Melbourne hosts world record for cheerleading

Australians love sport, but cheerleading at sports events isn't as big here as it is in the united states. That may be about to change. Hundreds of young dancers, with their mums and dads, have attempted to put Melbourne on the cheerleading map with a world record attempt.

00:06No one brings it quite like the professionals.

00:13In the lead up to the first ever regular season NFL game on Australian soil,

00:18the San Francisco 49ers cheerleaders, the Gold Rush,

00:21work with local choreographers for a routine for the record books.

00:26We were dancing before we were talking.

00:27It's the oldest form of communication, moving and moving together.

00:32And plenty of dance moms and dads

00:34decided to spend Father's Day with their kids doing this.
