Satya Niketan Building Collapse: Gupta Family Arrested After 7 Deaths

A five-storey building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan, near Delhi University’s South Campus, collapsed on September 6, leaving at least seven people dead. Rescue teams have so far managed to save 12 people from the site. The collapse reportedly took place while repair work was underway in the basement.

Delhi Police has now arrested Hariram Gupta, his wife Urmila Gupta and their son Mahesh Gupta in connection with the case. Hariram Gupta and Urmila Gupta have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody, while their son Mahesh Gupta has been sent to two days of police custody. Police said the electricity connection of the building was in Hariram Gupta’s name, while Mahesh Gupta was overseeing the property. The property was registered in Urmila Gupta’s name.

The case has also raised questions about accountability. The Delhi government has suspended five MCD officials following the collapse. Police are also searching for the PG operators and labour contractors associated with the building as the investigation continues.

Satya Niketan Building Collapse: 7 मौतों के बाद Gupta Family गिरफ्तार

Delhi University के South Campus के पास Satya Niketan में 6 सितंबर को एक पांच मंजिला इमारत गिर गई, जिसमें अब तक कम से कम सात लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। Rescue Teams ने घटनास्थल से अब तक 12 लोगों को बचाया है। बताया जा रहा है कि हादसे के समय इमारत के Basement में Repair Work चल रहा था।

Delhi Police ने अब इस मामले में Hariram Gupta, उनकी पत्नी Urmila Gupta और उनके बेटे Mahesh Gupta को गिरफ्तार किया है। Hariram Gupta और Urmila Gupta को 14 दिनों की Judicial Custody में भेजा गया है, जबकि उनके बेटे Mahesh Gupta को दो दिनों की Police Custody मिली है। Police के मुताबिक, इमारत का Electricity Connection Hariram Gupta के नाम पर था और Mahesh Gupta इसकी देखरेख कर रहा था। वहीं, Property Urmila Gupta के नाम पर Registered थी।

हादसे के बाद Accountability को लेकर भी सवाल उठ रहे हैं। Delhi Government ने MCD के पांच अधिकारियों को Suspend कर दिया है। इसके अलावा Police इमारत से जुड़े PG Operators और Labour Contractors की भी तलाश कर रही है। मामले की जांच आगे बढ़ने के साथ जिम्मेदारी को लेकर कई सवाल सामने आ रहे हैं।
