00:00Close as possível.
00:01Mitchell was in a little bit of a hiccup
00:03at the start of the lap
00:04because he was 3 quarters of a second clear
00:07of Bernier coming through the start finish line
00:09after setting a lap time
00:10that was 2 tenths better
00:12than Bernier's lap time last time around
00:14so clearly something's happened
00:15because that is not 3 quarters of a second
00:17separating them anymore.
00:20Bernier not close enough
00:21to have an attempt at it this time round
00:23and now able to use all the parts of the...
00:26Oh, it's a big old off, that's a huge off.
00:28It's Louie, it's Mike Looley.
00:31Mike Looley with a big crash in the background as well.
00:33There's damage, is it Waltersdorf on the right-hand side?
00:36So Waltersdorf and Looley, I'm pretty sure that's going to...
00:39Well, it's definitely going to be a full course yellow
00:40but it might be a red flag.
00:42So that's a big crash.
00:45Looley and Waltersdorf, we think the...
00:48Well, Looley definitely.
00:49Waltersdorf in the background, we're pretty sure
00:51with the white and blue.
00:53Oh, what a shame.
00:54And the MCY is out.
00:55Yeah, full course yellow.
00:56So the safety car goes out
00:58and everybody will have to follow in a train
00:59while we get this cleared up.
01:01We'll figure out what happened
01:02and see if we've got a replay of it for you shortly.
01:04We'll check the drivers are okay first.
01:07Mitchell Green will be grateful to see the safety car out
01:09because it's taking time off the clock
01:11but he won't be grateful to see how much closer
01:14Jan Bernier is in his rear-view camera at this point.
01:17Gary Ott will also be grateful for an opportunity
01:20to take a couple of deep breaths,
01:22gather his thoughts, put everything back in order,
01:25brings Roy Carroll back into the fight as well.
01:28And then Jared Bilicek, who was training decent lap times,
01:31said his personal best the last time around, actually.
01:34He'll be right back in this fight now, too.
01:37And you can see on the left-hand side of your screen
01:40the two cars, the two yellow cars at the bottom
01:42indicating they're in Cobbershell.
01:44That is Waltersdorf and Looley.
01:45So that is confirmation that it definitely was Waltersdorf,
01:47as we said.
01:48and dropping down through.
01:53Well, there we go.
01:54So we'll be behind this, I reckon, for a good couple of laps.
01:57If they think it's going to take longer to clear up,
02:00then they might red flag it and take them off into Pit Road.
02:03But in the meantime, as you say, a little bit of a breather.
02:06It's a decent battle between them.
02:07And Gary Ott was kind of with them
02:09and then dropped back a half second or so.
02:12Gabe Harib and Jeff Nunberg will be right together again.
02:16And Jeffrey Nunberg has been doing a very interesting move
02:19as we were talking about going into turn number one.
02:21Both of those cars plus seven spots.
02:23Up seven places, yeah.
02:24That's an incredible effort at the beginning.
02:26But as far as Jeff Nunberg is concerned,
02:29going into turn one,
02:31it seems to be his preferred passing opportunity.
02:35And then he does park them at the Apex.
02:37But he's perfected that art of parking them at the Apex.
02:41We're now hearing that the safety car
02:44will come down onto the pit lane,
02:45bringing the cars that way.
02:4720 and a half minutes to go.
02:49And this is a time-certain race.
02:51So hopefully we are able to get back to green flag racing
02:54as we will recover those two struck cars.
02:58Yeah, it's sounding like it's likely
02:59they're going to bring them all into Pit Road.
03:01So I was just talking about race control.
03:03You may have said that yourself.
03:04So it's, yeah, there we go.
03:07Oh, dear.
03:09And we were expecting carnage in the wet.
03:13The trouble is,
03:14and as it so frequently occurs in series
03:17where you run multiple races on a weekend,
03:19the second race tends to be a little bit more chaotic
03:22than the first
03:22because the drivers have that in the back of their mind.
03:25I need to keep the car good for tomorrow.
03:26Ready for the day, too.
03:27And then today the caution goes out.
03:29The wind, funny enough,
03:30I was talking to Nina Jade last night.
03:31The first three race weekends,
03:34I'd said day one was meh,
03:35and then day two is, yeah, really great racing.
03:39And that's what we've had so far this year.
03:41Indianapolis, it was really good both days
03:42and just a lack of incident.
03:45But, yeah, say today.
03:46Our number one concern is that the drivers are okay.
03:48None of the rest of it matters.
03:49This is just racing cars.
03:51And as enthusiastic and serious as everybody is about it,
03:55everybody also knows
03:56that there's nothing matters more than the people.
03:58No, it's the carbon-based life form behind the wheel
04:00that's the most important part of these vehicles
04:03out on the track.
04:04And that's ultimately it.
04:05We're here because we're all humans.
04:07We all love common cars.
04:08Cars, yeah, racing.
04:10Cars, motorsport.
04:11And Ferraris.
04:12Definitely, definitely.
04:15I just need a teacher that just says I like cars.
04:18Like, you know, that's pretty much okay.
04:20So we're hearing Mike Luley is out of the car.
04:22So that's good news, first of all.
04:23Good.
04:24Red flag has now been thrown.
04:27Okay, so the clock has stopped.
04:29That means we'll have 19 minutes, 14 remaining
04:31when we get the cars back out on circuit.
04:34But that will be after the recovery of these vehicles
04:37and the cleanup, which might take some time.
04:39We will see.
04:40I'm very curious, when we do go back to racing,
04:45how Jeff Nunberg attempts the pass on Gabe Harreep.
04:49Because knowing Jeff Nunberg,
04:51he's not just going to sit back and be happy for the two.
04:53Looks like turn one, doesn't it?
04:54To be honest, it's where it looks like you'll have a go.
04:57Turn one, parking him at the apex,
04:58perhaps if he's able to get around.
04:59But I'm wondering if maybe Jeffrey knows
05:02that his secret is out.
05:04We know what he does.
05:05Will he get creative and try it somewhere different?
05:07Is Gabe Harreep particularly good at blocking?
05:10Attempted passes at turn one.
05:12I think the other thing is, as well,
05:13is have the spotters for the various teams
05:15seen where he's made the passes.
05:16So, you know, they're often looking at their own drive
05:18and focusing on their own data, their own onboards.
05:21And if they've been watching the feed,
05:23then Walter Storff, thumbs up from Walter Storff.
05:25That's the best news.
05:26So both of the drivers involved in the incident are okay.
05:28So that's good stuff.
05:31I'm sure they'll be taken off to the medical centre for checks.
05:33And at some point, as the drivers are okay,
05:35we might be able to take a look back at the incident.
05:37Yes, we are.
05:38So let's have a look back at what happened now,
05:41which has caused this red flag.
05:43So up over the crest,
05:43you can see Walter Storff and Lily just side-by-side contact.
05:46Oh, wow.
05:46Okay, that was pretty quick.
05:48So nobody's gone that hard in.
05:50And if you're new to motorsport,
05:52that may sound crazy to you.
05:53Some good avoidance over on the left-hand side.
05:55Side-by-side contact.
05:57There's a lot of inertia in wheels and tyres.
05:59And if you get the contact rubber on rubber,
06:00the cars get launched.
06:01And on this occasion, they went left.
06:03And Walter Storff got squeezed fully on the wall
06:06with Lily at the same time.
