00:00all right welcome to deja view the show where we review twin films to decide which one is better
00:05today is episode three we've previously done the prestige versus the illusionist blowout last week
00:10we did dante's peak versus volcano came down to the wire hey that was a good double header yeah
00:14that was fun can't get any closer than that one came out of the last but really came down to
00:17the
00:17last vote it was awesome uh and today before clemmer goes off on paternity well we wanted
00:22to talk about one of his favorite movies observe and report and its other 2009 twin film paul
00:27blart mall cop which is the movie i assume a lot more people are way more familiar with made a
00:32lot
00:32more money made a lot more money and i think i remember had a sequel yeah exactly had a sequel
00:36i remember as a kid like uh i had a moment for observe and report paul blart paul blart yes
00:41for
00:41observe and report never had a moment never and i didn't watch observe and report until i was like
00:45in my 20s oh really this is a red box movie for me i can distinctly remember grabbing that on
00:50red
00:51box i mean like oh seth rogan he's funny yeah and then being like whoa it's dark we'll talk about
00:55the movie but dark uh but paul blart we start off with first it is the first movie to come
01:00out
01:00between these two uh when a shopping mall is taken over by a gang of organized crooks it's up to
01:04a
01:04mild-minded security guard to save the day directed by steve carr who did daddy daycare next friday
01:08also did a segment in movie 43 always a good sign uh written by kevin james and nick biquet uh
01:14stars
01:15kevin james jamia maze who's the woman who i feel like i've seen that woman in a million things
01:20probably most famous for glee yeah i've seen her in a bunch of stuff like i would never have guessed
01:23her
01:23name was john jama jama maze uh kiro donnell bobby kind of volley uh 9-11 kevin great seeing him
01:30again dude yeah i love i love 9-11 watching this with my girlfriend last night and having to explain
01:35to her steven razinezzi which is 9-11 kevin for those sitting at home she was just like what what
01:41are you talking about what are you talking about who is this person i was like no this guy was
01:46like
01:46kind of up and coming about to i think he was about to break through a little bit every other
01:50member of
01:51that cast of the league pretty much broke out except for i guess taco and him and he was kind
01:55of like the star of the show of the league so if you don't know if you're not familiar by
01:58the way
01:58with 9-11 kevin is steve razinezzi he's like a comedian he's in the league he was like gucci's
02:02just saying he was up and coming and then player yeah it turns out he lied about being on like
02:07canter fitzgerald on 9-11 or something no i think he said he was in meryl lynch meryl lynch
02:10didn't even an office there like the whole lie is terrible that was the big problem i'm pretty sure
02:14the lie was just like the most easily debunked yes yeah like he wasn't even he wasn't in the
02:20financial district he was in like midtown he's like where we are and it's a shame because he's
02:24he's a funny pretty damn funny comedian pretty good stand-up yeah he said he said the reason so
02:28like everyone's like why do this and he's like well i just moved to la uh you know previously and
02:33i i
02:33just felt like i needed a story to to kind of make make myself feel different and he just and
02:38the
02:39lie just got out of hand yeah he just could do like one level below that so you're in like
02:42the 93
02:42bombings like people wouldn't even question it sure whatever yeah i bet you were i don't know
02:46we would have been old enough to say you had a cancer diagnosis yeah that's worked to great effect
02:51with some people it's true uh it's got a 34 around tomatoes 2.6 on letterbox uh sony movie uh
02:58cost 26
02:59million to make made 186 pretty good came out january 16th of 2009 it's actually the first january
03:05movie to make 100 million dollars in its initial release oh really isn't that kind of crazy that is
03:09crazy yes it is it's kind of insane for paul uh a little paul blart thing it's filmed also in
03:13massachusetts yes at mall i didn't know that burlington mall at the burlington mall and like
03:17i would go especially when i was doing stuff with kirk like i now i've gone christmas shopping there
03:22after like like and i had gone to the burlington mall beforehand and i'm like that the first half is
03:26like legal seafoods which is a boston uh like massachusetts uh seafood place and like why is it
03:32legal seafoods new jersey and then they go into milton's and milton's is a longtime sponsor kirk milton's a
03:37store for men great and also our old barstool uh sponsor from way back in the day milton's great
03:41place to go if you need any men's clothing uh go go check out milton's but they go to milton
03:45i'm
03:46like this has to be the burlington mall and sure i then i immediately had to pause it and go
03:49on
03:49wikipedia i'm like all right good i'm not it was in my mind burlington mall they were gonna go to
03:52the
03:52willbrook mall which is in new jersey i've been there amazing mall but they denied them they said no
03:56we're not you're not shooting here uh but yeah we'll start with paul blart what do you guys
04:00thought about it started with you first gooch what'd you think in your rewatch of paul blart
04:03yeah i mean when the movie came out it was kind of a i would say minions moment like you
04:09remember the
04:09the minions the gentle minions from a few like i can distinctly remember this movie coming out in
04:14high school and like we were excited for it ironically and i think that carried over to me
04:21like enjoying it the first like enjoying it in the sense of it was really stupid and you watch it
04:27with
04:27your friends and you have fun watching this last night uh with a fully developed brain and no
04:3213 year old boy sitting next to me not a good movie not very funny uh yeah it's like kind
04:39of a
04:40precursor for everything that happy madison has put out since also like you can tell this is the
04:46streaming the streaming formula that they took on yeah i think i'd agree with you in that like this
04:51played for me in 2009 when i was like one of 15 16 something like that like that that played
04:56so much
04:56better with the crowd of the fellows when you're a little teenager like that is so much more fun
05:00as an adult there are parts of it where it still it hits that level where you're like oh yeah
05:05yeah
05:05this is the happy medicine i remember and then like there are other parts where it's just okay
05:08we're still we're doing this we're doing this yeah that that's i'm about the same where you are with
05:13paul blart how about you clemmer never seen it before until until uh for the show and uh yeah it
05:17sucks
05:18um it's really dumb and uh it's really kind of a frustrating watch um yeah paul blart
05:25if this so observing reports one of my favorite movies of all time one of my favorite comedies
05:30of all time um if this does it if observing report doesn't win like i will hold both of you
05:35personally responsible and i will probably do whatever i can destroy both of you you show up
05:39with a gun show up with a gun to work yeah i mean at this point anything's possible this office
05:42so
05:42who knows it should be actually we would be great with paul blart here my god you'd have this
05:46shit handle ronnie in the other hand i don't know thank god dan was here not paul blart or ronnie
05:52yeah uh observing report bipolar mall security guard ronnie barnhart is called into action to
05:57stop a flasher turning the shopper's paradise into a personal peep show when barnhart can't bring the
06:01culprit to justice a surly police detective is recruited to close the case directed by jody hill
06:04written by jody hill you guys i'm seeing i'm assuming anyone watching this has seen a million
06:08jody hill things before at least tried it out before uh stars seth rogan anna faris michael peña and
06:13ray liotta has a 51 on rotten tomatoes and a 2.8 on letterboxd warner brothers movie made 18 million
06:19or sorry cost 18 million made 27 million i mean that's worldwide and it lost worldwide it's bad
06:24uh april it came on april 10th 2009 about 84 days after uh the release of paul blart mall cop
06:32uh start with you clever because again like you're just saying like this is one of your favorite
06:35movies what do you think in your rewatch of observing report yeah i mean i have so much to
06:39say about i guess it's a question of kind of where i i kind of put stuff in i don't
06:42want to like
06:42monopolize this whole thing but like i i just i saw this movie the first time um i i think
06:48i just
06:48i think i'm i think i saw on cables on hbo because i wouldn't have even bought i'm like
06:52observing report i remember this came out briefly i remember like david letterman really loved the
06:56movie and he doesn't really say he loves movies that much i'm thinking i guess the letterman i
06:59guess i'll give it a chance and i was just i loved it so much i watched it again the
07:03next day on hbo
07:04and like this movie i it's so dark it's so it's so it's so mean and then it also we'll
07:11talk more
07:12about like the mental illness element there's like other parts of it that are really complex and
07:16interesting that i want to talk to you guys about um that are really it allows for like a lot
07:21of
07:21rewatches in this which isn't necessarily a sign of a good movie but i i and the jokes hit me
07:26every
07:26time like the reactions are very funny i feel very honest like ray liotta reacts like any of us i
07:31think
07:31would to an extent at least in the first two acts um because this guy is such a frustrating idiot
07:36um i i think it's incredibly brilliant it's one of my like it's of all my favorite comedies i have
07:42a
07:42pretty mainstream comedy take like oh the hangover i love you know groundhog day i love case like the
07:46movies i love everyone kind of loves this is the one where it's like i tell it and some people
07:50like
07:50oh i hate them really yeah i don't know if i've ever heard anyone say they hate it i think
07:54i would
07:54say people at least our age when it came out i would say i've heard people be like uh that's
07:58not
07:58what i expected like because they thought it was well that's that's why it didn't do well yeah it
08:02kind of like is it's way more different than like some i think even the other movies we reviewed
08:05where they've been way more similar in genre like i would say dante speaking of okay way more
08:10correct illusionist and prestige way more similar these tonally are totally different paths although
08:16i do think weirdly enough structurally they are kind of the same on the inside the beats are like
08:20very yes right on the line uh on my rewatch i it is such i would agree with you such
08:25an interesting
08:26movie way more interesting movie than paul blart like such different objectives as movies i would say
08:31for sure like paul blart is like we want to tickle your dumb idiot brain and amuse teenagers and
08:37like this is like we want to make something very dark and twisted and like you were saying
08:40super mean-spirited and just like really dive into something interesting and i think both have
08:45merits in that it's very easy for me to say observant report is way better movie overall
08:50uh but at the same time like it's it's kind of like what are you aiming for here so i
08:55liked it a lot
08:56kind of interesting chris evans says said he auditioned for observant report and is the worst
09:01audition he ever had in his life huh and he bombed it so bad i guess for the seth rogan
09:04role and he
09:05fucked it up that badly and also the casts of both of these movies kept up with each other
09:11because they knew they're they both filmed at the same time oh yeah there's some discrepancy there
09:14too yeah they said like they were talking to each other like we want to make sure we don't dress
09:17the
09:17same you want to make sure we don't look we want to make sure all this stuff is like uh
09:20looks
09:20differently this one not in uh also didn't film in um massachusetts or north it filmed in albuquerque right
09:25yeah um and then years later rogan kind of went back on that story a little bit was kind of
09:30like
09:30saying no like they kind of like ripped us off and it seemed to have some hostility toward the happy
09:35madison crew for kind of like stealing the idea i would say if you if i was seth rogan in
09:402009
09:41where you don't have enough capital to be like fuck you like yeah i understand being one to be
09:45more diplomatic especially versus like adam sandler's crew it's also tough when that movie you
09:49just sounds like sour grapes because that movie blows up becomes a like you said had a pop culture
09:55moment oh it's still like it's still referenced it's me oh yeah like like paul blart is a known
10:00is the thing character yes american media like and i know i'll recommend observer but like i recommend
10:06observing reports like everybody because i'm always kind of curious to see what their takes are and
10:09half people i recommend it to are like i hate that fucking movie that was i i that's the worst
10:13thing
10:13you've ever recommended to me that was horrible and the other half were like that was really great
10:17and um with with paul blart like you said the whole thing is you kind of know what you're getting
10:22into and i feel like with that one you tell people what it is and you you that's what it
10:27is
10:28yeah like there's really no like well it's a dumb comedy yeah all right you sit down you watch a
10:31dumb
10:31comedy now how much you patience you have for that that depends on you but you walk out going all
10:36right
10:36i was kind of i got the bill of sale worked it's like you're recommending like a filet-o-fish
10:39or
10:40something correct like you know you know you know exactly what you're gonna get yeah uh but i
10:44enjoyed it a lot more and i remember the one thing that seemed that cut out to me or stood
10:48out to us
10:49as kids me and my friends would quote all the time was fuck you ronnie oh yeah you used to
10:54say
10:54it all the fucking time we would quote that scene how the fuck would i blow up chick-fil-a
10:58dude i i love because he's in that period was so good so fun that's the one clip that seems
11:03to have
11:03like resonated and lived on is i will see that clip occasionally like on my social media feeds like
11:08i'll see that pop up nothing else from the movie but that that one part of the scene uh what
11:12do you
11:12think in the rewatch yeah no i like this way more than i remember liking it i remember liking it
11:17but
11:17having like you just kind of have a sick feeling in your stomach i think climmer you said mean
11:22spirited yeah it's an upsetting movie very very upsetting and it's it was nice to come back to
11:28this movie with the context of seth rogan's career because seeing this in 2009 he's still coming out of
11:36like pineapple express knocked up knocked up pineapple express actually a year later yeah uh but
11:42yeah he's coming out of the apatow comedies where he's just affable and yes right maybe not always
11:47the best guy but a likable guy not a piece of shit that's for sure he's a scumbag here like
11:53this is
11:53very like it feels that i think they referenced uh taxi driver oh yeah king of comedy is rep as
12:00reference points for this movie and it does feel like it feels like a schrader script this is a very
12:04dark movie if it wasn't set in a mall you wouldn't you would be like what what the hell is
12:09this this is
12:10just this is very upsetting so coming back to this and now knowing like hey this is who seth rogan
12:15is
12:16like he is a interesting guy he is a guy who's interested in not just making something funny but
12:21having something to say while doing it i found this really i'm like if you told me two weeks ago
12:28climmer observe and report and i'd known this serve and report one of my favorite comedies i've been
12:31like oh that's an interesting pick now i'm like yeah no very valid it's a very very smart movie
12:37very smart comedy and funny when it wants to be yeah extremely fun extremely funny yeah very very
12:42funny uh i think one big question i mean you should ask this ahead of getting into like more
12:46of the categories is just like how similar are these movies to you which you kind of referenced
12:51a little bit here i would say that like we were saying tonally miles apart but some of the story
12:57beats like really like everything like it's kind of interesting right yeah like living with the mom
13:01like delusions of grandeur like like they have like oh the uh the the like you're basically your
13:07sidekicks security guard turns evil yes the love interest the love interest the uh the raffle car
13:14gets crashed out of uh glass both times it's the steve razanizzi versus aziz ansari character like the
13:19same like they have like so many of like i think out of all both the movies or all three
13:23now that
13:23we've reviewed this these this is by far story beat wise the most similar oh yeah totally even like
13:30jama mays and anna faris even look a little like oh yeah they both have really big eyes they're
13:34both very pretty with like really expressive eyes and it's like it's there's a lot of similarities
13:39in my head i thought anna faris was in paul blart yeah like i i just misremembered i just had
13:45i think
13:45a lot of people have done that yeah she's actually probably closer to not anna faris but like the
13:49other girl the one that works at like the pretzel place or whatever or the coffee oh that girl
13:52yeah yeah probably close because they're nice and not assholes right but i think looks wise though i think
13:57those two actors the reactions look very similar yeah yeah exactly and like they're both like out
14:01of shape cops can't get in the cops or can't get in the police force like they all so many
14:06of the
14:06story beats are exactly alike it's great cops coming in like the again there's so much of it
14:12italian cop like bobby kind of ollie ray liotta like it's like there are so many like hits that
14:18are so similar you know something funny ray liotta not italian oh he's adopted by an italian family
14:23i didn't know that crazy oh i guess that makes sense for uh henry hill for henry hill well all
14:28the northern italians i mean you've seen yannick center i mean does he look italian but this would
14:32be like if i was teaching a screenwriting 101 class this would be like an interesting thing to do one
14:38week is watch these two movies and like figure out these are these are the same story beats the same
14:43premise and then like how can you make these so different like yeah it's kind of an interesting
14:47study in screenwriting it's like watching like parallel timelines yeah and like seeing how they
14:51differently branch off into different little areas they even both use like uh classic rock
14:56yeah but the i think the score for uh observing port is like one of the best scores ever like
15:00i
15:01think it's like just i mean the score i'm sorry the soundtrack excuse me yeah from the best
15:04soundtracks ever that opening needle drop fucking ripped oh like i think it's just incredible i think
15:09it's like that i i've downloaded it before because it was hard for me to get on apple music so
15:13i i paid
15:14money to get it like i just think it's incredible and then it's all the typical 70s hits you'd expect
15:20in
15:20paul blart like every routine 70s song you've heard eight million times yeah electric light
15:25orchestra like it's just like all the standards but meanwhile the ones in it was important maybe
15:29i had never heard before some of them yeah for sure uh so let's start out with some of the
15:33categories here uh start with the plot uh gooch what do you think had a better the better plot
15:37observe and report or paul blart mall cop it's observe and report and both these movies do kind of
15:42rip off from things like very iconic things like paul blart's die hard in a mall oh yeah at least
15:48the back half and like we were just saying observe and report taxi driver um observe and report does
15:56a much better job of emulating or at least uh graphing its influence into a modern movie um and
16:04i think it's just it's just smarter like it just it not only funnier smarter it gives the actors in
16:11the
16:11movie uh more to work with um yeah i i don't think this this section is not not close like
16:17plot wise
16:18no yeah how about you color yeah pot i want to talk about one thing about the mental illness element
16:22of this movie so um ronnie has bipolar uh and if you watch the movie and it's been this isn't
16:29my idea
16:29i i've read like a number of things on the line of this i really just appreciate this movie it's
16:34a lot
16:34you can dig into with this they say that and jody hell hasn't necessarily said this publicly but he
16:39there's been like you read certain things you kind of like and then you read other forms and stuff
16:44people kind of connect the dots here this movie is supposed to give you the feeling that you are bipolar
16:49because after he stops medic taking his medication the up ups and the low lows are so extreme
16:55and it's a very uncomfortable watch and it's very unsettling and supposedly that's all by design which
17:01i think is unbelievably brilliant that it gives you that impression of like no this is how it feels
17:06like and a lot of stuff it's kind of unreliable narrator stuff like when he's fighting off all
17:10those cops in the movie obviously didn't happen that way like it just doesn't make any sense um
17:14maybe one cop roughed him up but because he's not taking his medicine and he has mental health issues
17:20you're seeing some delusional elements so like all of this stuff is just really interesting and allows
17:25you i said for rewatches it allows you to really give you so much to think about and chew on
17:28like i've been thinking about this movie for i don't know how long did it come out 20 years
17:32almost like 15 years you know i saw it when it came out you should be also right after it
17:35came
17:35out in the theaters like and i've been thinking about this movie non-stop so it's like stuff like
17:39that even goes beyond plot the plot is like like we all said it's the same beats as paul blart
17:44but
17:45those other elements of the screen of the of the script are so like next level brilliant to me
17:49that this isn't this is one of my favorite comedy scripts ever yeah i think i'd agree with you too
17:54into the the the bipolar narrative or viewpoint of it definitely for sure because like you're
17:58like you're saying like he's beating up crack dealers five at a time yeah and the next scene
18:02he's watching like ray liota fuck his girlfriend or whatever like it's like it's it is very
18:06super there's certain and right and and and you he gets he gets very high he gets very low there's
18:11certain things that did happen there's certain things that don't happen and you're like you're
18:14trying to piece it all together as a viewer and it makes it like you have to really focus and
18:16pay
18:17attention yeah i think a observant report is definitely way more interesting plot like unchecked ego
18:21delusions of grandeur seth rogan's like basically the joker like yeah oh yeah more or less like
18:26he's the he's small security joker better better taxi driver ripoff joker or there's a conversation
18:33to be had there yeah there's that monologue he gives at the end that is really actually chilling
18:39and really upsetting and you could hear almost you could hear like a someone who's going to commit
18:42a horrible act speed those things up like i am like how great he is and how he needs to
18:48save
18:48everyone and he's really troubling ways to look at the world there's a great part in that too when
18:52he's doing that monologue is just in my head i thought was very funny where he's like stops and
18:55restarts it yes he fucks it up yeah he's like wait wait let me do that again it's very funny
19:00uh but
19:00it's like it's what's the lot of stuff that i love in observant report is stuff that like paul blart
19:04touches on but in a way less sinister way like the ego stuff and like the i'm way more important
19:09than i
19:09am i promise i'm gonna be a cop i'm all these things i'm actually this big guy like so it's
19:14all the
19:14stuff that like paul blart obviously because the content of the movie that's not what they're trying to do
19:18they'll like glance off of it and like this is like i'm burrowing deep into that idea and that's
19:22where i just i have to give it to observe and report for sure here so it is three nothing
19:26in
19:27favor of observe and report uh so now we do which movie had better acting starting with you clemmer
19:32which movie do you think had better acting i think the acting this movie is fantastic led by seth rogan
19:36who and you're guys right this is the first time you saw him not be kind of a chubby goofball
19:40like here he's like borderline psychotic uh maybe sociopath like he has a lot yeah a terrible human
19:49being like a lot of really like i mean we didn't have this there's a whole there's a whole date
19:53rape scene yeah that when this movie came out it got a lot of attention for people were even at
20:00the
20:00time really troubled by it and they should be like it's fucked up he gets this girl really fucked up
20:04and
20:04he takes her back he doesn't seem to care that she's not uh in a good state um she does
20:09luckily
20:09she does at least wake up during that at least gives it some but like even that though that's
20:15still not obviously acceptable right to do um but the fact that he was willing to go to those places
20:21and kind of a fearless performance by him and then you get other like you know anna faris is having
20:26so much fun just being this she's a horrible person too like a horrible the way she treats the
20:30waitstaff like just a complete shithead and the fact that all these people were willing to buy in
20:35and play these roles that were not very likable jesse plements also like so funny in this uh as
20:39kind of the voice of reason like there's so many people that are willing to kind of go all in
20:43on this
20:43that it has to be observant report for me yeah observant report how about you gooch yeah like if
20:47these were two franchises looking for a trade like the only thing paul blart has to offer is kevin
20:53james like he would be like the fourth best player on absorb on observant report and i do like kevin
20:58james i think he's like maybe not my not the guy i think is the funniest person in the world
21:03but like
21:03in family comedies he's so likable he's good in solomio yeah yeah like exactly like family stuff
21:08like he is you really you want to root for the guy you really do yeah but observe and report
21:15like you
21:15got not only is seth rogan i think fantastic in this and i want to come back to him here
21:19in a second
21:20but like anna faris is throwing 100 here yeah like really good really so off like her your normal
21:25type of role too yeah yeah michael payna like maybe the funniest oh my god ever been he's so
21:30funny every delivery he's killing me it's so weird it's so funny it's so true he just said it exactly
21:39like he said it when they're like chinese guys are apologizing they just said it the exact same way
21:44uh young plemons aziz ansari shows up and just delivers one of the best ones so funny um yeah it's
21:53it's really not close but seth rogan i was thinking about this and he he has like developed
21:57as an actor and started to take on and obviously takes on way more serious stuff but i would love
22:03to see him play something more straight like this like maybe this isn't played entirely straight but
22:08be willing to be completely unlikable which i think this character is because anytime he plays a lot of
22:15unlikable characters but he's constantly couching it and i'm talking about still today he constantly
22:19couches it and like his likability his charisma he turns it on when he wants to to really couch kind
22:25of like i still want to root for this guy look at look how funny his laugh is look how
22:29look how funny
22:30and snarky and witty he is which i'd love to see him ditch that and really try to do something
22:34like
22:35this again yeah really go back to this your ronnie's not witty at all no no he's not maybe the
22:41least
22:42funny character in the movie the only funny when it's funny it's funny because it's happening to him
22:46yes yes he's not creating it for sure and like even looking at his like uh filmography after that
22:51it kind of feels like that jaded him maybe this a little bit because he does this and funny people
22:54in the same year which is definitely more of a serious oh yeah and then like after that it's
22:58like green hornet paul kung fu panda like kung fu panda again in the same year listen those things
23:04sorry kung fu panda secret of the masters short film uh goat trip this is the end neighbors 22 jump
23:10shoot like it takes him a while to get back to it but he does with like um jobs or
23:14steve jobs
23:14whatever yeah yeah he eventually gets back to it but even that's not obviously the same sort of vibe
23:18this is going for um i would agree with you both i'm also on the team of observing report here
23:23i
23:23think seth rogan gives it single best acting performance out of these two movies uh the rest
23:28comes down to kind of side roles i think with paul blart i think 9-11 kevin's actually very funny
23:33he's so funny he really like i'm not kidding he had something dude he was really funny in it like
23:38he might be out of all the side characters me like michael payne is right there like he was
23:42every single line he said made me laugh every single one was so good when he's like offering
23:47the pen to the lady yeah this is a found out 250 this is yours to keep like it's just
23:51like
23:51yeah i don't know when he walks into american jews this place sucks yeah yeah this place sucks
23:56and he's wearing like head to toe ed hardy with like the big like holographic fucking thing that
24:00was funny dude he was he was oh and she's like anyone want a drink see spine no no no
24:05they're good
24:05they're good yeah yeah he was really funny bobby kind of volley in a short time period i thought was
24:10very funny most of the side characters in general i don't think kind of always that funny
24:13well yeah i think he was good towards the end he's like we used to we used to make fun
24:16of this fat
24:17but then but then he but then he backs off and at one point they're like he's like can i
24:20have more
24:20time he's like sure and say what what character are you when they turn serious it gets a little
24:24different for sure but yeah i think he was good and i love probably kind of like incredible in blue
24:28moon but like this is just there's nothing to do here his grandma i think was also pretty funny
24:31paul blart's grandma doesn't hold a candle to uh seth workman's mom who i think was she
24:36delivers i think when the funniest line of the entire thing he's like meeting dad i knew right
24:40then and there i'd fuck him that night and then he's like is it my fault he left probably probably
24:45yeah you clean me up after i sore all my pants it's like what the fuck is going on in
24:50that house
24:51she's so funny she was like that might be actually the best side uh set character gotta get better
24:55you're gonna start stop drinking well yeah not liquor is gonna drink beer just beer oh i'm so proud
25:02to your mom that's kind of like the the mom carries i guess grandma mom and grandma characters
25:07are like kind of a really that's like a really cool linchpin right there in terms of like how
25:11differently they handle that character yes for sure like the most loving over the top like
25:16doing his like dating website yeah on the other side still just as loving but it's like she's feeding
25:22into everything wrong with him like she's like almost the reason why he's probably like that
25:27yes exactly uh and then also we didn't even mention like pat and oswald's very funny in this
25:31oh yeah he's so mean he's such an asshole like she's a broken leg they're acting like she's like
25:36the worst piece of shit in the world he's so good and i love that they even pat also even
25:40loops that
25:41other girl into it yeah yeah it's like oh my leg i can't walk this is this is my impression
25:45of her
25:45oh help me like dude he's so good he's such a shit and when he like beats him up that's
25:51great the
25:51the twin security guards are hilarious painting is great like and even like um uh what's his name uh
25:57who showed up as the crack dealer um oh uh danny mcbrow oh yeah who was supposed to play this
26:02role
26:02but it took too long i guess and then like he had scheduling conflicts uh but he i thought when
26:07he
26:07shows up for five seconds to crack dealer that's my son he was very good very very funny you're gonna
26:12suck this gun like a cop or something what he's i don't know but he was great too so i'm
26:16off the edge
26:17towards observing report too although i do think shout out 9 9 11 kevin yes i think he was very
26:23funny
26:23oh yeah by far the funniest part of the movie yeah uh so now it's now six to nothing in
26:28favor
26:28of observing port now we do technical so this is like all the stuff you know more technical elements
26:32of the movie uh starting out with me i actually think so the movie observing port is shot better
26:38there is like no question about that and i would agree with you the music is better i do think
26:42the
26:42production value on blart which is a more expensive movie like i think it looks better like to me when
26:47i'm
26:48like looking which one in paul blart like i think like the mall looks better i think a lot of
26:52like
26:52the block like the stuff it's supposed to be depressing i disagree yeah i think the mall
26:58actually i can see the case but paul blart's mall made me miss the mall in a very specific way
27:03like
27:03what the mall used to be like that's my idea everywhere which is i mean like that was like
27:07my idea of like the mall like going to it's like exciting and happy and like everybody's like in a
27:11good mood whereas like observing report is like that's what it was like the reality just like
27:16schlubby like miserable people i think there's something about the production of it i think kevin
27:20james or paul blart which i did think is like slightly better but like it's the the camera
27:26work on the like the fading frames between observing report are the scene when ronnie steals the car and
27:32they put the camera in the car and you go through the glass with him like that alone is so
27:36much better
27:37than any element of paul blart yeah like i mean it's technically to me it's like this is like this
27:41is one of those things where it's like the money definitely shows up a little bit more but they had
27:44more to work with so i think i would go with observing report but it's closer than you might think
27:49so observing report for me how about you gooch i think observing report like in a route yeah in a
27:55route uh and klimmer brought up before like you kind of the movie takes you on his mental journey
28:01like it it takes you through his chaotic and like up and down bipolar brain and the like the way
28:08it's
28:08shot and very taxi driver-esque like it you're seeing these delusions and you kind of don't know
28:13what to trust and i think a lot of that goes back to how they shoot this movie um which
28:17i think is just
28:18it just really surprised me on how good this actually was yeah yeah how about you clever yeah
28:24i think it's observing report by a mile there's there's even like the shot of like them going
28:28down the escalator and like they're all posing which is obviously all in rogan's mind but even
28:32jesse plemons is like who why are we posing why are we here but it's just the way it's framed
28:37and
28:37the way it's just shot is in kind of the slow-mo thing it's it's both satire it's making fun
28:43of like
28:43just posing but it's also like adds this layer of oh this guy has mental like when you watch
28:48enough times like this guy's mental illness issues and that's are we even seeing reality here
28:51on top of like i said the that that shot in with uh michael payne steals the car yeah is
28:57one of the
28:58best shots i think in any comedy you'll get because it is so jarring when it goes to the glass
29:01it's
29:02just stunning to see um i think this movie is not even close i think production wise and i also
29:08just
29:08think i will say like the mall they shoot paul bar at is still a really like lively yeah great
29:14mall
29:15it's a really nice mall um this mall though i think is more and it's supposed to be a depressing
29:21the mall and observant port is supposed to be a depressing shit i think it got demolished like
29:23right after they finished totally i mean no it was abandoned that's how they got in there yeah
29:27so it was an abandoned mall exactly right about to be demolished anyway that's how they got access
29:31to it yeah um which i guess if you want to give paul bar some credit they had a tougher
29:35thing
29:36because um observant port had full access to that mall yeah they could only shoot at night
29:40yeah yeah in fact i guess they had christmas decorations up until april at the at the
29:45burlington mall to for this movie um so but i observe and report by a mile yeah observe and
29:50report by a mile as you wait for the how did paul blart not come out at christmas by the
29:53way
29:54it's crazy how'd they miss that window they missed it by like not even that long i know like why
29:58not
29:59but it worked though i mean it's the biggest january i mean they did something right uh so it is
30:03nine
30:03nothing in favor of observe and report it's getting turned into a bit of a route maybe maybe we have
30:07one point we can give to paul blart here uh directing uh starting out with let's do you this
30:12time clemmer what do you think had the better director which movie yeah i mean jody hill by
30:16a mile i mean this is this is not like a sitcom a lot of these just kind of it's
30:20a steve kerr steve
30:21carver fan not steve kerr steve carver no i don't think he ever directed in the movie again either or
30:25did he direct like a major film again i should say a major film uh i don't believe so um
30:29i was looking
30:30up last night um yeah i think this is just this is shot just really well damn they didn't even
30:36give
30:36him paul bart i know wow that's crazy which i think he should have gotten we need a freaky
30:40friday tv movie 43 yeah that's what i said before everyone's ahead yeah everyone's to blame for that
30:46though yeah that's not him thing daddy daycare i don't hate that movie that came out first though
30:51right oh yeah way before i think right i'm not sure like he didn't did he christmas comedy they
30:57didn't give him other stuff which is kind of crazy because like this made a lot of money
30:59yeah i guess i don't know people liked it like it's not for me but people liked it
31:03yeah i don't know um but yeah i mean observant report by law yeah i think it's it's hard for
31:08me to compare in a way only because you have to consider the objectives because like you're doing
31:13paul fart mall cop like what how much how much can you elevate the that sort of movie where you're
31:18appealing to like dumb teens and like that sort of humor they're not trying i think to make like
31:22i think if he was trying to make a movie like observant report it'd be easier to judge like a
31:27one-to-one rate like that sort of thing because i think if you gave jody hill the script to
31:31paul
31:31like i don't know i mean he would have done some creative interesting stuff with it i don't know
31:34with happy madison how many happy madison movies are creative but i think he would have tried i
31:39think there would have been there's no effort here it's tough for me to sort of do it because it's
31:43like he's not going for sophomoric on the nose simple humor with happy madison that just is what
31:48it is but you also can look you're giving a shit sandwich right there's only so there's only so
31:52many things you can do with that but you can at least maybe cut the crust off and do something
31:58with
31:58do something a little different with it like he didn't there's not i didn't see anything different
32:01here how many happy madison movies do you think have done that i don't know do you think they
32:04would approve something like that do they approve like i think they're pretty much like you are
32:08making straightforward dumb person but that's i'm not going to reward this guy for that i'm not
32:12rewarding him i'm saying like that if you're working within the constraints of what they want
32:15like that's just that's kind of his you know what paul bar won the box office you don't get
32:18anything else he made a shit movie i kind of want to see where happy madison was at
32:22coming in at this point like what was before and what was that right before paul blart doesn't i
32:27gotta pull it up here now so let me see all right paul blart same year as funny people and
32:33the
32:33shortcut which i was funny people was happy madison yeah you had to be i mean adam's in it but
32:37like
32:37that was a very different that's with judd apatow's production company and that movie actually looks
32:42really good i do think i think sandler's in here just kind of like that's a good movie i want
32:46to
32:46re-watch that me too i haven't seen that in a while but i remember like loving that actually
32:50that's pretty funny uh but before that in 2008 they had strange wilderness which i i think is
32:56actually that's an okay movie you don't mess with the zohan which i think is funnier than this
33:00looks better than this zohan messes up looks better than this uh the house bunny which is
33:05definitely better than this house bunny house bunny oh yeah that's a funny movie i don't think
33:10it's not an i don't think it's an unfunny movie but these are pretty much in the same plane to
33:13me i
33:14now pronounce you chuck and larry that's not that's not a good one not a good one click the bench
33:19warmers so they were awesome shit they were it's not as cut and dry i thought this might have been
33:24like the demarcation point for like the decline but it actually was already kind of in full swing
33:312005 the longest yard which i i like 51st date so far i guess that would have been like the
33:35last
33:36really good good one but yeah and then afterwards it just grown-ups just go with it zookeeper but then
33:42he gets really jack and jill so it does really fall off after this yeah this would be like the
33:46best
33:46movie in the next 10 years yeah yeah grown-ups do here comes the boom here that's another kevin
33:52james i've never seen that one i have not why did i i understand kevin james is incredibly likable
33:57but do you think adam sandler wishes that like maybe he was fine well chris farley it would have
34:03been chris farley yeah yeah yeah i think he's if you watch like king of queens he's so he is
34:08in that
34:08so he's not over the top slapsticky doofus like being like a dumb sitcom dad guy i think is so
34:15perfect for him where he's like a regular human at the same time yeah but like when he's like the
34:19oh
34:19like that guy doesn't exist paul part here comes the boom like that guy isn't real i don't like
34:24that as much on the same way great example too yes yeah yeah so uh i think again to me
34:29with
34:30directing it's like what do you you have a harder job for jody hill because he's writing directing
34:33a movie that's r-rated nasty mean movie that's looking into all this crazy shit but like do you
34:40intrinsically reward that versus someone where like my objective is to make money off of dumb
34:45kids going to see a stupid comedy it's like that is the objective objective achieved right
34:49gymnastics you're trying to do to give this point producers like that's what they're they're worried
34:54about the box office do you think if he tried to make like a like a thought-provoking movie out
34:58of
34:58pulp art like what would they say what do you think i have madison's like good good job not thought
35:01provoking but i think it could have been funnier and at least engaging in the back half like the die
35:06like if you're gonna do the die hard thing you gotta really commit to it and they kind of halfway
35:09do it
35:10where i think it's this villain so the villain the australian i don't yeah that guy that guy yeah
35:17if that guy's like put bonnie cannavale in there and do like some funky italian american ripoff of
35:23like hans gruber that guy was like in what wedding crashers and then this and then nothing again
35:27yeah like there's just there's some decisions that could have been made here that i think would have
35:32made it still the happy madison movie a dumb juvenile comedy but just 10 times better like this
35:37this is a this is not a good happy madison movie this is a bad one yeah i'm just i'm
35:43trying to give
35:44it some credit where i'm like you they absolutely got everything they wanted out of this no like
35:48financially they did financially also like cultural impact wise like that happy madison was paul bart
35:53if you want to go bar for bar naming happy madison characters paul bart's one of them but can i
35:57give
35:57can i give the director credit for that or can i give adam saylor credit for just hey would it
36:01be
36:02funny if like kevin james i would give kevin james credit kevin james yeah like hey
36:06that's kevin james is a fat mall cop like yeah like i think you could have just done that given
36:12the camera to a 13 year old and it would have made 180 million dollars i just think that you
36:16have to
36:17give it a level of i'm not saying you have to like reward like wow great job like we just
36:21reviewed um
36:21uh insidious out of the further which made like billion times more money than like half the other
36:26than tony it made five times more money than tony five times more money than tony it's like i don't
36:29reward that for being like your eighth installment in a horror franchise of course i don't want to reward
36:34for that i will say like as far as like you this is what happy madison probably wanted out of
36:40this
36:40and they got that success there as far as like this is a good movie it's obviously not it's not
36:45a good
36:45movie and observe report is a pretty good movie and 51 by the way i think it's a great so
36:49a lot of
36:49people this came out this was not well received seth rogan said the only people who liked it were
36:53howard stern and david letterman that's good enough for me i think it's like just goes back to what i
36:57said when i first watched i think most people just expected something and i looked up the cinema
37:01score a second ago and that's kind of always indicative of like how does a movie meet the
37:05expectations it's less of like how much did you like it right like did the audiences get what they
37:09expected and observe reports like a c which is really hard that's all that's horrible hard
37:15cinema score yes yeah and paul blart was a b so like audiences got this is also a really upsetting
37:21disturbing movie yes like it's not for everyone which if you're expecting a funny comedy even if you're
37:25not there's a lot of people that don't most i think most people anyone watching this loves movies
37:31but i think your average person on the street they watch you know one or two they go to movies
37:35maybe once a month and that's it they're the big film person of their group yes exactly and they want
37:40something that's in one ear out the other they don't want to be this uh observable port challenges
37:46you it grabs you by the fucking the shirt and challenges you mentally paul blart doesn't do that and
37:51most people want that yeah they want to be entertained and just and just something to laugh
37:55goofy yet i think paul blart is also like you get families into that too no family was going to
37:58see
37:58observable report no like there's so many other elements to that no um but yeah i think i would
38:02give it to jody hill for sure just because like he the the the process here is so much harder
38:07making an r-rated movie that's delving into this sort of stuff while also trying to be i would say
38:11like if for a general public audience funny it's also funny yeah funny and dealing with mental illness
38:15on top of all that stuff not easy which i think he's a great director by the way he's a
38:19great writer
38:19you watch any of his other stuff so uh i'm gonna go with jody hill here yeah jody hill for
38:23sure
38:23for sure for all the points we've kind of been circling around yeah so it's it's a runaway
38:28it's a pointless for paul blart uh entertainment value just again just pure what do you have more
38:34fun watching uh this is an area i think you could we could give a little bit of praise to
38:39paul blart
38:40here for that sort of value uh versus observable port which is funny very mean-spirited not not maybe
38:46you watch leaving like i feel like i feel i'm feeling good after observable necessarily uh so start with
38:51you clemmer which one gives you more entertainment value do i even have to guess you're right this
38:55this could have been this could have been an area like all right if it's just simply having more
38:58fun if paul blart was good i maybe would throw a bone to paul blart but like it's it's also
39:04like
39:05i didn't have any fun watching paul blart either like i had a lot of i i fight fun is
39:09the right word
39:09for it i don't know but like i don't know i more laughs way more laughs i was way more
39:14entertained
39:14and that's what i look for in movies so for me but if it's simply the the bar is fun
39:19i still had
39:20more fun watching the movie about the sociopathic date raper than i did watching you know kevin james
39:27you know on a segue yeah like that's just not fun for me so fun is still observable report for
39:33me
39:34one for observable report gooch yeah i mean there is a world in which paul blart may be a different
39:41version of paul blart maybe be tell observable report in this category but like
39:46observable report just is funnier it's like more action-packed the the dialogue is more snappy
39:51like the things that it's doing makes you you know sit and really stay engaged with the movie like
39:58it's observable report i think like very clearly so for entertainment value i try to think of it like
40:03what movie would i if i'm scrolling through like streaming service like what i throw on while i'm doing
40:09something else almost that might be paul blart i would never throw on paul blart ever i would never
40:15watch that movie again as long as i live hopefully but i don't think that movie would ever observe
40:19report i want to sit and watch i could have that in the background i don't know there's so many
40:22funny readings that it gets away with getting like you know what i mean like it's doing a very dark
40:28thing but it also gets away with doing a lot of stupid like very funny bits yeah the season's already
40:32bit is so the patten oswalt stuff is so funny the mom also like the music's way better and just
40:38looks better like i would just have on like i don't get me wrong over the report is not my
40:42go-to
40:42to have on the background like twice in paul blart yeah like i legitimately laughed twice when
40:48when every time like and this is the dumbest thing about the movie every time he just like was fat
40:54paul blart dude every time he was just like he would have a really fat moment where he'd just be
40:58like yeah i get the meat i got the meatloaf in my head i want the meatloaf again like everything
41:01that was not allowed it was so stupid but that's like there was one moment when he's like running
41:06uh by the airport and he runs and he falls down he gets back up and runs that made me
41:11like have
41:12half a chuckle but otherwise the uh the guy at the american joe's when he's like this place sucks
41:16yeah that made me laugh every residency scene but other than that i don't really it didn't really
41:20laugh at all the the head-to-toe ed hardy is such a great 2009 shithead guy he's like you
41:27sell pens
41:28at the mall dude yeah that was good that was good uh yeah i mean it's it is it is
41:33very hard because i
41:34don't like paul blart it is way more in the cultural lexicon made more money yes kids know it no
41:40if you if you went up to like a 18 year old in the street right now like would you
41:43know what a
41:43paul blart is i don't really i don't really care what 18 year olds no i'm just saying like that's
41:46not a
41:47barometer of staying power and all that stuff like for entertainment value and whatever but like
41:51they then they would not know i think you go to a 45 year old person and say do you
41:55know what
41:55observing report is no do you know paul blart yes i think any age i mean one had one one
42:00was a hit
42:00yeah but that's that's where i'm trying to give it something for entertainment value where it's like
42:04you had a cultural cultural staying power and all this if paul blart has that half of it's ironic
42:09half of it's not even really real it's just like oh yeah i remember that like it's so it's very
42:13also the name helps it's a great name it's a great name it's a great name they were
42:16cooking when they found a paul blart that sounds like fart like it's just like it was so simple
42:20and also that that sounds like a mall cop's name it does sound like a mall cop's name uh i'll
42:25go
42:26let's go with our first clean sweep yes this would have been a tough year if you're a mock-up
42:30oh yeah oh man maybe that's what you do and you're listening to this podcast and i'm sorry because
42:36like this dude it gets reinforced twice that every mall cop lives with their mom yes can't get a
42:41date you know like they're what do you call it uh fat out of shape can't get in the cops
42:45they're
42:45losers yes and it's like i don't know the guys the guys probably just like security i don't know
42:49i'm trying it's a job it's a job he's trying to like pay the bills and like and all they're
42:53doing
42:54is shitting on you dude it was it was now you can't see like a like not just mall cops
42:59but if
42:59you see like hired security like you think paul blart yes dude they probably get called paul blart
43:04like in a mean way oh all the time all the time yeah yeah you know like you know like
43:08you mentioned
43:09the kids like i'm sure some kids like fuck it like fuck around them all right paul blart yeah
43:13yeah it's gonna be tough so it's gonna be clean sweep for observing yes what a great gift to go
43:17away on paternity this is this is one this is this is one if you haven't seen it although you
43:21haven't seen it and you watched this far it's weird it would be closer to be honest like i really
43:25points i thought there would be some points for paul blart here but i think it speaks more to how
43:29much better observe and report is on rewatch for me yeah uh a couple questions to ask we'll do the
43:35same thing we did last time if you flip the casts which movie is better i actually don't know i
43:39don't
43:40know oh no it's uh it's observing reports better jody hill observing report with kevin james as
43:46i don't ronnie does seth rogan have a hand in i i would be interested to see how much seth
43:52rogan
43:52had a hand in the production of observing report you know what i mean yeah oh for sure i i'm
43:59sure he
43:59was very involved but i think this is jody it just has jody hill's fingerprints all over it i i
44:03think
44:04kevin james look we said we had kevin james and solomio there's things you can do with him maybe he
44:08could he's not gonna hit the same depths of seth rogan but yeah i still observe more it's a better
44:12movie what about script just rogan as paul blart i don't know i think it's hard no i i just
44:19don't
44:19know if kevin james can get to the points that you need looking at him i can't physically get to
44:24the
44:24dark places that seth rogan's going in that with kevin james in mind it could be kind of like it
44:30could
44:31be interesting having kevin james in that role he played a neo-nazi movie do you remember that
44:35that was a few years that's right a long time ago that's right but like skinhead that was crazy
44:39so i mean i played an mma mma fighter two years after this yeah i don't know i feel like
44:45it's
44:45actually a pretty tough question and what other roles do you have grandma switch the security guys
44:49so jesse plemons and paul blart the problem is the supporting cast i know you use right well you
44:54guess you get bobby cannavale but yeah that's it and that's really it right nine bobby cannavale
45:00dude this is like right when he was doing he's great empire base or maybe a little bit after
45:04yeah right around then yeah he's great i i believe but you're right you who else do you get not
45:08much
45:08he would actually be really good in re-loaded really otis role i think re-loaded was great but
45:11and even the girls you i would you lose and jayma may is like it's very very very pretty but
45:16you lose
45:17yeah like anna faris like that's a loss patten oswalt would actually fit perfectly in paul blart
45:22he literally he plays kevin james's brother and he has paul blart maybe you just move the cast
45:27around yeah and instead you put patten oswalt as paul blart who would seth rogan play then oh
45:34as the hans gruber uh maybe i don't know or the steve resin is he character i guess resin is
45:41he's
45:41right yeah yeah that's a tom haverford character yeah big time yeah yeah oh dude he'd be great at
45:49the pen salesman too damn this would be he would have been great we should like i guess he's coming
45:55in the movie then yeah oh and observing report oh what was going on there yeah let's try to be
46:01funny like that was a rough the green card jokes were weird and those are tough uh if you flip
46:08the
46:08release dates does observing report do better no observing was never gonna work yeah the idea
46:13that they thought it was gonna work it just shows you how that movie was never going to work and
46:18you
46:18could review this movie today and it would never work yeah it's way too dark for regular for your
46:23traditional audience it's not likable it's not fun it's disturbing and weird it's crazy that we
46:29there was a time when taxi driver ever worked yeah because that's a really just and joker i guess but
46:34i guess because of the joker the batman element you could kind of get away that's a really upsetting
46:38movie too the marketing of it i imagine was probably a huge part where they're like i'm assuming taxi
46:42driver is not marketed like hey it's much more straightforward like you know yeah yeah observing
46:45report was marketed as a comedy hey there's the chucklehead robert de niro coming in to play him
46:49yeah so i'm sure that wasn't but joker you figure that was it's still batman you went in and you
46:54walked away really disturbed but the marketing the marketing very dark always like this is a
47:00remember the whole like people thought there was going to be shootings in the theater yeah that's
47:04true um yeah it's true and then lastly which mall would you rather visit between the two malls
47:10the burlington mall is great paul bart mall yeah i just went there like a couple years ago
47:15like i said milton's go check out milton's uh but the the food corps upstairs is great that that's a
47:20that's like one of the best malls in the country dude that mall looked awesome looked great so much
47:25fun it's a great mall i don't know what malls felt like when you're a kid observing port malls like
47:29the seventh circle of hell yeah that was horrible it was gross yeah okay i just keep thinking about
47:34dude i miss the mall man when he supersedes aziz and aziz is like talking to the girl he's like
47:40i didn't
47:40know that girl was underage like yeah yeah even right even he's like every one of these movies
47:45is horrible they're all horrible people it's so good in the end when like he shoots the stalker
47:51or the the the flasher or whatever that's another great directing job by jordi like that when you
47:56see it for the first time it takes your breath away you are it is shocking yeah what's his name
48:00the dude from veep uh that runs the mall oh yeah oh yeah yeah he comes in and he's like
48:05what the
48:05fuck and the blood is everywhere and it's like and you got the pixies in the background it is just
48:11that whole thing is oh my peace oh my god i love that he shoots him straight in the chest
48:17yeah
48:17yeah right yeah right and really i was like no what'd you do and then like the guy just is
48:23still
48:23breathe yeah he's like oh he's a lot and he and he brings him all the way to the fucking
48:27station in
48:28that golf cart yes which you wonder is that delusioned i win yeah no that's i mean that kind
48:34of becomes predictive of a lot of things that happen after 2009 i think but uh yeah no this this
48:40movie
48:41just a lot better than i remember scene too when uh he's like ray liota's like telling him that
48:46he's not making the academy the guy's in the closet oh yeah i thought this is gonna be really funny
48:49it's just sad which is just us in the theater in 2009 i thought it was gonna be a lot
48:54of fun
48:56at the end of the movie at the very end so he uh he brings leota this guy's all shot
49:02and he goes
49:03see i win and then i don't know if you ever noticed it's quick but leota looks at the part
49:07and
49:07he's like all right so what like this is the biggest moment of ronnie's life and it's just like
49:11whatever or whatever it doesn't matter these guys at all when he throws the kid down it's
49:15all around the crack to your kid on the ground and you shut the fuck up and the kid doesn't
49:21flinch yeah yeah he doesn't even move dude it's it is a very good movie what was it like your
49:26actual rating on this i give it four stars on letterbox uh it's like yeah um i don't go above
49:31four stars very often like for i think i go because i just have hail mary or something yeah probably
49:36mary went i went to four and a half i think i've like comedies i think ghostbusters i have
49:40ahead of it um a couple other ones very few oh maybe role models i might have ahead of it
49:46but it's close it might be this um it could go back and forth no i there aren't many i
49:51have over
49:51four stars like yeah i just think the world of this movie um but i'm glad you guys did too
49:56that
49:56makes me really happy because like sometimes i'll have conversations with people and it's like they
49:59just hate it i haven't watched in probably like i don't know like 10 years or something like that
50:02i remember i always liked it yeah but i think as an adult you pick up on a lot more
50:07like even like
50:07the mental illness stuff i think not to me like went over my head but i'm watching like that
50:10doesn't matter to me of course i'm looking i'm laser focused on laughs as like a young 20 yes
50:14whatever but like now i'm way more interested in the other stuff which is way more apparent when
50:17you get older uh so the winner of this one is observe and report in a clean clean sweep first
50:24of
50:24the series so far only three episodes and uh good luck to clamor on his paternity leave he will not
50:28be
50:28on the next few episodes but next up what do you guys have next i'm excited oh we're gonna have
50:32white house down versus olympus's fallen vital bird oh that's perfect this is an absolutely laser
50:38perfect fit for him and then we'll have a couple other ones along the way but again we have some
50:41we have a lot to get to a lot to the list is huge yeah we're gonna save some for
50:44you like we'll be
50:45saving like tombstone versus wider for uh some maybe i think deep impact versus armageddon you might do
50:49some other people here uh we have like no strings attached friends with benefits uh ants bug's life
50:54sing about ryan thin red line brave red robber white lots of stuff to get to uh and also jobs
50:58versus steve jobs in the seth rogan movie which we will get to eventually uh until then we will see
51:02you guys next time
