00:00scams that tourists need to look out for when they come visit
00:03Rome. The first thing you need to watch out for when you are
00:05here are pickpockets and there are a lot of pickpockets here
00:09in Rome. You do need to be careful that wallet in the front
00:12pocket, the money belt, the cross bag. These are all things
00:15you need to be thinking about using when you are here because
00:18the tourists are here and that means the pickpockets are here
00:22as well. And so what I'm going to tell you is it doesn't matter
00:25where you go. If there's going to be a bunch of tourists, there
00:28will probably be some pickpockets around. The second thing I want
00:30you to watch out for is I like to call it the gentleman gelato
00:34goon. You know, in other places, there's the bird poop scam and
00:37the mustard scam. Well, here is the gelato scam. Somebody probably
00:41dressed nicely, maybe a guy, maybe a girl, whoever, whatever,
00:45they'll accidentally bump into you. It's like, oh, scoozy, I got
00:48some ice cream on you. Let me help. And so they're very nice.
00:51They have a napkin and they're going to clean off your shoulder
00:53or whatever. But you'll put your bag down behind you when you do
00:56that someone else comes by and swipes it. Okay, so if someone
01:01spills something on you be like, it's okay, I've got it. Keep
01:03your bags, keep your wits. And so you don't have to worry about
01:06that. Now another not necessarily scam, but something you need to
01:09pay attention to is people getting their bags stolen off the back of
01:13their chairs. And when you walk around Rome, you'll see people are
01:15having lunch outside, they're having their aperitivo, their
01:18drinks, their snacks and whatever. And they gingerly put their bag on
01:22the back of their seat. The thing is, sometimes people walk by and just
01:25take it. It's important you pay attention. Keep your bags in
01:28front of you. Don't put it behind you because that's easy for
01:31people to just walk by and grab, okay?
