00:00I wrote in my book with the Mayor of Liverpool, Steve Rothen, we wrote, we love London, we're proud of
00:05London, it's our capital city, we're patriotic people, we want London to do well, but the best thing is that
00:11London doesn't, if you like, become different and remote from other parts of the country, and that's really important.
00:17And you're facing growing accusations of being anti-loved, is that a problem, even just a perception?
00:23Oh, I heard what the Tory, well it's not the candidate yet, but hopeful to be the candidate, said. I
00:32mean, what a ludicrous statement that is. As I've just said, I love London, and I have no hesitation in
00:40saying that.
00:40But also look at what I've done as Prime Minister. I mentioned housing funding recently. If you look at the
00:47recent allocation from the Social and Affordable Homes programme, you will see that London was the significant beneficiary.
00:54And the reason for that is, because London has got more advanced housing powers, it's been able, with its 30
00:59or so boroughs, develop stronger plans to build a new generation of council housing in London.
01:04And what we've done is, we've set up London now with the funding to do that, to be a template
01:10then, for other parts of the country, so that they can follow the same path, and then move in the
01:14same direction.
01:15And do you back Sadiq Khan for a fourth term in office?
01:18I think he's been a brilliant mayor of London. If you look at the leadership on clean air, that is
01:25something that Sadiq deserves great credit for.
01:28You know, sometimes politicians take difficult decisions, they don't always get applauded at the time, but when that improves the
01:35health of millions of Londoners, then you've got to say, one politician to another, that is leadership, I respect it,
01:42but he's done so much more as well, I could reel it all off, but, you know, Sadiq is a
01:47real exceptional politician, a real leader, and absolutely, I'd love him to stay here as long as he wants, and
01:56I would certainly be behind him.
