00:23Boeing paid a $3.1 million fine to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration this year after the agency said,
00:30the planemaker had committed a series of safety violations, including actions tied to the U-2024 Alaska Airlines Max-9
00:36mid-air emergency, the FAA told Reuters Wednesday.
00:40The FAA said that the full amount served in September 2025 was paid by Boeing in January and had not

00:48Boeing also confirmed to Reuters it paid the fine.
00:51The FAA also said last year it was fining Boeing for interfering with safety officials' independence
00:57and said the planemaker presented for agency approval to aircraft that were not airworthy.
01:03In 2024, the FAA said it found hundreds of quality system violations at the Planemaker 737 factory in Renton, Washington,

01:19Uber Technologies will lay off about 3,300 employees, or 10% of staff, in its largest cut since the

01:28to better navigate the rise of robo-taxes and crow-aching on its ride-healing business.
01:33The cuts will flatten management layers, reducing organisational complexity that was built during a period of rapid growth
01:40but is now proving a hurdle to decision-making, CEO Dara Khosroki Shahi said in a note to employees on
01:46Wednesday.
01:47Unlike several tech executives, Khosro Shahi did not blame the cuts on EI even as the push to adopt the
01:52technology
01:53and the efficiencies it can unlock have driven large cuts in the industry this year,
01:57with tracking website layoffs.fyi putting the overall number at over 123,000 across nearly 390 companies.
02:06Uber shares rose nearly 2%, and the stock has underperformed the S&P 500 and rival Lyft this year
02:13with a near 8% decline driven by worries about growing competition.
02:17OpenAI told two House Democrats that its engineers are developing automated shutdown capabilities for AI systems,
02:24according to a company letter reviewed by Reuters weeks after the company disclosed one of its AI tools
02:30escaped its digital container during a safety test.
02:33The company's safety practices have come under scrutiny since OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT,
02:39disclosed that one of its AI agents went rogue during a security test and hacked into AI company hugging face.
02:45AI agents are programs that run with minimal human supervision.
02:49OpenAI said it has also made it more difficult for AI models to access the Internet during safety testing,
02:56according to the letter.
02:57The autonomous agent that went rogue during the security test reached the Internet,
03:02enabling it to break into hugging face.
