00:37And let me just put this into perspective for you. When Shimron Hutmeier and Shea Hope bat together against India,

00:45Against all the other teams, they average about 29 together. So there is something special about them playing against this
00:51unit.
00:52Maybe it's the way they handle the spin as well.
00:54Definitely. Shimron Hutmeier comes from Guyana, a country that is noted for producing batting surfaces and good spinners as well.
01:03So he's very adept playing deep in his crease and forward. Shea Hope's ability against spin has improved.
01:08So the other thing is they run well between the wickets most times. They've had the odd run out, but
01:13they're very quick athletic guys.
01:15So there's a chemistry there that is wonderful to see.
01:18And they managed to keep it together very contrasting in their sense and their approach, but they got their team
01:23across the line with individual hundreds.
01:25But that brings into question, maybe in terms of India's bowling combination, were you missing an outright bowler?
01:32Yeah, 100%. Because you can't go with Shivam Dube and Kedar Jadav as your fifth bowler, especially against a batting
01:41line-up like this, who's got the firepower, who's got the ability to hit those big sixes.
01:46Kedar Jadav can bowl four or five overs against Sri Lanka, probably against a weaker team, but not against players
01:52like Pollard, Hittmeier, Nicholas Puran.
01:54Any loose delivery, it's going out of the park. It's not going to be like, it's going to go for
01:58ones and twos, it's going to go out of the park.
02:00So you're always under constant pressure. Fifth bowler, Shivam Dube and Kedar Jadav, probably a lot of trouble for India.
02:07So they've got to get another spinner or a fast bowler depending on the surface.
02:11Who would you have played today?
02:13Chehal. 100%. Because I feel you need another wicket-taking option.
02:17The only way you can contain this kind of a batting line-up is to send them back in the
02:20dressing room.
02:21Till the time they're in the middle, you're always under constant pressure.
02:25It's not you're playing against a weaker opposition who can't hit those big sixes.
02:28People like Shimrun Hittmeier, people like Nicholas Puran, like Kyran Pollard.
02:32Till the time they're in the middle, they're going to keep hitting those big sixes.
02:35So you've got to have those wicket-taking options with Kuldeep and Chehal.
02:39You have that. They might end up going for runs, but there's always an opportunity for a wicket somewhere in
02:43the middle.
02:44We always discuss, Bish, just how that chase was going to go for the West Indies because there was a
02:48280-plus total that was set.
02:49That was primarily because of the partnership between Rishabh Prant and Shreyas Aya.
02:53Now, they showed a lot of tenacity and temperament.
02:56Oh, great, great temperament. Just the way they remained calm out there.
03:01They looked unbothered and allowed, I think Shreyas allowed Rishabh to settle in.
03:06And then Rishabh, he didn't get flustered very early.
03:09He played very calmly and then he started expanding his range of shots.
03:13So as much as I would agree there's disappointment, neither of them went on to get 100.
03:18I think for Rishabh Prant in particular, it's another building block in his career.
03:23I'm from the outside, so I'm a little bit more patient with him than most.
03:27But I saw calmness there tonight that if he builds on it and is hungry enough, I think he's on
03:31the way to continue his learning curve.
03:34We'll get a chance to see some of that hunger on the 18th for the second ODI which will be
03:38in Vishaka, Patnam.

04:19No, I wouldn't imagine that as well.
04:21But the one guy that I'm keeping my eye on is Jason Holder.
04:24His bowling form during the T20s was expensive and again today wicketless.
04:30So I think he needs to start getting back into that wickets column.
04:35He applies batting to the lower order as well.
04:37But as a bowler, he needs to stand up a little bit more.
