🧠🧑⚕️Doctors can now take an MRI off the screen and manipulate it as if it were a physical object. 🤯
Everyone in the room appears to be looking at a brain floating in mid-air. But this isn’t science fiction—it’s an immersive 3D visualization system that reconstructs real MRI data as a three-dimensional model viewed through dedicated stereoscopic glasses.
Instead of scrolling through hundreds of black-and-white MRI slices, doctors can see the brain as a complete volume, rotate it, manipulate it and examine it from different angles in real time.
The illusion of depth is created through stereoscopic imaging and head tracking. Each eye receives a slightly different image, allowing the brain to perceive the reconstruction as a three-dimensional object.
Unlike conventional virtual reality, the system can work with lightweight stereoscopic glasses rather than a bulky VR headset.
3D MRI reconstruction has existed for years, but advances in immersive medical visualization are making these models increasingly detailed, fluid and interactive.
Different colors can also help distinguish anatomical structures, potentially giving medical professionals a more intuitive understanding of complex anatomy when planning procedures.
Hundreds of 2D medical images transformed into a 3D brain you can almost reach out and touch. 🤯🧠🧑⚕️
