00:00their crew, but for now
00:01we focus on the start of the race
00:0335 minutes plus a lap
00:06here for race 1
00:07of the weekend
00:08and Carl Stout going to try and keep up
00:11his winning that he has had
00:13so much this season, it was briefly
00:16interrupted at race 1
00:17at Coda, now can he
00:19pick things back up and start
00:21another streak here this weekend
00:24green flag is out
00:25and Carl gets a pretty good jump
00:27over Matt Siegel, but look at Jens Hansen
00:29already looking up the inside
00:32can he actually take this second
00:33place away, they're going to go wheel to wheel
00:35for that P2, but it's not over
00:38yet Joey out of turn 2
00:39Jens got a terrific start, but now Siegel's
00:42got the inside line going into
00:43NASCAR bend, turn number 3
00:45is E-Riley sliding into what is 4th place
00:48and the very, very busy
00:49GT3 Cup car field
00:51finds its way through the rest
00:53oh, maybe a little bit of fender to fender
00:55contact right there between 2nd and 3rd
00:58as Siegel finally gets into 2nd
01:00we've got another car up and over
01:02onto its lid out of turn number 4
01:04unfortunately that was Chris Hutter with a
01:07massive accident
01:08we'll hold still to wait to hear how that goes
01:12obviously full course
01:13yellow comes out immediately
01:16as Carl Stout will slow the field down
01:19Elaine Scalzo looks like he remains as our leader
01:22in the Masters class
01:23and just to confirm
01:25that is the 281 of Chris Hutter there
01:28from Race Control
01:29who wound up with those issues
01:32Bob, that's always scary to see this happen
01:35on these tracks
01:36thankfully it seems these cars just keep getting safer
01:39yeah, yeah, I can speak to that
01:41these cars have developed into a really, really safe platform
01:45they've integrated all the latest metallurgy and engineering into these cars
01:51and I can say that from when I raced till now
01:54it's double the safety
01:55double the safety just in the rigidity of the chassis
01:58and the improvements that Porsche has made over the years
02:02obviously it's a big focus of Porsche
02:04they've continued to iterate this 911 Cup car
02:08time and time again, Joey
02:10and it's been continually improving over many, many years
02:15so they've had a lot of chances to try and
02:17not just make it quicker
02:18but make sure that drivers can get home
02:21but we'll just have to wait and sit tight now
02:24until we get word on how Chris is
02:26Carl obviously managing to come away
02:29and Siegel importantly managing to keep Hanson behind him
02:32and something we didn't cover going into this
02:36or maybe you kind of briefly mentioned it, Joe
02:38but the rows were maybe a little bit mixed up
02:41based off of what qualifying was
02:43now our inside row was Group A in qualifying
02:46and they physically got to put lap times down
02:48but the outside row, they were based off of championship points
02:52so I wouldn't doubt it that maybe some of the cars
02:56slightly out of position in terms of the middle of the field pack
02:59and it could have led to some of those accordion effects and contact
03:03yeah, we had an interrupted session
03:05so obviously that did mix it up
03:08I had said that, you know, I had alluded that it was mixed up
03:11but we didn't quite explain why, obviously
03:13and it's started things off a little bit wilder
03:17than maybe we would have anticipated
03:19but I'm sure we'll have plenty of time
03:22to try and get things back rolling again
03:26the wind, look at the wind that we've got here
03:29we haven't seen that sort of wind all weekend long
03:33and that's a strong tailwind
03:35pushing the cars down into turn number one
03:38now obviously under yellow flag, not an issue
03:40but just means more top speed going into that brake zone
03:43and Bob, what does it feel like
03:45when you have those strong tailwinds on these cars
03:48especially at the end of such a straight
03:50like the front stretch
03:52do you notice that?
03:53does the rear actually feel a little bit lighter?
03:55I think, you know, the wind does affect the cars
03:58as the cars get more and more air advancements
04:01then the wind does affect it
04:03wind off other cars
04:04air flow off of other cars
04:06certainly affects the cars
04:07and I think the biggest thing with the tailwind especially
04:10is just not necessarily going to feel the rear end get lighter
04:13however, the top speed
04:15might be one, two, three mile an hour
04:17a little bit faster
04:18and I think it's going to be one, three mile an hour
04:18and I think it's going to be one, three mile an hour
04:18Obrigado.
