00:05And that's really how we sum it up here at the Wankere in that first ODI between India and Australia.

00:14It's the best partnership that we've seen from them against the men in blue.
00:18A 74 for Shikha Dhawan but 256 is what was set for Australia and they made it look rather comprehensive
00:24in chasing it down.

00:32Two who've combined well against opposite teams in the past when India and Australia have faced each other.
00:37But a heavy defeat for Team India.
00:39You haven't seen one of this nature in 15 years where they lost by 10 wickets.
00:44What was the biggest reason for this defeat?
00:45I think below par batting performance.
00:48Especially when Shikha Dhawan and KL Rahul had that brilliant 130 run partnership.
00:53And suddenly India lost four wickets for just 30 runs in six overs.
00:58First the two set batsmen got out and then the big wicket of Virat Kohli followed by a brilliant set
01:04up by Mitchell Stark to get the wicket of Shreyas there.
01:07And once four wickets falls in a cluster I think the team batting first will be always chasing the game.
01:13Especially against a quality bowling attack of Australia.
01:15So I just feel that the game plan of the Australian bowlers were perfect.
01:19They put a lot of pressure on the Indian batsmen and credit to the captaincy.
01:23I thought Aaron Fringe was brilliant with his bowling changes and the field placements.
01:27I mean 270 plus is what you expect to see.
01:29That's a par total here at the Wankaree batting first.
01:32So India just setting that 256.
01:34Look that mini battle between Adam Zampa and Virat Kohli resumed with Zampa again dismissing Virat Kohli for the fourth
01:40time.
01:40But the real conversation when it comes to four was Virat Kohli batting at number four.
01:45Is this something that you see continuing here Doss?
01:48Yeah no I don't like it at all.
01:49I think Virat Kohli the best player in the world should be batting at number three where he's played the
01:54majority of his cricket.
01:55And got the most number of runs as well for Team India.
01:58So no I don't like that.
02:00I think today though Adam Zampa had that kind of day where he was around about that sort of five,
02:07four and a half runs and over.
02:09Virat Kohli looked like he was almost overly positive and he got in very late in the innings as well.
02:15So that does tend to put pressure on someone like Virat and he's just got his measure at the moment.
02:19The fourth time as you mentioned you know getting him out in different types of ways as well.
02:25Today a very good caught and bowled.
02:26This one here that was a very good catch came flying back at him.
02:31Challenging conditions I think for Team Australia to bowl on first up.
02:36But a good decision I thought two bowl first. A courageous decision right from the toss.
02:41Coming back to Virat batting at four. Now what does this do for the team? What does this do for
02:45him individually as a batsman?
02:47Well I just feel as a captain as a leader yeah you want to play your best batsman especially the
02:51kind of form KL Raul has shown over the last three months.
02:55Shikhar Dhawan experienced a one day batsman over the last five years.
02:59He scored a lot of runs won matches for Team India and that's probably the reason why Virat Kohli wanted
03:04KL Raul Shikhar to play in the leaven.
03:07But I just feel just like what Ados mentioned the best batsman in the team should be batting higher up
03:12in the batting line-up.
03:14And he scored so many runs. More importantly he sets the match and finishes the innings for Team India.
03:19Unfortunately today was not the case. He came in to bat in the 28th over.
03:25That's not the right strategy for Virat Kohli. I don't see this working in the future.
03:31And in Rajkot I expect Virat to bat at number three and probably KL Raul bat at number four. He
03:35has done that in the past.
03:36Well one of the things we knew before this series was that David Warren and Aaron Finch already had an
03:41average against India that was almost 80.
03:43And how much you must enjoy this Ados. Watching a pair like this being so prolific as the highest partnerships
03:49versus India.
03:50They're the ones who've done it. You just must have enjoyed the way they went about their business today.
03:55Not at all.
03:58No look it was fantastic. Right from the start India just allowed enough bad balls you know to be able
04:04to get both of them
04:05into positions where they're comfortable. When they're comfortable and confident they're both really damaging.
04:11And this is what you're seeing now. The onslaught.
04:13One thing in particular about Aaron Finch. He looks very calm at the crease.
04:17He's not got plenty of time to play. He's almost effortless the way he's using his hands.
04:23And of course we're used to seeing Davey Warner aren't we?
04:26You know bludgeoning the attack. And that's exactly what he did you know tonight.
04:29So outstanding partnership. I mean I just love watching these guys bat any time.
04:36I think if you've got the television on and you've got Davey Warner on screen it's grab the popcorn and
04:42look out.
04:43You know you're really entertained by you know a very high quality player.
04:48A player that also wears his heart on his sleeve as well.
04:52And he's got that real go forward in his nature which is you know thoroughly enjoying it.
04:56It's a bit like watching Virat Kohli. You just want to turn up and watch.
04:59I mean it's massive for Australia in terms of the confidence to go one up in a series in India.
05:04In these sort of conditions in Rajkot. So how does Team India look to bounce back?
05:08I think by playing the right 11. You know because in Rajkot if it's a turning track I would like
05:14to see Kuldeep and Chahal playing.
05:16Because against this formidable batting line-up you saw Finch is in good form.
05:20You got Warner in good form. You got Steve Smith.
05:22Marnas has been excellent in test match cricket. So there's a depth in this batting line-up.
05:26So you have to have wicket-taking bowlers. Especially if you've decided that you're going to play only with five
05:31bowlers.
05:32You know you have to have and pick the best five bowlers.
05:34And that's the way India can bounce back.
05:36Virat Kohli batting at three.
05:38One of the set batsmen finishing off the innings.
05:40Getting a hundred which probably Kail, Raul and Shikhar Dhawan could have done.
05:44And I think it's the positive mindset which is required if they have to bounce back.
05:47We've seen that in the past this Indian team is this mentally tough Indian team.
05:52And I'm sure that they will show that character and bounce back strongly in Rajkot and level the series.
