00:00Cakes, congrats on cashing.
00:02America's long national nightmare is over.
00:04All of you can rest easy tonight knowing.
00:07It finally happened.
00:08Yes.
00:09I saw on his Twitter.
00:10Are you rich?
00:11No, I'm not rich, but I'm richer than I was yesterday.
00:14How much?
00:16$841 for sixth place.
00:17I'll take that.
00:18Nice.
00:18But I saw on his Twitter that he had just posted like two hours ago when I got out.
00:23It was probably three hours.
00:23I was like, oh my God, I'm dead.
00:25I had a late dinner, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
00:28Cakes got like less than two hours probably of sleep.
00:30Went to bed at 220.
00:32Jeez.
00:32Alarm set for, I guess, right around five o'clock.
00:37So two and a half.
00:38But yeah, still it's awful.
00:39It's awful.
00:40Did you sleep on a pillow of cash?
00:42I did not.
00:43I slept on a normal MGM National Harbor bed.
00:46I like that.
00:47I like that room.
00:48They got great rooms over there.
00:49Rooms are nice, especially when you turn the AC down to 66 degrees.
00:54I don't know how you did that.
00:55And even with the room literally being a crypt, like mausoleums are warmer.
01:01I only slept with a sheet despite all of the wind circulating in the room.
01:07Yeah.
01:08It was glorious.
01:09Those two hours of sleep I got were fantastic.
01:11Man, you're going to hit it hard tonight or today.
01:14Nap incoming.
01:16But luckily, late in the show today, we are going to commit to the Ice Bucket Challenge.
01:23We're doing that later.
01:24So if I'm about to hit a wall.
01:26So that'll wake you up.
01:26I think we're doing that in the nine o'clock hour.
01:28That'll be a nice burst to kind of just reboot my system.
01:32Yeah, but I think you're still going to be very tired.
01:33There's going to be nothing nice about it.
01:34It's going to be hell.
01:35I'll be honest.
01:35I had totally forgotten about it because in my haze, I was in the kitchen getting the coffee prepared.
01:40And Roger, the engineer, is, of course, filling up the main coffee bat in the kitchen.
01:46And he looks at me and goes, yeah, the cooler, the water today.
01:51And I was like, what?
01:53What are you talking about?
01:54I thought he was talking about something in the kitchen, like one of the water machines is broken.
01:58He goes, you know, the ice, you know, the ice bucket.
02:01And I was like, oh.
02:03Then it snapped into my brain that we're actually doing it.
02:07Do you have a change of clothes?
02:08Or is somebody going to loan you some T-shirts or something?
02:11I have extra clothes in my locker.
02:12Okay, so you're always prepared.
02:13I'm always ready for any sort of water.
02:16Well, it's going to be hot, so maybe it'll actually feel good.
02:18It probably will feel good.
02:20I don't think it's going to feel good.
02:22Hey, I'm trying to think positive here.
02:24I mean, I totally am going to be grumpy all day about it.
02:27We settle on who we are passing the ice bucket challenge to.
02:30I think we should save it, announce it right before each pick one person.
02:34Okay, so we're going to challenge four people.
02:36I think so.
02:36Each challenge one.
02:38All right.
02:39I'll tell you during the break, I'd like to claim one guy, but you guys decide.
02:42I'll have to rack my brain.
02:44I literally can't think of one person at this point.
02:47But I'll figure it out.
02:47Don't worry, it's not a big deal.
02:48The chances of them doing it probably are four percent.
02:51Well, you want to pick someone that I think that would respect the challenge.
02:54Well, I'm going to pick a guy.
02:55I don't know if he's going to respect it, but I like him.
02:58Did you guys enjoy our tour of Capital One Arena yesterday?
03:01Oh, yeah.
03:01Tell me about it.
03:02I was thoroughly impressed.
03:03It was amazing, I thought.
03:05It's crazy.
03:05I had to wear hard hats.
03:07Some people in the comments on all the social media are like, why are they wearing hard
03:12hats?
03:12Because it's an active construction zone.
03:14They wouldn't allow us to walk through it.
03:16You're not being serious, are you?
03:17People actually were saying that.
03:18Don't even acknowledge those people.
03:20I didn't acknowledge it.
03:21I just saw it.
03:21Oh, we did it because we thought it was a great look.
03:23We thought it would be a great look.
03:25Because we should be wearing hard hats.
03:26Or we thought we wanted people to think that we were hammering things.
03:30Yeah, right.
03:30My God.
03:31We did it because they made us do it.
03:33Of course.
03:34That's why we did it.
03:35If you want to take the tour, you've got to wear a hard hat.
03:37Of course.
03:38Who would question that?
03:39If a cinder block falls on Mike Marr's head and kills him, if he's wearing a hard hat,
03:44at least they've taken care of what they need to liability-wise.
03:47Gives you the idea that you're in a construction zone.
03:50Yeah, exactly.
03:51It can be a dangerous place.
03:53What homicidal maniac wouldn't understand that?
03:56Look, it was one random one-off, but it tilted me.
04:01Also.
04:02Everything's going to tilt me today.
04:03I can tell.
04:04Please miss us with the...
04:06You guys are only catering to the elite at Capital One Arena.
04:10What about the seats for the common man?
04:13Blah, blah, blah.
04:14Please miss us with all of that.
04:15Yeah.
04:15Okay.
04:16Miss us with that all the time.
04:18First of all, we've got tours of everything.
04:19I'm not here for it.
04:20We've got tours of everything.
04:21Yeah.
04:21I personally do like the elite stuff.
04:23That's what I'm looking for.
04:24Personally, me, Eric Bickle.
04:25Well, that's what I care about.
04:26I like it, too.
04:27And trust me, I've spent enough time in the common man seats over the years.
04:32I've spent plenty of time there.
04:34So if I'm going to get access to the silly seats, I'm going to gladly take it.
04:39But they're making upgrades everywhere.
04:41Right.
04:42From Jim Van Stone to Zach Leonsis to the guys who took us on a tour, they are hooking up
04:50VIP experiences for season ticket holders and suite ticket holders.
04:55But they're also catering to every person there.
04:58It seems to be a mission.
05:00They're changing every seat in the house.
05:03Every seat's being changed.
05:05Now, a lot of these things might not, you might not see them until a year from now because
05:09it was kind of a show going in there to see they're going to have this thing ready in
05:14a month or two.
05:15Jim Van Stone said when he sat down.
05:16Well, he said it was about 18 months away.
05:17He said this upcoming season, it's going to be the pardon our dust era.
05:21Yeah, right.
05:21Which makes sense.
05:22They're making massive renovations and changes to basically every corner of that arena.
05:28Yeah.
05:29Stuff you see, stuff you don't see.
05:31Well, I think especially a year from now, when they get all that LED stuff that they have
05:36planned, especially in the hallway for like half the year.
05:39I mean, it's going to blow people away.
05:41One last minute rant relative to that.
05:44Please miss me with, you should be in your seat at all times at Capital One Arena instead
05:50of watching a big giant video board.
05:52Shut up.
05:53What about the people who are just walking in that haven't gotten to their seats?
05:55Or you have to go to the bathroom.
05:57You got to go pee.
05:57Or you need to go get nachos.
05:58What do you want?
05:59A pretzel.
05:59I'd like to be able to see what's happening on the court or on the ice.
06:02There you go.
06:02You do whatever you want.
06:03My rants are over.
06:04You're very defensive today.
06:05Well, he's got two and a half hours to sleep.
06:07That's what it is.
06:07I know.
06:10I like this cake.
06:12I like this version.
06:13I like you this version.
06:14You like the pissed off cake?
06:15I'm just letting people know.
06:18That's all.
06:19I've got to look off my chest.
06:22So did you see the locker rooms?
06:24Yes.
06:24Oh, I bet you they're money.
06:26What was hilarious is that they pointed out that the NBA locker room, the guys' sinks
06:30are all raised because they're enormous guys.
06:33The knobs on the lockers.
06:35Trey Young's going to have to leap.
06:37Yeah.
06:38To open his locker room.
06:38Yeah, the 6'1", 6'2".
06:40The urinals are a little bit higher, too.
06:41I mean, everything's raised up.
06:42I didn't use it, but I looked at it, and I was like, I think I'd reach it standing flat
06:47-footed.
06:48Might have to go on my tippy-toes.
06:50Yeah.
06:50But they had some for the short knockers, too.
06:52They had the Trey Young 6'3".
06:55They had the Trey Young urinal.
06:56I remember Anthony Davis talking about when he first was traded here, when he talked about
07:00the locker rooms, and he was just so impressed.
07:02They're opulent.
07:02But they're very nice.
07:04Yeah.
07:04They're probably massive.
07:07Like, the locker room's probably really big.
07:09Yeah, both the Caps and the Wizards.
07:10How many TVs were in there?
07:11Well, a lot of that electronic stuff, I don't think it was hooked up yet because a lot of
07:15it's still under construction.
07:16But you see, or Mar posted a lot of videos.
07:19I know I've seen some videos before on social media, so you can find stuff where you can
07:23see.
07:24Go to the JFK, whatever, Twitter, whatever.
07:27Yeah.
07:28Yeah, you'll see it.
07:29Did you see the opposing team's locker rooms, the visitor locker rooms?
07:33No.
07:33No, it's in the Caps and the Wizards.
07:35Just the home.
07:36Just the home.
07:37The important teams.
07:38Yeah, I just wanted to see what the difference was.
07:39Their cold plunge areas.
07:40They're probably very similar.
07:41Their saunas.
07:43There were a lot of questions on why Jason Bishop didn't show up.
07:46I had, well, because one of my buddy's daughters works for Monumental.
07:52I actually got her the job at Lou.
07:55Tip of the cap.
07:57And I told him I was going to go say hi to her, and she was actually out getting coffee,
08:01and then she, so she was about 10 minutes out, so I just waited for her up in the offices.
08:07So that was fine.
08:08I wanted to say hi to her and get out of the city.
08:12I knew you guys would enjoy it.
08:13You can get the personal tour.
08:15I'll see it some other time.
08:15Yeah, next time you're down there.
08:16It's all good.
08:18I mean, yeah, I actually just wanted to see it, and I definitely wanted to get the tour,
08:22because it is kind of amazing how they can take, you know, an arena that's been there,
08:26what, 20 years now?
08:27However long it's been there.
08:2830 years.
08:28Yeah, probably longer than 20, I think.
08:30It's been there a long time, and that they can just kind of reset, redo, renovate the whole
08:35damn thing.
08:36Yeah.
08:37Now, there is a larger footprint, because they've taken over some space over there by Clyde's
08:41and where Lucky Strike is.
08:42Now, Clyde's still going to be there.
08:44But all that area, they're kind of changing the main entrance.
08:47Some of that you're not going to see this year, you'll see next year.
08:50But they increased their footprint dramatically, what they're able to do in season and, you
08:57know, inside the building.
08:59You can't tell outside yet.
09:00They're going to change the outside of the building.
09:02I think they're really excited about how the outside's going to look.
09:05Personally, I don't care about the outside, I just care about the inside, but they care
09:09about the outside.
09:09They want that outside to look great.
09:11We got to walk through the Caps hype tunnel before they hit the ice, where they like to
09:16slap each other on the butt with their sticks and a lot of horseplay pre-game.
09:21That was cool.
09:22And then we got to see, no, we weren't able to put it out there, but we got to see
09:25where
09:25we're Ted, where he hosts his guests for every night.
09:30So, you know, the ownership group, they have guests every night for every night.
09:34Music, whatever, Wizards, Mystics, and they have just, this is right up your alley, Jason,
09:39just basically their own restaurant, bar, just the whole thing.
09:44And they didn't want us to put it out there, but just a really, really nice spot.
09:47It reminded me for a second of a little bit bigger version of his heirloom inside Open
09:53Road, where it's a tucked away little restaurant spot.
09:57There's no big sign there that says, come on.
09:59So it's like a hang spot before they go up to their silly suite.
10:02Yeah, just a hidden spot for Ted and his guests and his wife and everyone.
10:07It was a good time.
10:08Thank you to Adam, to Patrick, to everybody who kind of took us around the entire arena.
10:13I'd forgotten their names, but thank you for remembering.
10:15I remember those two.
10:16Yeah, I don't remember their names.
10:17Adam was the one that was really...
10:19They're very nice.
10:19He was great.
10:20He definitely recognized the show because right away he said, hey, what's up, BB?
10:23So he's aware.
10:25Yeah.
10:25So it was really cool.
10:26That was Dylan's big boss this year.
10:29Ah, very good.
10:29I think Patrick might have been in the chain, too.
10:33Excellent.
10:33Was he the other younger-ish guy?
10:35He was, yeah.
10:36Yeah, he seemed like a really good dude.
10:38Yeah, good.
10:39It is an Open Line Thursday.
10:40You're welcome to call us throughout the show at 800-636-1067.
10:44Your guest lineup for today, Dave Richard, will join us.
10:47He is the CBS Sports Fantasy Football expert.
10:49I got a draft tonight, Cakesy.
10:51Well, I have one as well.
10:53I think it's at 7 p.m.
10:54Mine's at 7, yeah.
10:54So Dave can give you those last-minute tidbits to help you ace your draft.
10:58That's coming up at 8 o'clock.
11:00And we'll also be joined by Grant Paulson.
11:02GP.
11:03One of the hosts of Grant and Danny on 106.7 The Fan.
11:06He's going to be busy later tonight hosting an evening with Adam Peters.
11:10We'll get a preview of that with him coming up at 8.45 here on The Fan.
11:14Well, thank you so much for your time.
11:14Bye.
