00:00Baker is now a franchise quarterback, which is really all he wanted to be considered, right?
00:05Yeah, three years. It's 55-ish million years, the extension I'm seeing thereabouts.
00:12You know, the question I always had for the Bucs was, if you weren't going to pay Baker, what was
00:19your plan at quarterback?
00:21Because it's not like there are a ton of free agent quarterbacks in the upcoming class.
00:26There's a ton in the draft class, but the Bucs are not vying for a spot to be in the
00:32top five of the draft.
00:33They could very easily win the division in the NFC South, which is wide open as it is every single
00:38year.
00:39So it was really just you have to pay Baker because you don't have many other options.
00:43I'm not going to sit here and say Baker's worth every single dollar.
00:46I think the QB market's a little high. I think Baker's extremely fun.
00:49But 55 million is a lot to pay, but you also don't have any other options.
00:55Yeah, right. Exactly. What is the what's the what's the other option here?
00:59And, you know, I had said if they allow this thing to linger and Baker, to his credit, had what
01:04he had to say beginning a training camp.
01:07And then he got to the point. It's like, listen, I'm not talking about this anymore at this point.
01:11So I'm going to go out there. I'm going to have a great year.
01:14And then it's going to cost them three times the price if they want to keep me.
01:17So and kudos to Baker for handling it that way, because he was betting on himself.
01:21But ultimately, cooler heads prevailed. And I like Todd Bowles.
01:26And I think less drama is more. I mean, listen, Vita Vea, I think, was the one also who said
01:32trade me early on.
01:34What happened to him? Oh, yeah. He got a contract.
01:37Baker Mayfield now he got a contract.
01:39So a little more stability, I think, with the Tampa Bay Bucs, who you can see are sitting as favorites
01:45in the NFC south there.
01:48And I guess we'll know what this defense is all about coming up in week one on Sunday.
01:54Right. Because the Cincinnati Bengals certainly feel and everything coming out of their camp is they're ready to start fast.
02:02And they need to because every year they start on four.
02:05Yeah, they start on four. They're always behind the eight ball.
02:08They're dealing with a ton of injuries. But frankly, the division in the AFC North, that is, for the Bengals,
02:15I want to say, I'm not going to say it's wide open.
02:17I mean, it's a little bit drastic, but it's a two-team race for me.
02:21It's a two-team race between them and the Baltimore Ravens.
02:24And the Ravens, although they have a ton of talent, I think there could be some growing pains for the
02:29Ravens.
02:30Just you got a new OC, you got a new head coach.
02:32Yes, but frankly, that price on the Bengals is pretty, pretty interesting to me at plus 164s, a little bit
02:39higher earlier in the offseason.
02:41But at even money, essentially, for the Ravens to win the AFC North, I don't like those odds.
02:46They could very well end up doing so, but I don't love those odds.
02:51So, I don't love me either, but we're going to find out.
02:56I mean, listen, Todd Bowles, he knows defense.
02:58And if anybody's going to have these guys ready to go here, Ruben Bain and company, it's going to be
03:03him.
03:04And we're going to see what, if it's a same old, same old Cincinnati Bengals to start the season,
03:11or if maybe they've actually turned a corner and Joe Burrow stays healthy and they can put some points on
03:16the board.
03:17I have my doubts. I like the under coming up this weekend, but I love the quotes coming out of
03:23Arizona.
03:24And you know it's good when Nathaniel Hackett, who might be one of the worst offensive coordinators known to mankind,
03:30when Aaron Rodgers isn't the quarterback, I guess.
03:33But not a big fan of Jeremiah Love, apparently, who is now listed as number two on the depth chart
03:40for the Cardinals.
03:41And when Nathaniel Hackett says and quotes his rookie as being, he's definitely a rookie.
03:48Yeah, it sounds like there's some growing up that needs to be done here, Tom.
03:53And let's face it, even Jeremiah Love knows they ain't winning a whole lot of games this year.
03:57But Tyler Algier, that's your RB1 there for the Arizona Cardinals to start the year.
04:04It is a mess for Arizona. It really is. You are in a, I don't know, there's so many things
04:11to say.
04:11You go out and you draft a running back and top bad decision. Jeremiah Love is going to be good.
04:15He's a, he's going to be a good running back, but it doesn't mean that that's the right pick to
04:20make at that time.
04:21Like both things can be true. They're mutually exclusive. He's going to be great.
04:25Right. He'll be a great running back. I'll put up all these yards, all these stats.
04:28It'll be super fun to watch, but it doesn't mean it was the right decision for the Cardinals to make
04:31at that time.
04:32The Cardinals have one of the toughest schedules you could possibly imagine.
04:36The Cardinals could very easily go one in 16 this year, two in 15.
04:41They are looking at a absolute gauntlet when three teams in their division could very easily be going to the
04:48playoffs.
04:48They're going to be underdogs in every single game. They start the season on the road.
04:52You know, they're getting almost 10 points, depending on where you're looking.
04:55They have this mess in the running back room. They're going to have Tyler Algier starting.
04:59They have James Conner still on IR. They still have, you know, Love.
05:02They're going to work him in. They've got a paid Jacoby reset.
05:05They've got to get Marv Harrison going. They have an all-star in training.
05:08There's so much going on with the Cardinals, and I don't know what direction they're going.
