00:02The U.S. Mint's new gold finished Trump dollar coins went on sale midday Wednesday and barely
00:07made it through the afternoon. Within hours, the 25 coin rolls were out of stock, with the
00:12Mint saying more were being made. The 100 coin bags were listed as unavailable. The coins were
00:18created to mark America's 250th anniversary. President Trump appears on one side, along with
00:24Liberty in God We Trust, and the years 1776 to 2026. The other side features the Great
00:31Seal of the United States. And some buyers could get a surprise. The Mint randomly mixed
00:37in special issue coins marked July 4th, showing they were struck on Independence Day. But Trump's
00:44portrait has also raised questions about federal rules governing who can appear on U.S. coins.
00:49Federal law generally restricts living presidents from appearing on U.S. currency. But the law
00:55authorizing these anniversary coins specifically bars portraits on the reverse side. Trump appears
01:01on the front, which appears to keep the design within the law.
