00:00Rutgers at 6 o'clock? Sure, I'll throw that on.
00:02They're playing UMass. They'll win 63-0.
00:04Yeah, they had a 29 point. What was it? 29 and a half?
00:06Yeah, a point favorite.
00:08And the moment that game started, you just knew.
00:12And it had the feel.
00:13And I don't know when it hit anybody watching
00:15or if you started to keep track of this on social media and said,
00:18wait a minute, how do I find the Big Ten network?
00:20Do I go over and listen on WFAN?
00:22But it kept building and building and building.
00:25And before you knew it, with about nine minutes left in the third quarter,
00:29it was so beyond evident there was never a comeback happening.
00:31Even as Rutgers teased late in the fourth quarter,
00:34I mean, the final score of this game ends up being 37-21.
00:38It was never that close.
00:40And Tiki, let me just say this.
00:42I know Rutgers is getting beat up today.
00:43They should be.
00:44They should be getting beat up.
00:45They should be.
00:46They paid to have this team come in and beat them.
00:49They haven't won in 16 games, 16 straight.
00:52They had lost.
00:53And look, anything can happen in college football these days.
00:55We have to acknowledge this because teams turn over.
00:59So much on FN, it doesn't matter if you're the LSUs of the world,
01:04because they're obviously in the news right now, or you're UMass.
01:08Teams are going to try to reconstruct and build some kind of winner,
01:11bring kids in.
01:12There's obviously no massive NILs at UMass, but there are good players.
01:18Yeah.
01:18There are good players everywhere.
01:19And especially if you, as a team, as a staff, take a team like UMass for granted,
01:27this is what happens in football.
01:29You'll get your ass kicked by someone who you had no fear of.
01:33And there is no excuse for this for Rutgers.
01:36No, there's no excuse.
01:37And, Tiki, I don't know about you.
01:38Listen, you obviously played college football, so it's a little different than me just sitting
01:42there drinking my beers and gambling on it.
01:44But whenever I think about massive upsets, especially early in season in college football,
01:49I always think about that famous Appalachian State-Michigan game, which is probably over
01:53a decade now.
01:54I mean, if I had to think back.
01:55Dude, that might be more than that.
01:56Yeah.
01:56I mean, so it ends up, you know, as every year passes by, getting further and further
01:59away.
02:00And Michigan was laughed at.
02:02And obviously, it was a different era than Harbaugh ends up coming over, taking or whatever.
02:07Dude, that was in 2007.
02:092007.
02:10Wow.
02:10It's that long ago.
02:12It's almost 20 years, man.
02:13That's crazy.
02:14But that's the one that stands out.
02:15And let me just say this.
02:16For as embarrassing as that was, to me, I don't care that Rutgers wasn't ranked.
02:23This is worse.
02:25I could make the case this is the most embarrassing season-opening loss by a Power 5 program we have
02:33seen in our lifetime.
02:34And hear me out.
02:34Like you just alluded to, UMass as a program didn't win a single game last year.
02:42Basically, almost two years they didn't win a game.
02:45Didn't win a game.
02:46Rutgers, at home, standalone, to start the college football season.
02:51You didn't hide yourself at noon on a Saturday.
02:55This is 6 o'clock Thursday.
02:57People just throwing it on because there's nothing else on.
03:00And Greg Sciano, who is supposed to be the prodigal son of Rutgers football.
03:07Pandemonium and Piscataway might as well be 50 years ago now for Greg Sciano.
03:12To be a coach that preaches how much he wants to basically build a fence around New Jersey
03:18and keep the talent here.
03:19If you are a high school kid in New Jersey and you wake up today, why the hell would you
03:26want to play for Greg Sciano and Rutgers?
03:2927 and a half point favorites.
03:31And if I'm Greg Sciano too, I'm further embarrassed.
03:34I know it's a little thing.
03:35And I know that, you know, to go to a game, you got to sell people on things.
03:38Guys, that fireworks show after the game is incredibly embarrassing.
03:42What do you mean?
03:43Was it bad?
03:43I didn't see it.
03:44No, it's a great fireworks show.
03:45There's 23 people left in the stands and they were the UMass family.
03:50You have to pull a ripcord.
03:51You can't be shooting off fireworks when you get upset by a team who didn't win a football
03:56game last year.
