:00I failed to find the back of the net.
18:08Referee has card out.
18:11Cano it was who raced away.
18:15Even then, when he crosses into the Platense half,
18:20there was a suspicion of a potential offside as Fabio makes the claim.
18:34The pass on reflection would have been the better option.
18:39The pass on reflection would have been the better option.
18:40The pass on reflection would have been the better option.
18:50Let's see a card flashed.
18:55Cano doesn't look what he does there.
18:58But decides he's going to go for glory.
19:04Platense still searching.
19:09They really have failed to impress, though, in the final third.
19:14Could be the downfall in this competition.
19:24A little under two minutes to go.
19:28And it's congested inside the area.
19:31It's Fluminense digging.
19:33For Arana on that far side.
19:36And the referee will bring this one to an end.
19:39And there's a ripple of applause around Amalekana.
19:42More than a ripple, in fact.
19:45You see their side.
19:48We'll go into the next leg with that two-goal cushion away in Buenos Aires.
19:54It's FluminenseBA episode.
