"Preußenlied," known as "Ich bin ein Preuße, kennt ihr meine Farben?," was the Kingdom of Prussia's national anthem from 1830 - 1840. The lyricist is Bernard Thiersch (1793–1855). The composer is August Neithardt (1793–1861).

Context: A Prussian singer asks the listener to guess the flag colors. The singer's forefathers died to the black and white flag. He would never tremble any day whether it is rainy or sunny. He proudly proclaims to be Prussian. With affection, he is loyal to his fatherland and to Friedrich the Great. He holds a serious look in his face and nobody knows all his wishes did not come true. During dark times, his Prussian spirit stays strong. The nation prospers if the king and people give each other their hand. They swear loyalty to their king. From the East and North Sea shores stands confident Prussians. They look forward to the future ever since the First Battle of Düppel. The Prussian star shines brightly. The Prussian sword expands Prussia. The Prussians protect their king.
