00:08:08I mean, he's gotten a lot of love this preseason,
00:08:10especially from a lot of these games where the public can watch him play.
00:08:14I know Alec Lewis did a great job featuring him in The Athletic
00:08:17just a couple days ago in his journey to get to this point.
00:08:21So very quickly, I think within the last 24 hours,
00:08:24a lot of Vikings fans have picked up on who he is.
00:08:28There's now emotional connection to him.
00:08:30So I think a lot of people are holding their breath right now.
00:08:32Here's a young man who walked on, walked on for college,
00:08:37and, you know, didn't really, didn't have a lot of attention.
00:08:40His dad had to work on Sundays, 16 hours a day on Sunday,
00:08:43just to keep him in school.
00:08:45So he ended up graduating from James Madison.
00:08:49The numbers, I think the deck's been stacked against him,
00:08:51I think, his whole entire life.
00:08:53I think he's going to keep battling.
00:08:55Will Lutz kicks for the Denver Broncos.
00:08:59It'll be a 44-yard drive left hash, snap spot,
00:09:02and the Denver Broncos have taken a 3-0 lead.
00:09:0611 and a half minutes to go in the first quarter from Denver.
00:09:09It's Vikings football.
00:09:12Welcome back to Vikings football on the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:09:16Denver leads 3-0, and it's time for our Hy-Vee rookie spotlights,
00:09:20and it focuses on this guy, DeMond Claiborne.
00:09:24Yeah, the speedster out of Wake Forest.
00:09:26I mean, everybody is so excited about what he can do.
00:09:28You talk to any one of the offensive guys,
00:09:31and their eyes sort of light up on what his performances have been like in camp.
00:09:34We feel like he's tailor-made for this wide zone scheme.
00:09:38I tell you what, though, this could be right here
00:09:41where he makes his biggest impact this year,
00:09:43showing off that 4-3-7 speed on kickoff return.
00:09:46And, Ben, he's a bigger running back than you would think.
00:09:48Most of the time, the speedy guys are very slim.
00:09:51He has a good base to him.
00:09:53All that, I think, adds up to being a good returner.
00:09:55Boom!
00:09:56There's the kick.
00:09:57The aforementioned rookie fields it at the 2-near side.
00:10:00Comes to the 10, 15, 20.
00:10:02Able to skip over a Bronco at the 25.
00:10:06And it's a 28-yard return.
00:10:08Your starting quarterback for the final preseason game, Carson Wentz.
00:10:1311th year, North Dakota State University.
00:10:169 of 11, 92 yards versus the Ravens.
00:10:19The week before that, 9 of 14, 81 yards.
00:10:22And the Vikings' only preseason touchdown,
00:10:25it went the way of Miles Price at MetLife Stadium
00:10:28and was a nice one-handed grab.
00:10:31Max Brosmer will get a fair amount of playing time also.
00:10:34First and 10 Vikings from their own 30.
00:10:38Minnesota moving company left to right.
00:10:40Ryan Vandermark along with Bershon Lee.
00:10:44Joe Huber's your center.
00:10:46Walter Rouse, the right guard.
00:10:47And Henry Bird, the right tackle.
00:10:49Toss right, Javon Claiborne, corraled by a Bronco.
00:10:53No gain.
00:10:54It's second and 10.
00:10:56Oh, by the way, 40.
00:10:58Chaz Chambliss is in the game.
00:11:00They did this one time against the Baltimore Ravens.
00:11:04In fact, he changed his number to 40.
00:11:06He's an outside linebacker.
00:11:07He's an edge guy.
00:11:08Changed his number to 40 so he could declare himself eligible
00:11:12more frequently on offense.
00:11:15And this is something Kevin O'Connell likes a lot.
00:11:18Now, Max Bredesen is the first fullback.
00:11:20But Chaz Chambliss played fullback at Georgia
00:11:24and in high school in Carrollton, Georgia.
00:11:27And he's getting an opportunity tonight.
00:11:29Pretty cool.
00:11:30Chambliss in front of Claiborne on second down.
00:11:34Claiborne was following a Chambliss block.
00:11:37But he didn't like it.
00:11:38And he darted his way up to the right four-yard game third down.
00:11:42Hey, Ben, it's nervous enough to have to understand all the defense
00:11:45when you go into a preseason game.
00:11:47But then to tack on a bunch of offensive plays as well, that's a lot.
00:11:51But it's a credit to Chaz Chambliss.
00:11:53And he's willing to do whatever it takes to get himself on the field.
00:11:56Yeah, they're trying to find a spot for him.
00:11:58Even last week, he was playing a little inside linebacker
00:12:01where he normally is an outside linebacker.
00:12:03So they're doing all they can to show off his versatility.
00:12:05But here's the beauty of it.
00:12:07We have another 40 who plays offense.
00:12:09He's wide left.
00:12:10Terrell Davis.
00:12:11Wentz looked that way.
00:12:12Instead, he loops it over the middle to Leavers guy Dylan Bell.
00:12:16Let him a little too much at the 39.
00:12:18And the Vikings go three and out.
00:12:20So the wide receiver wide left was 40, Terrell Davis.
00:12:25Chambliss wears 40.
00:12:26Obviously, they can't be in the game at the same time.
00:12:28And you wonder why people say preseason special teams is a rodeo.
00:12:35Because you've got two guys who play special teams.
00:12:37They both wear 40.
00:12:39Yeah, it can be a little confusing.
00:12:40You remember those days, Pete, right?
00:12:42I mean, not only just as a player, but also as a coach.
00:12:44I mean, how chaotic it was having these 90 guys on the sidelines,
00:12:47especially for special teams.
00:12:49And a lot of people aren't aware of that.
00:12:52You can only wear certain numbers in certain positions.
00:12:55Brett Corson, the Ray Guy Award winner, with a wonderful, wonderful punt.
00:13:00Bounces at the 20 inside the 15.
00:13:03And the rookie banged another one inside the 20.
00:13:07It'll be out of bounds at about the 12-yard line.
00:13:10Broncos lead 3-0 final preseason game.
00:13:13It's the first quarter from Denver on the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:13:19Welcome back to the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:13:213-0 Denver.
00:13:23Denver has the ball.
00:13:24And courtesy of Twin Cities Orthopedics, here's our player profile.
00:13:28And let's focus on linebacker Jacob Roberts for more on the sideline.
00:13:32Here's Tatum.
00:13:33People not believing in Jacob Roberts has only made him stronger.
00:13:37Now stick with me on this journey.
00:13:38He started playing football at 6 years old.
00:13:40Got cut in 7th grade.
00:13:42Got cut in 9th grade.
00:13:43Eventually playing later in high school.
00:13:45And only received two FCS college offers.
00:13:47Now he's in the NFL living out his dream.
00:13:50Thanks, Tatum.
00:13:513-0 Denver.
00:13:53Jared Stidham and Sam Ellinger will be the quarterbacks for the Broncos this evening.
00:14:02Handoff up the middle, corraled immediately by Elijah Williams.
00:14:07And the aforementioned Jacob Roberts with a nice run fit there.
00:14:12It's going to be no gain, making it 2nd and 10.
00:14:14This quarterback for the Denver Broncos, guys, Jared Stidham.
00:14:18How about that spot he got put in last year?
00:14:20I mean, the Broncos might be going to the Super Bowl.
00:14:23Bo Nix looks great.
00:14:24Breaks his ankle in the divisional round.
00:14:26And Stidham, who had made four starts in his career before that, he had to play.
00:14:31He went 17 of 31 for 133, a touchdown and a pick.
00:14:36I mean, that's a tough spot.
00:14:38He lost to New England and to the Patriots eventually to lose to Seattle in the Super Bowl.
00:14:42On second down, Handoff goes to the left side.
00:14:46Ooh, some very, very shifty moves there by Bade.
00:14:51It's a gain of 10 yards and a first down for Denver.
00:14:54Yeah, this is an example of Chuck Demings being the exact right position.
00:14:58He makes the running back cut back.
00:15:00It's okay to miss out there, but you got to have pursuit coming inside out.
00:15:04So, Tyler Batty, got to stay off the ground.
00:15:07You got to get more than one guy to the football.
00:15:10First down for Denver from its own 22-yard line.
00:15:15Rookie Brett Thorson's punt, by the way, was 54 yards,
00:15:18pinning Denver right around the 10-yard line.
00:15:21Third inside the 20 this preseason from Thorson.
00:15:24Bade wiggles his way up the middle again across the 25
00:15:29and is stopped at the 30-yard line.
00:15:32That'll be a run of eight after a run of 10 by the aforementioned Bade.
00:15:37Marcus Allen, undrafted rookie from North Carolina, brought him down.
00:15:41Yeah, you don't like to see right now this offensive line
00:15:44sort of established in the run game.
00:15:46Big run on the perimeter, and now they sort of peel open
00:15:48the inside part of our defensive front,
00:15:50which we're hoping those guys with Big Citrus and Caleb,
00:15:53that does not happen very often in the regular season.
00:15:56Second and two, Stidham under center.
00:15:59Kamara blitzes, it's picked up.
00:16:01Stidham throws left, and it's caught.
00:16:03There was a blown tackle.
00:16:05First down for the Denver Broncos.
00:16:07Denver Broncos offense got a little juice.
00:16:10Strader, the running back, leaked left flat,
00:16:13catching a run of 18, first down.
00:16:15Yeah, I think you're looking at Jacoby Thomas,
00:16:17who made that play right there.
00:16:19You know, this is his first extensive action this preseason,
00:16:22and you can already see, I think, the altitude,
00:16:25and he's getting subbed out right now.
00:16:27He was kind of signaling to the sideline.
00:16:29He needed a little bit of a breather,
00:16:30but I think with the special teams,
00:16:32the altitude and not being in football shape,
00:16:34and maybe he took a little ding on that hit as well,
00:16:36he's going to take a breather.
00:16:38Cody Schrader, third year from Missouri.
00:16:40Four runs, 15 yards versus Green Bay.
00:16:43First down, offset, I right.
00:16:45Stidham, straight drop.
00:16:47All kinds of time running away from Elijah Williams.
00:16:51Plants, fires, single coverage, incomplete.
00:16:55Chuck Demings on the coverage,
00:16:57and Lil' Jordan Humphrey,
00:17:00the veteran Lil' Jordan Humphrey,
00:17:02was deep for the Denver Broncos.
00:17:05Incomplete, second and ten.
00:17:07A fantastic play by Chuck Demings
00:17:09because he's working inside that receiver.
00:17:11The receiver breaks out and then across the middle,
00:17:13and he's able to put his body back in position.
00:17:16These big-bodied wide receivers
00:17:18can't push Chuck Demings around,
00:17:20and then many stayed with it.
00:17:21As the quarterback's rolling out,
00:17:23he just pasted his coverage
00:17:25and carried him all the way across the field,
00:17:26so that was a good rep for Chuck Demings.
00:17:29Second and ten for Denver.
00:17:30Stidham from under center again.
00:17:32Again, Golday comes blitzing in.
00:17:35Stidham, he's going to throw flat left,
00:17:37caught first down.
00:17:39Big hit delivered, I believe, by Taveir Thomas,
00:17:42but it was Cody Schrader, third-year Missouri,
00:17:4612-yard catcher run,
00:17:47and another first down for the Denver Broncos.
00:17:50Yeah, they kind of have our defenses on the heels right now,
00:17:53but again, I'm kind of keying in on Jake Golday
00:17:56and sort of where he lines up.
00:17:58Pretty impressive so far.
00:17:59We've heard about how he's picked up this defense so far
00:18:01in this preseason.
00:18:02He's calling the defense right now in the huddle,
00:18:05and then he's lining up all over the field.
00:18:07Left-out side linebacker.
00:18:08Sometimes he's...
00:18:17So then on the series before the first series of the game,
00:18:21on the passing down,
00:18:22he was actually lined up on the inside part,
00:18:24inside Tyler Batty,
00:18:26who was the outside linebacker on the right side,
00:18:28and then that last play,
00:18:29he was an inside linebacker,
00:18:31blitzing into that B-gap,
00:18:32so you never know where you're going to find Jake Golday.
00:18:35Now, that big hit actually was Khalid Pailassi.
00:18:39It wasn't Tave or Thomas.
00:18:40And after the penalty,
00:18:42it's first and five for the Denver Broncos from the Vikings, 35.
00:18:46Denver leads 3-0, 6-14,
00:18:48and counting to go in the first quarter.
00:18:50Here's a handoff.
00:18:52Schrader with some juice inside the numbers across the 30.
00:18:56Hitted the 27, stopped at the 26.
00:18:59And that's a gain of nine yards and a first down.
00:19:02So, this Cody Schrader, his last three plays from scrimmage,
00:19:0710, I'll make that 18-8-9.
00:19:10Yeah, Denver's definitely, they got some game planning here.
00:19:13And what do you do against a team that likes to blitz?
00:19:15Well, you bootleg.
00:19:16You do all kinds of misdirections, things like that.
00:19:18They've been successful.
00:19:20It's a question that we're going to be,
00:19:21are we going to stay as aggressive as we have early?
00:19:23First and 10, 3-0 Denver.
00:19:28Stidham keeps.
00:19:29Gets a block at the 20.
00:19:32Lowers the shoulder on Zamiah Vaughn.
00:19:34Now, Vaughn won the battle, but Stidham won the wall
00:19:38because he got eight yards on the run, second is short.
00:19:41Well, and that's exactly the type of plays you're talking about, Pete,
00:19:44is they're just keeping us off balance.
00:19:45They have a quarterback run game here.
00:19:48Bo Richter is a right outside linebacker.
00:19:50He's a little bit in conflict because he wasn't quite sure
00:19:52if he should take that lead blocker on on the outside.
00:19:55He chose the inside, and that absolutely sprung.
00:19:58Stidham to go with Scott Free around the right defensive side.
00:20:00Wide receiver man, Jack, out there blocking for him.
00:20:04Stidham.
00:20:05McLaughlin up the middle.
00:20:07Nothing on second and one.
00:20:12And getting up from the bottom of the pile, Isaiah Loudermilk.
00:20:16Timeout for a rental minimum.
00:20:19Jacob Roberts also in the mix.
00:20:25Javari Ritzy getting in on there on that play as well.
00:20:29That's what Denver's kind of doing.
00:20:31They're trying to just, you know, let the plays develop,
00:20:34make the running backs have some patience.
00:20:36It's our first virtual measurement of the preseason, by the way.
00:20:39Oh, here we go.
00:20:39Super exciting.
00:20:40When's the last one that we had?
00:20:41Did we have one last year?
00:20:42I don't know.
00:20:44Gamers.
00:20:46I can tell you.
00:20:47Countrywide, get excited.
00:20:48I can tell you from here.
00:20:49I know.
00:20:50Just think about the amount of time we're watching this virtual measurement
00:20:53when we could have had the chain game just run out and measure it already
00:20:56and be all the way back on the sideline.
00:20:57And again, missed it.
00:21:001.7 inches.
00:21:03It's so silly.
00:21:04By the way, in fairness, Bill Vinovich is the referee,
00:21:07one of the better refs in the NFL, in my opinion.
00:21:10There are going to be, this is into week three of the preseason,
00:21:15more virtual measurements than the first two weeks
00:21:18because the referees are there.
00:21:20They want to test it out, get themselves all ready for the regular season.
00:21:25So we've had our first, and it's third and short for the Denver Broncos.
00:21:314.48 and counting to go in the first quarter.
00:21:34Denver leads 3-0.
00:21:35Prentice in motion to the right, skid him, back to pass.
00:21:38Now he plants, throws to the left side of the field,
00:21:41tied in Atkins uncovered, caught at the 9
00:21:45and stopped by special teams whiz, Tapajir Thomas at the 6.
00:21:50It's a 9-yard catch.
00:21:52First and goal, Denver.
00:21:53Yeah, Denver's definitely taken advantage.
00:21:56As they bring in the heavy personnel,
00:21:58you see the Vikings only have three defensive backs on the field,
00:22:01so what do they do?
00:22:02They play fake, right, in that situation.
00:22:05So Denver is really, I think, taking advantage of the play calling
00:22:09and just having a great game plan going into this preseason game.
00:22:14Stidham, 4 of 7, 63 yards.
00:22:18First and goal.
00:22:20Bandy, the veteran, catches the swing wide right at the 10,
00:22:24reaches for the end zone, but he did not get there.
00:22:27And he's out of bounds at the 1.
00:22:29So it'll be second and goal from inside the 1.
00:22:34Michael Bandy, 5th year from San Diego, had a touchdown for the Broncos last year.
00:22:39Yeah, again, what the Broncos are doing really well and we're not doing on the other side
00:22:45is they're engaging the blocks up front and we're just not getting off.
00:22:48We're engaging with them.
00:22:50We're beating to the point of attack,
00:22:51but we are not getting off the blocks and affecting any play so far in this drive.
00:22:55Second and goal from the 1.
00:22:57Stidham under center.
00:22:58Prentice in front of McLaughlin.
00:22:59And the fullback gets the call.
00:23:01And the fullback says,
00:23:03that's all!
00:23:04Right to the end zone.
00:23:06Touchdown, Denver.
00:23:07An 88-yard touchdown drive.
00:23:10And the Denver Broncos have taken a 9-0 lead.
00:23:13Yeah, no trickery on that play.
00:23:15That was just north and south.
00:23:16And then the fullback just bouncing on outside until he sees daylight.
00:23:19So the gap in between Dominique Orange and the safety.
00:23:24So a little softness in there.
00:23:27You got a big body on a safety.
00:23:28Maybe not ideal.
00:23:30Maybe we'd substitute in the regular season.
00:23:31I don't know.
00:23:32But Broncos punching in.
00:23:34Will Lutz, the former Saint.
00:23:374 of 4 on extra points this preseason.
00:23:40Snap spot.
00:23:43And the Denver Broncos have a 10-0 first quarter lead.
00:23:47Three and a half minutes to go from Denver.
00:23:49This is Minnesota Vikings football.
00:23:55Yo, it's Vikings preseason football.
00:23:57Courtesy of the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:23:59Thank you, Quick Trip.
00:24:00We have some trivia.
00:24:01What is the point differential between the Vikings and Broncos
00:24:04across the team's 16 regular season matchups?
00:24:10Chew on that a little bit.
00:24:13After the Broncos win 12 plays, 88 yards.
00:24:17Took about six and a half minutes.
00:24:18Adam Prentice.
00:24:20Adam Prentice, the veteran fullback with his second preseason touchdown.
00:24:29Boom.
00:24:31End-over-end, Claiborne from the five.
00:24:34We'll see something good from DeMond here.
00:24:36Head to the left, 20, 25, 30.
00:24:39Hit by a Bronco at the 30 and take it down right there.
00:24:42Quick trip.
00:24:43Quick trip trivia.
00:24:45There's the question.
00:24:47There's the question.
00:24:48And the answer is...
00:24:55I thought it's zero.
00:24:56I'm going to say 42.
00:24:58It's eight.
00:25:00Eight-eight overall record.
00:25:03Yeah, they've had some tight ones here.
00:25:06Not an easy place to play.
00:25:08Carson Wentz.
00:25:11With 3.22 to go in the first quarter.
00:25:13Denver leads 10-0.
00:25:17Shotgun.
00:25:18Claiborne.
00:25:21Plunging.
00:25:22Gained him about three seconds to seven.
00:25:24Now, J.J. McCarthy is not playing this evening.
00:25:27And for those of you who follow the news, and we have great beat writers,
00:25:31J.J. did not practice Wednesday due to an ankle.
00:25:34And the way Kevin O'Connell put it is they're going to keep him out that day
00:25:39and see how it, quote, turns over, end quote.
00:25:43And according to the team today, it's a minor day-to-day injury.
00:25:47But J.J. didn't feel up to playing tonight.
00:25:50So, therefore, discretion being the better part of valor.
00:25:53There will be no J.J. McCarthy tonight.
00:25:55Max Brosner follows Carson Wentz.
00:26:01Blags.
00:26:06Mutual's load of practice.
00:26:07Number 90.
00:26:08Defense.
00:26:09Five-yard penalty.
00:26:11Second down.
00:26:12Jordan Miller.
00:26:14Nose tackle from SMU.
00:26:17That's one of the things you want out of a veteran quarterback in Carson Wentz,
00:26:20the ability to hard count.
00:26:21That just, it takes a while to learn that.
00:26:24So, running the huddle, getting the plays out correctly, hard count, managing the game,
00:26:29those are all things that you expect out of Carson Wentz.
00:26:32And you've got to use all the tools available in a game when you're down by ten points.
00:26:36It is 10-0 Denver, deep in the first quarter.
00:26:39Offset I-Weth behind Wentz.
00:26:42Dylan Bell in motion to the right.
00:26:44You'll hear more about him shortly.
00:26:46Wentz sidearm.
00:26:47And it's caught by Chaz Jambliss.
00:26:49Chaz Jambliss.
00:26:51Look at Aaron jump.
00:26:52Look at the bench go crazy.
00:26:53For the edge guy catching a pass.
00:26:56And amassing a first down.
00:26:58Well done.
00:27:00Pete and I were both looking at that play in real time.
00:27:03And Ben Yarosik was running a little seven route towards the sideline.
00:27:07And on second, very manageable.
00:27:09We're like, oh, take the shot.
00:27:11Take the shot to the tight end on the sideline.
00:27:14But love to see Jambliss get his first reception.
00:27:16Absolutely.
00:27:17Dylan Bell wide left.
00:27:19Ty Felton wide right.
00:27:20First and ten for the Vikings with two minutes to go in the first quarter.
00:27:24A couple of tight ends.
00:27:26They're both to the left side.
00:27:29Jorosik and Bartholomew.
00:27:30Botch snap.
00:27:31Wentz falls on it.
00:27:33And that's back to the 39-yard line.
00:27:36That's going to be a loss of about four yards.
00:27:38For more on Dylan Bell undrafted from Georgia, here's Tatum.
00:27:42I know you guys love Dylan Bell.
00:27:44And Dylan Bell is happy to be back in the purple and gold.
00:27:46He wore those colors in high school where he actually went to school
00:27:49with Vikings wide receivers coach, Keaton McCardell's daughter.
00:27:52He told me that they share some Houston similarities.
00:27:54Same sense of humor.
00:27:56Same types of food.
00:27:57But he also told me back when he was playing youth football, they called him Little AP, Adrian Peterson,
00:28:03who's his favorite player in the NFL.
00:28:05He says he gets a lot of his traits from him, like his physicality.
00:28:08Wow.
00:28:09That's quite the comparison right there.
00:28:11Talking about all day.
00:28:14Bartholomew's screen left.
00:28:16It had the makings to be something very nice.
00:28:19He'll end up at the 45-yard line.
00:28:21It's a gain of six yards.
00:28:23And for Gavin Bartholomew, who missed all of last year with a back injury,
00:28:27that's his second preseason catch.
00:28:29It now is third and eight.
00:28:31But I thought that thing might get a first down.
00:28:34Yeah, it looked like if you'd have played a little bit more patiently,
00:28:36you might have been able to get some more.
00:28:37But for Gavin Bartholomew, that's great.
00:28:40He was used all over the place at Pitt.
00:28:43He was a Wildcat quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, showing some of that athleticism.
00:28:49Terrell Davis, the other 40, slot right.
00:28:53Wentz.
00:28:57Caught.
00:28:5850, shy of the first down.
00:29:01Wentz threw a bit to the right side to Bartholomew, gain a five.
00:29:06Yeah, and you'd like to see Gavin actually get to the sticks.
00:29:10And if he has to come back just slightly, then maybe a little bit run after a catch,
00:29:14he could pick up that first down.
00:29:15But now they're seeing that fourth and three, which is a tough call right here on the 50.
00:29:21That'll take us to the end of the quarter, unless Sean Payton wants to call a timeout.
00:29:28Bill Vinovich.
00:29:30That is the end of the fourth quarter.
00:29:32All right, 10-0 Denver.
00:29:34Vikings have the ball probably going for it on fourth down
00:29:37when we return to the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:29:44Yo.
00:29:45Welcome back, courtesy of the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:29:48We are at Empower Field in beautiful Denver, Colorado.
00:29:53And the Broncos into the second quarter lead the Vikings 10-0.
00:29:57Minnesota looking at a fourth and three from the 50-yard line and have opted to punch.
00:30:04Johnny Hecker is going to get an opportunity.
00:30:07The veteran, former Panther, Titan, and Ram after Brett Forsen, the Georgia rookie of Australian descent,
00:30:17Ray Guy award winner for the best punter in the country last year.
00:30:21His first punt went 54 yards, landed inside the 20, in fact, at the 13.
00:30:27So, Forsen has three punts this preseason inside the 20.
00:30:32And Johnny Hecker with his first opportunity tonight, 15th year from Oregon State.
00:30:38Spent last year with the Tennessee Titans after three with the Carolina Panthers.
00:30:42Johnny Hecker has three punts inside the 20 also this preseason.
00:30:52Andrew DePaula with the snap endover and punt fielded at the five-yard line.
00:31:01Good coverage by the Vikings to the 15.
00:31:04Flag comes in late.
00:31:06That was Kyrie's Rowan, first full year from Utah State.
00:31:14You know, Pete, I was going to ask you something I noticed.
00:31:16It's kind of hard to not see Jacoby Thomas out there because he's wearing the...
00:31:22After the play was over, it was over.
00:31:23Personal foul.
00:31:24Personal foul.
00:31:25Late hit.
00:31:25Late hit.
00:31:26Tinky Tito 52.
00:31:2815.
00:31:30First down.
00:31:31First down.
00:31:31Time out.
00:31:32Time out.
00:31:32Josh Ross.
00:31:34Backup linebacker.
00:31:36All right, let's break.
00:31:3610-0 Denver Broncos ball.
00:31:39Back shortly.
00:31:40Second quarter on the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:31:45Welcome back to the Vikings Entertainment Network and a beautiful Friday night in Denver,
00:31:50Colorado.
00:31:51Just into the second quarter, Broncos lead 10-0.

00:32:18Josh Metellus starting safety for the Vikings, not playing tonight.
00:32:21Great job last week being mic'd up.
00:32:23New quarterback for the Broncos, Sam Ellinger, six-year from Texas.
00:32:28Sacked a couple of times against the Green Bay Packers.
00:32:31And the handoff goes to Tyler Bidet, fourth year from Missouri.
00:32:39It'll be a game of maybe a yard, about second and nine.
00:32:42Ellinger, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions through two preseason games.
00:32:48He made three starts for the 2022 Indianapolis Colts.
00:32:52One of them was not at U.S. Bank Stadium and a 33-0 lead at halftime.
00:32:59That was Matt Ryan.
00:33:00But Ellinger was on the team.
00:33:02And he goes out of the shotgun.
00:33:04Receivers left and right.
00:33:07Bidet.
00:33:08Jump cut right.
00:33:13And Loudermilk wraps him up around his knees.
00:33:15Game of two, third long.
00:33:17Yeah, better job by a defensive front in maintaining gap control
00:33:20as the Broncos continue to try to have that patient running game to go back and play.
00:33:25I just wanted to point out Chuck Demings in and run support.
00:33:27We put our corners in run support probably as much, if not more,
00:33:31than any other defense in the league.
00:33:33And so you need guys out there that can tackle.
00:33:35And Chuck can do that.
00:33:37Jared Stidham finished six of nine, 71 yards.
00:33:40He led two scoring drives.
00:33:43One a touchdown by fullback Adam Prentice.
00:33:45The other a field goal by Will Lutz.
00:33:47Third down.
00:33:48Broncos two of three on third down.
00:33:49A pass left.
00:33:52Intercepted by the Minnesota Vikings.
00:33:55Ellinger hung one up there.
00:33:57And it was picked off.
00:33:59Picked off by Khalif Halassi.
00:34:03And the Vikings have turned over the Broncos.
00:34:05Boy, that was a thing of beauty.
00:34:09Khalif was just sitting there as a too high safety.
00:34:11He was very patient.
00:34:13It's almost like he knew exactly what the quarterback was looking at.
00:34:17And it was just baiting him.
00:34:18Go ahead and throw that.
00:34:20I got lots of time as this ball goes down the field to make a break on it.
00:34:23It was a perfectly executed, two-high-shell safety look.
00:34:28And he breaks on the ball perfectly.
00:34:30Yeah, he was breaking before that football was even in the air.
00:34:33And when that happens, that means it's great anticipation.
00:34:36It's understanding what the offense is trying to do.
00:34:38It's flat and a seven-round coming in behind it.
00:34:40And he was right there.
00:34:41So, that's a huge play for Khalif Halassi.
00:34:45Again, third preseason game.
00:34:47I understand it.
00:34:48But the coaches are going to remember it.
00:34:51Yeah.
00:34:52A third interception this preseason for the Vikings.
00:34:55The other two went to the Jacobs at MetLife Stadium.
00:34:58Marshall Lang in motion to the right.
00:35:00Max Brosmer, the quarterback.
00:35:01And he'll throw it to Lang.
00:35:03Throws low.
00:35:04Lang, the former Seahawk, brings it in at the 40.
00:35:06And he rambles to the 37-yard line.
00:35:09Catch and run by Marshall Lang of about eight yards, second and two.
00:35:15Max Brosmer, second year for Minnesota against Baltimore.
00:35:19He went 11 of 17, zero TDs and a pick.
00:35:22He was sacked a couple of times.
00:35:24The thing I like about Marshall Lang is he's scrappy.
00:35:27Has he got to get a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger?
00:35:29Yeah, in all those regards.
00:35:31But I'll tell you what, man.
00:35:32He blocks to the whistle, and I like the fight in him.
00:35:36Lang in motion to the right.
00:35:38Brosmer to Claiborne on second and short.
00:35:40And he darks up the middle for a Minnesota Vikings first down to about the 35-yard line.
00:35:46DeMond to Claiborne, sixth-round rookie from Wake Forest.
00:35:51Against the Baltimore Ravens, like many Vikings offensive performers,
00:35:56kind of a nondescript game.
00:35:58Eight runs, 18 yards.
00:36:01At Wake Forest, he ran for 26 touchdowns, and he caught a couple.
00:36:05He also had two kick-return touchdowns.
00:36:08First down, Brosmer goes under center.
00:36:10The center is still Joe Huber.
00:36:13Claiborne in the tailback.
00:36:14He gets the call.
00:36:15Spurks up the middle, across the line of scrimmage, right side,
00:36:19following the blocking of Huber.
00:36:21And he's taken down at the 32, gain of three, second to seven.
00:36:24Isn't it interesting just the role that momentum has in football games?
00:36:28You go back to that interception.
00:36:29That interception was set up because we stopped a run, finally, on first and second down.
00:36:34Good run fits.
00:36:35Put them in a third and long situation.
00:36:37We get the interception.
00:36:39And then two plays.
00:36:40We move the chains.
00:36:41And then that last play, although it wasn't a big chunk run play,
00:36:44we're kind of pushing and controlling the line of scrimmage now as an offensive line.
00:36:48Second and seven, Brosmer shotgun, Claiborne by his side, two receivers left.
00:36:53Brosmer goes right, throws high to Bartholomew, caught,
00:36:56and knocked out of bounds at the 32-yard line, gain maybe of a yard.
00:37:01It'll be third and right around five or six.
00:37:04Kevin O'Connell, head coach of the Minnesota Vikings for a third consecutive year,
00:37:08he's going to join the broadcast for the entire third quarter mic'd up.
00:37:13Now, Kevin will have an earpiece in one ear where he can hear the play calls
00:37:19by offensive coordinator Wes Phillips.
00:37:21In the other ear, he'll hear the broadcast.
00:37:23So, make sure you find that in the third quarter.
00:37:27KO, mic'd up on the sideline, third down.
00:37:31Brosmer, shotgun, flags, Broncos blitz, fastball left, caught.
00:37:38Terrell Davis spins away from a Bronco at the 20.
00:37:41Out of bounds at about the 16 for a first down, pending in fraction.
00:37:47Boy, these 40s are making plays tonight for the Vikings.
00:37:51Illegal formation.
00:37:53Offense.
00:37:53Offense.
00:37:54Number 81.
00:37:57High-yard penalty.
00:37:59Third down.
00:38:01Oh, geez.
00:38:04And those are the kinds of penalties that just kill you when you're coaching
00:38:07because you do everything right, you get the first down, someone makes a great play.
00:38:11But if you can't line up right, Ben, it's hard to keep a guy on the field.
00:38:16Well, I mean, not only that, we actually picked up the blitz.
00:38:20Everything just, like, looked like it was perfectly executed.
00:38:25And we make a play on the outside and move the chains.
00:38:27And now we're back again, third and long.
00:38:28Third and 11, Bartholomew in motion to the left.
00:38:31Brosmer, shotgun, four receiver, set, three to the left.
00:38:34It's a screen to Dylan Bell.
00:38:36He didn't like it.
00:38:37So he circumnavigates to the right side.
00:38:39He stutter steps at the 35, pedal to the metal at the 32,
00:38:44and he's out of bounds at the 29.
00:38:46So after all that, seven, maybe eight yards for Dylan Bell.
00:38:50And the Vikings scrimmage from the Broncos' 28-yard line.
00:38:56And Will Reichard is heading in to give the Vikings some points.
00:39:01Trailing 10-0.
00:39:0410-15 and counting to go in the first half.
00:39:09Rookie Brett Forsen holds, never held at Georgia.
00:39:13Done a good job in the preseason.
00:39:15And Will Reichard kicking for the Minnesota Vikings.
00:39:23Snap spot.
00:39:25The kick is up and the kick is good.
00:39:29It's a 46-yard hit by Will Reichard,
00:39:33who has not missed in the preseason.
00:39:369-51 to go in the first half.
00:39:3810-3 Denver.
00:39:39It's Vikings football.
00:39:45Welcome back to the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:39:47Minnesota goes six plays and 18 yards, three and a half minutes.
00:39:52Will Reichard hit a 46-yard field goal.
00:39:54Will Reichard, 4-of-4 on field goals in the preseason.
00:39:58He has makes now a 46-52-and-54.
00:40:03And he finished 20-25, making 19 consecutive field goals.
00:40:07I mean, what are we on to do with this kicker?
00:40:10I know.
00:40:10It's amazing that all you've got to do is get to the 40-yard line and you're almost automatic.
00:40:15It's really almost scary.
00:40:16Will Reichard has been unbelievably big for this offense.
00:40:2110-3 Denver.
00:40:23Reichard's kick end-over-end.
00:40:25Katzis, who had a 40-yard kick return against Green Bay last week.
00:40:29Hits to the right side.
00:40:30Weaves to the 20.
00:40:31Gets to the 30.
00:40:32Reichard's in front of him and shoves him out of bounds.
00:40:34At the Broncos' 45-yard line.
00:40:39Colby Katzis has some good return skills to him.
00:40:43Once again, had a 40 against Green Bay.
00:40:47And that long one goes for 46 versus the Vikings.
00:40:52I don't know about you guys, but when I saw him lined up with Reichard, I'm like,
00:40:54Reichard, just get out of the way, dude.
00:40:57Is that worth it, man?
00:40:59It's not worth it.
00:41:00You're Mr. Automatic.
00:41:01You're a monster.
00:41:02You're one of the best kickers in the league.
00:41:03You're like, in this preseason game, we don't need you out there sticking your head there.
00:41:07So glad he was able to push him out of bounds.
00:41:10Ellinger, 0 of 1.
00:41:13And he hands it off to Schrader.
00:41:18And Schrader gouges the center of the Vikings' defense.
00:41:22Hits to the left for an 11-yard gain and another first down.
00:41:25Third preseason game, but, I mean, they're running for a good clip.
00:41:29Yeah, they really are.
00:41:31They're kind of exploiting our second level right now.
00:41:33Our guys on the front aren't doing a great job of disengaging from the blocks.
00:41:37But even on that particular play, Jacob Roberts has got to rock back once he sees that lead blocker coming
00:41:41back on that cutback.
00:41:4260 yards rushing for Denver into that play.
00:41:47Didn't get nearly that much with Schrader.
00:41:49Left side for a game of two, second and eight.
00:41:52Nine minutes to go in the first half.
00:41:5410-3 Denver.
00:41:57Another nice play by Jabari Ritzy, who has made one earlier, or a drive or two earlier.
00:42:04So that's the thing, is tackling is so important.
00:42:07And that's really, but it's not like we haven't had guys where they're supposed to be.
00:42:09It's just we haven't tackled at the point of attack.
00:42:12And in that case, Ritzy does a great job.
00:42:14Cody Schrader, the single set.
00:42:17Cameron Ross, wide receiver left.
00:42:20Ellinger, play action.
00:42:21Rolls out to the right.
00:42:22Throws center of the field.
00:42:24And it's caught at the 27-yard line.
00:42:28On the reception for the Denver Broncos, Cameron Ross, undrafted rookie from Virginia.
00:42:36He has a 28-yard run this preseason.
00:42:40And that's the long for the Denver Broncos.
00:42:43It was an end around.
00:42:44He got six on that play, making it third and two.
00:42:48Ellinger goes under center.
00:42:50Schrader still the tailback.
00:42:51Eight minutes to go in the first half of the final preseason game.
00:42:54Ross in motion to the left.
00:42:56Ellinger boots out to the right.
00:42:58Loops it to Schrader.
00:42:59First down.
00:43:00Caught at the 23.
00:43:01Toe-tapping the sideline at the 15.
00:43:04And the Denver Broncos have another first down.
00:43:07It'll be first and ten from the 12-yard line.
00:43:10After a catch-and-run of 12.
00:43:13When you're a mile high and you're facing a lot of plays,
00:43:17defense been on the field almost the entire first half.
00:43:20And you still got to remember your responsibilities, right?
00:43:23Fatigue is tough to overcome, but you have to be able to know what you're doing out there.
00:43:29And it's just another mental mistake by the defense.
00:43:32McLaughlin.
00:43:33Now the tailback.
00:43:35First down.
00:43:36Middle of the second quarter.
00:43:39Ross in motion to the right.
00:43:40Back to the left.
00:43:41They give it to Ross.
00:43:42Vikings snipped it out.
00:43:44Wide receiver gets nothing.
00:43:46Zamiah Vaughn started it.
00:43:48Kenny Dyson Jr.
00:43:50He finished it off.
00:43:51It'll be a loss of seven yards.
00:43:53Second is 17 for Denver.
00:43:56Yeah, I mean, that is the one theme that we're seeing here by the Broncos.
00:43:59Everything's very much horizontal.
00:44:01They're really getting to the perimeter, making our guys have to run.
00:44:05Yes, their offensive line has to run as well to set up those boot plays,
00:44:08but they're built for this.
00:44:09They're built for this altitude.
00:44:10You can see our defense is really sucking wind right now because they're covering a lot of grass.
00:44:16Ellinger out of the shotgun.
00:44:19A couple of receivers right, second and 17.
00:44:22Here's a big pass rush.
00:44:23He sidearms it left to Jaleel McLaughlin.
00:44:27Flag on the play.
00:44:28Turns it up 15.
00:44:29Another flag late.
00:44:30And McLaughlin rallies to the seven-yard line.
00:44:35So, unofficially a 12-yard catch and run.
00:44:39Don't know what the penalties are.
00:44:40Props to Ellinger, though, for even getting that pass off.
00:44:44Yeah, let's get a hold here, shall we?
00:44:46I think it's on Deming.
00:44:46You know, Deming's got held.
00:44:48Holding, holding.
00:44:48Offensive 32.
00:44:50Holding, holding.
00:44:51Ten-yard penalty.
00:44:52Feet, second up.
00:44:53Holding, holding.
00:44:55In case you didn't hear him the first time.
00:44:57But this is what I'm talking about with cornerbacks on the outside
00:45:01and the ability to have to be able to tackle.
00:45:03So, Deming's looks himself inside and tries to spin out
00:45:06and was held in the process.
00:45:08So, you know, corners usually have contained.
00:45:11So, you have to get yourself out there to force a running back back in.
00:45:14So, Deming's might have been a little bit late,
00:45:16but he draws the penalty.
00:45:17So, it's a great job by him on the outside.
00:45:20Yeah, and a nice job by Tabier Thomas, too,
00:45:22sort of filling that alley and realizing that Deming's there
00:45:25and bounces back outside quickly to make the tackle.
00:45:27Dane Key undrafted from Nebraska, wide left.
00:45:35Ellinger on second and 20.
00:45:37Flares right.
00:45:38Caught McLaughlin.
00:45:39Finds a seam to the 20-yard line.
00:45:42Stopped at about the 18th.
00:45:45That'll be a gain of around four.
00:45:46Make it a third and 16th.
00:45:48Key, that Nebraska Cornhusker rookie,
00:45:51he was the one who held Deming's.
00:45:53What's interesting about him, his brother, Devon Key,
00:45:57is also on the Denver Broncos.
00:45:59He's a starting safety, and he's a Pro Bowl special teamer.
00:46:04So, the keys make up offense and defense for the Denver Broncos.
00:46:10Dane trying to make the active roster,
00:46:13and if not that, maybe the practice squad.
00:46:15The aforementioned rookie is wide right, third and 16.
00:46:19Here's a big rush.
00:46:20Ellinger gets away from the first thrust,
00:46:22then he throws it away to the right side.
00:46:25It'll be incomplete.
00:46:28And Javari Ritzi with a nice pass rush.
00:46:31Will Watson to kick.
00:46:33And Bo Richter getting in on that,
00:46:34and that's only a four-man rush.
00:46:36So, the Broncos have been able to get the Vikings
00:46:38out of being so aggressive.
00:46:40And so, when that happens,
00:46:42you worry about the pass rush, Bannon,
00:46:43but these four guys up front did a great job.
00:46:46Yeah, I mean, basically, both offenses on the last two series,
00:46:49they get down, they get some momentum going,
00:46:51and we see how penalties can just sort of kill that
00:46:54and make it really hard on the offensive coordinator
00:46:56to call some plays.
00:46:58It'll be a 37-yard try, a left hash for Will Lutz.
00:47:03But, play stoppage.
00:47:06Oh, they're going to go to the right hash.
00:47:08Did Will get to choose that?
00:47:13Lutz, one of one this game, hit from 43 earlier.
00:47:20Right foot, a kick is good.
00:47:24Five and a half minutes to go in the first half.
00:47:26Denver 13, Minnesota 3.
00:47:28From Denver, it's Minnesota Vikings football.
00:47:33Let's hear it for you from Denver.
00:47:35Courtesy of the V.E.N., welcome back to preseason game number 3.
00:47:39Denver leads 13-3.
00:47:41And we kick it down to the sidelines of Tatum Everett.
00:47:44Thank you, Paul.
00:47:45Vikings legend and pro football Hall of Famer Randy Moss
00:47:48visited training camp last week,
00:47:50spending a lot of time with the Vikings receivers.
00:47:53And he even sat in their position meetings
00:47:55sharing priceless advice.
00:47:57Miles Price lighting up when talking about
00:47:59this unbelievable experience.
00:48:01Moss sat next to him in the meeting.
00:48:02He was giving him tips, and Miles said,
00:48:04I was just eating my food.
00:48:05And he's like, hey, you right there?
00:48:07You could have given him a little bit of this instead.
00:48:08And he goes, you're right, I could have.
00:48:11And then when he's out there on the practice field,
00:48:13Randy goes up to him and gives him a little vet move.
00:48:15And now he can apply that to his game.
00:48:18I even talked to Jordan Addison about it.
00:48:20He told me it was just really cool learning from him.
00:48:22He was coaching them with tips like when they play zone,
00:48:25make sure your footwork is clean at the top of your route
00:48:27and attack the ball.
00:48:28Nice work.
00:48:29And Randy was there both days of the joint practices.
00:48:33But when he spent time in the Vikings wide receivers meeting room,
00:48:39I mean, Miles Price couldn't stop talking about it for three days.
00:48:43It's like Moss was in the meeting room with Coach Keenum and Gardell
00:48:47and all the wide receivers giving everybody pointers.
00:48:51I mean, what a thrill that must be.
00:48:53Yeah.
00:48:54I mean, Miles Price can't stop talking about anything, really,
00:48:56with the way he goes.
00:48:58But, you know what, I'll say this for Kevin O'Connell.
00:49:01You know, a tip of the hat because allowing a veteran guy to come in
00:49:06and give some pointers.
00:49:07And it may not be what Keenum and Gardell wants these guys to do,
00:49:11but they allow Randy to come in.
00:49:13And Randy, again, all business, which is kind of a sneaky part of his game.
00:49:17Man, he worked hard.
00:49:18He's all business.
00:49:19Brosmer, Fleming, speed, second down and one.
00:49:26Fleming in front of the Vikings bench.
00:49:28Kevin O'Connell making sure the ball's spotted the right way.
00:49:31K.O. joins us from the sideline, mic'd up the entire third quarter.
00:49:35That's going to be awesome.
00:49:36Second is short.
00:49:37You know what I'd like to see on this drive?
00:49:39I know that you could probably milk this clock down
00:49:42and use it to your advantage and limit the possessions
00:49:44that the Broncos get here in the first half,
00:49:46but we have not been very aggressive in the passing game.
00:49:49I would love to see us get the ball down the field at least a couple times.
00:49:53Tristan Lee in at left tackle.
00:49:56Vershawn Lee has gone to left guard.
00:49:58Walter Rouse has gone to right guard.
00:50:00And the Vikings tailback has gone to the ground.
00:50:03That's DeMond Claiborne.
00:50:05He got two yards first down.
00:50:07Yeah, let's do it right here.
00:50:08All right, we're close to the 50.
00:50:10We just picked up a fresh set of downs.
00:50:13Take a shot.
00:50:13Let's play action and take a shot just to see what it looks like
00:50:17and see who we use as a deep downfield threat.
00:50:21Claiborne in the tailback.
00:50:23Terrell Davis wide left.
00:50:26Dylan Bell slot left.
00:50:31I'll make that Dante Fleming slot left.
00:50:33Dylan Bell right hand off Claiborne.
00:50:35Hey, has some room for a second.
00:50:37Upended at the 50-yard line by Devon Key, Dane Key's brother.
00:50:45That's a gain of four.
00:50:46Second to six.
00:50:47Yeah, looks like Claiborne getting up a little bit.
00:50:50Something happened.
00:50:50He got hit in the stomach or leg.
00:50:52And we got a Bronco down, too.
00:50:54He just jumped right back up.
00:50:55So, yeah, I think the Bronco that made the initial hit on his left knee there,
00:50:59left thigh board, he's the one that took the brunt of that.
00:51:01He's still on the ground.
00:51:03And you can see Claiborne right now just trying to walk it off.
00:51:06With the SpongeBob.
00:51:07Yeah, look, he's got SpongeBob underwear on.
00:51:10All right, let's take a pause.
00:51:12Lucky draws.
00:51:13Hopefully this Bronco's okay.
00:51:144-0-7 to go in the first half.
00:51:16Denver leads 13-3.
00:51:17Back shortly on the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:51:21Beautiful downtown Denver, courtesy of the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:51:2613-3.
00:51:27The Denver Broncos have the lead over the Minnesota Vikings.
00:51:32The only touchdown we've had in the game was a drive led by veteran quarterback Garrett Stidham.
00:51:40Went 12 plays, 88 yards.
00:51:41Veteran fullback Adam Prentice plunged in from a yard out.
00:51:46Gave Denver a 10-0 lead.
00:51:49Riker then hit from 46 because he never misses.
00:51:5210-3.
00:51:53And then Will Lutz hit from 37-13-3.
00:51:55And here we are.
00:51:56Second and six from the 50.
00:51:58Brosner 4-4.
00:51:59Play action.
00:52:00Rolls out to the right.
00:52:01Throws to Bartholomew.
00:52:02Caught.
00:52:03Nifty move on the safety key.
00:52:05He sidesteps to the left of the 40.
00:52:08And he's taken down and pushed out of bounds at the 37-yard line.
00:52:11That's good for 12.
00:52:13Nice work by Gavin.
00:52:14It is.
00:52:15And we're still looking, Ben, for the number three tight end.
00:52:17That's not necessarily clear cut.
00:52:19So Bartholomew's getting himself in the mix.
00:52:23Minnesota hustles to the line of scrimmage.
00:52:25First and 10 from the Denver 38.
00:52:28Four-man rush.
00:52:29Brosner.
00:52:30Straight drop.
00:52:31Throws to the right.
00:52:32And it's caught at the 26-yard line.
00:52:34Dante Fleming.
00:52:36Right in front of his head coach.
00:52:38Kevin O'Connell.
00:52:3910-yard hit.
00:52:40First down.
00:52:40So, yeah, going back to that Bartholomew catch, that is one thing that when you're a big body
00:52:44guy like that in your athletic, you should never have a tight end that steps out of bounds
00:52:49in that situation.
00:52:49I love the fact that he showed off his sweet little footwork.
00:52:53He was able to get his feet back inbounds and get vertical.
00:52:56That was a big play by Gavin.
00:52:58Vikings going tempo.
00:52:59No huddle.
00:53:00Wes Phillips, the offensive coordinator, calling the plays.
00:53:03Pass right.
00:53:04Incomplete.
00:53:06Dillon Bell, the intended receiver, caught it.
00:53:10But according to the sideline judge, he's not completely inbounds.
00:53:15So, that'll make it second and 10 from the Denver 26-yard line.
00:53:202.50 to go in the first half.
00:53:21Yeah, Brozmer looks much improved over a week ago.
00:53:26That was a very, very sneaky throw that he got in there and nearly completed it on the
00:53:31sideline.
00:53:31So, I think Brozmer's looking much more comfortable in the pocket than he did a week ago.
00:53:36You just saw Carson Wentz.
00:53:37He started with 3 of 4, 15 yards.
00:53:40Vikings get the ball to begin the second half.
00:53:43Each team with three timeouts.
00:53:46Second and 10.
00:53:47Corner blitz picked up.
00:53:49Brozmer fires hot to the right side.
00:53:52Caught Marshall Lang dragging Broncos to the 16, maybe the 17.
00:53:58Gained a 9.
00:53:59And that'll make it third and short.
00:54:01That was really good poise there by Brozmer to see that blitz.
00:54:04Good job by the front and all the backs and tight ends picking up that blitz.
00:54:08And he just kind of stays patient and delivers an accurate strike.
00:54:14Terrell Davis, the wide receiver, 40, in motion to the left.
00:54:18Brozmer sneaking to the right side following right guard Walter Rouse.
00:54:25And that's the Minnesota Vikings first down.
00:54:28Approaching the two-minute warning and trailing 13-3.
00:54:32Once again, the Vikings get the ball to begin the second half.
00:54:36And currently have all three timeouts.
00:54:37Back shortly, Brozmer in the offense, desperately trying to get into the end zone.
00:54:43We'll have it for you around the corner on the Vikings Entertainment Network.
00:54:50Here's the kickoff, and it goes to Robinson, who takes it from the scrimmage game.
00:54:54Dude, this is a big game.
00:54:57Okay, fine.
00:54:59Whoa, you got the game?
00:55:01Yeah.
00:55:01Go, go, go.
00:55:02Are you guys watching the game?
00:55:04Yes, with an F-O+.
00:55:05We're tied.
00:55:06We're tied.
00:55:06It's fourth and goal, and the clock continues to tick.
00:55:11Oh, no.
00:55:12What will they do?

00:55:43Max Brosmer at the helm for the Minnesota Vikings, looking for their first touchdown since the
00:55:48Giants' preseason game at MetLife.
00:55:51And this will be the ninth play of a possession.
00:55:56Coach Kevin O'Connell probably hopes, leads to a touchdown, chews clock, halftime, get the
00:56:05ball to begin the second half, KO on the mic.
00:56:11Prozmer, under center.
00:56:13Joe Huber is the center.
00:56:19Claiborne, grinding to the left side for a gain of two.
00:56:23It'll make it second and eight.
00:56:24The Minnesota Vikings have entered the 3M red zone.
00:56:283M science applied to life.
00:56:34And Ben, I mean, I think you alluded to it earlier, just when you...
00:56:38Broncos called a timeout.
00:56:39As we're watching Demond Claiborne go about his work, I just can't wait for him to see
00:56:43things a little bit more clearly.
00:56:45Because right now, it's happening fast, and so much faster than you see at the college level.
00:56:49But his ability to diagnose, you just want to see him hit that gas pedal.
00:56:53We haven't had a chance yet, outside of practice, to really see him go.
00:56:57And I want the fans to see it, because it's really remarkable.
00:57:01Yeah, it's really exciting, it's electric, and, you know, you just showcase off that speed.
00:57:05But yeah, everything seems to be a little measured right now, especially in the return game.
00:57:10It seems like he's not hitting the gas pedal when he needs to.
00:57:13Second and eight.
00:57:16From the Denver Broncos, 14.
00:57:19Max Brosner, under center.
00:57:21Play action.
00:57:21Rolls out to the right.
00:57:22Dumps right flat.
00:57:24Dante Fleming, 15-10.
00:57:25First down inside the five, or at the five, and it's first and goal for the Minnesota Vikings.
00:57:32That's a nine-yard catch and run by Dante Fleming.
00:57:35Fleming is a speedster.
00:57:38First full year from Tulane.
00:57:40Spent the entire 2025 season on the practice squad.
00:57:44He's got a nice, obviously a nice drive here for our offense and for Brosmer himself.
00:57:49I mean, he's looked crisp.
00:57:50He's looked snappy.
00:57:51I like the play call.
00:57:53We're kind of keeping them a little bit off balance.
00:57:55We're getting those guys to have to think on defense, kind of like they were making our
00:57:59defense, too.
00:58:01Michael Briscoe, wide left.
00:58:03A couple of receivers left.
00:58:04First and goal from the five, Brosmer, shotgun, retreats.
00:58:10Throws it out of the end zone, and Dylan Bell was wide open.
00:58:16It's second and goal.
00:58:17Yeah, that one, that one, that one's a head scratch.
00:58:21Boom.
00:58:22There was some pressure up the middle, but for Brosmer, there's no defenders in the area.
00:58:28Just take your time.
00:58:30Take your time.
00:58:31Take your time and loft on up there and give him a chance to go up and get it.
00:58:35Yeah, you could tell that he saw him late, and he knew he was going to little chase from
00:58:40behind and just kind of sped up his process there and sails it over his head.
00:58:44Second and goal from the five, Brosmer under center, Claiborne the tailback.
00:58:50Bell in short motion to the left.
00:58:54Plags.
00:58:59Yeah, this is a hard one to put on the quarterback, right?
00:59:02Because he had short receiver motion, depending on the look they got defensively.
00:59:06You're going to either get set or motion all the way through, and it just took a while for
00:59:13the wide receiver to get himself, you know, set up.
00:59:16And when that happens, you can't snap the ball because that's illegal motion.
00:59:20So I don't know if Brosmer, what else Brosmer could have done.
00:59:26All right, so now it's second and goal from the 10.
00:59:30Briscoe and Terrell Davis wide left.
00:59:33Dylan Bell wide right.
00:59:34Briscoe in motion in front of Brosmer.
00:59:36Takes a handoff, and now he was going to swing it to DeMond Claiborne.
00:59:40But that play was snipped out from the onset, and it was Hugh Robinson.
00:59:48Hugh Robinson, second year from Alabama, roll tied.
00:59:53Fourth round pick in 2025 all over DeMond.
00:59:55So now it's third and goal from the 10.
00:59:58Yeah, really, really smart play there by Robinson defensively.
01:00:03And Pete, you and I know that when you've got peel coverage and man to man, you know, your eyes
01:00:08want to go on the quarterback in blitz.
01:00:10But if you're responsible, he wants to cross your face.
01:00:12You've got to put your feet in the ground and go track him down.
01:00:15Play clock at seven.
01:00:16Bartholomew in motion.
01:00:19Brosmer.
01:00:20Four man rush.
01:00:23Runs right.
01:00:24Cues all over him.
01:00:26Throws it out of bounds.
01:00:28Fourth and goal.
01:00:30Cue Robinson, though.
01:00:34Yeah, we were talking about how things were clean and they were efficient.
01:00:38They get down in that sort of low red zone.
01:00:41Right.
01:00:42The defense tightens up a little bit.
01:00:44They don't bring as much pressure.
01:00:45They drop a little bit more in coverage and make things a lot more cloudy for this offense.
01:00:50And that's what a deep road zone running game becomes important because it creates a little bit of separation.
01:00:57Where's those guys up front a little bit.
01:00:5928 yard try right.
01:01:01Ash.
01:01:02DePaulo snaps.
01:01:03Johnny Hecker gets this hold.
01:01:06Right.
01:01:06Dirk.
01:01:08Five of five in the preseason.
01:01:1013-6 Denver.
01:01:12Two weeks from Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings start the regular season.
01:01:17They'll do so at home courtesy of the U.S. Bank schedule.
01:01:21You start with Green Bay at home.
01:01:23You finish with Chicago at home.
01:01:25And you got a lot of meat grinders in between.
01:01:29You know, the one thing that I think is good.
01:01:31I mean, as players, we're always looking at the bi-league.
01:01:33When is it going to be?
01:01:34I mean, you clearly wanted a little bit past that halfway point.
01:01:37But I think for this team and for this offense, it really sets up nicely.
01:01:41Because, yeah, you got to get past two division opponents to start the season.
01:01:46But having that bi a little earlier in the season is going to allow KOC and the staff,
01:01:51when they go back to self scout with Kyler Murray now as the starting quarterback.
01:01:55All right.
01:01:55What do we got to change here?
01:01:57What's working?
01:01:58What's not working?
01:02:00And it's better to do that in that bi-week than let's say a week 12-5.
01:02:04I agree.
01:02:05I agree with you 100%.
01:02:06I mean, there's never a bad time for the bye, especially through your body.
01:02:09But for this offense and the question marks that you have,
01:02:12what exactly is our offense going to look like?
01:02:15How much, what is Kyler Murray going to bring to the table?
01:02:18How much is the coach and the quarterback going to meet in the middle as far as scheme goes?
01:02:22You're right.
01:02:22It gives them a good week to stop, take a breath, look back, and then attack the second half of
01:02:28the season.
01:02:28Boom.
01:02:30Rikert's kick.
01:02:31No cats this time.
01:02:34And Cameron Ross declares a touchback.
01:02:39So with a minute and a half to go in the first half, Denver has two timeouts remaining.
01:02:43The Vikings have three.
01:02:44Minnesota gets the ball to begin the second half.
01:02:48Sam Ellinger will be the quarterback for the Denver Broncos the rest of the way.
01:02:52He supplanted Jared Stidham after the veteran went two possessions and the Broncos scored each time.
01:02:59Got a field goal and a rushing touchdown.
01:03:02Vikings just went 14 plays, 55 yards.
01:03:06It took four minutes.
01:03:07Rikert from 28 making it 13-6.
01:03:11Ellinger throws right clock.
01:03:13First down at the 45-yard line just inside the numbers.
01:03:18Michael Bandy, fifth year from San Diego, 12-yard game.
01:03:23Ellinger and the Broncos in a hurry.
01:03:25Davis Webb, former NFL quarterback, offensive coordinator for the Broncos.
01:03:30He's the play caller for the Broncos.
01:03:32Ellinger throws right.
01:03:33And it was double caught.
01:03:36No signal on the field.
01:03:37Could be a fumble.
01:03:38Feels like a bobble.
01:03:40Feels like 85% of bobble incomplete.
01:03:44Indecisiveness on the field.
01:03:46Bill Vinovich jumps in and says incomplete.
01:03:52Nope.
01:03:53Nope.
01:03:54If he ever.
01:03:56Well, they're probably going to say he didn't make a football move is the whole thing.
01:04:00Poor man rush.
01:04:01Ellinger fires right caught first down at the 25-yard line.
01:04:07Now, Miami third year rookie Jacoby Thomas just had a chance to make the biggest hit he
01:04:13will have made in the National Football League.
01:04:16But game key, that rookie Husker brought it in for 26.
01:04:21And that was a textbook throw against cover two.
01:04:26You get that thing in between the safety and the corner back.
01:04:28And usually, it's a mix of both.
01:04:31A little better jam, widen that guy a little bit more, buys a little bit more time for the safety.
01:04:37But, you know, seeing Jacoby Thomas out there is fantastic, especially with the injuries that he had before.
01:04:43Hey, back to the Broncos quickly.
01:04:45So, Davis Webb, not Sean Payton, is the play caller.
01:04:49Yeah.
01:04:49Now, Sean Payton is one of the great offensive minds and play callers in the history of the NFL.
01:04:53He seeded calling plays to Davis Webb so that he could take more of a CEO approach to the Denver
01:05:02Broncos.
01:05:02I think that is a fantastic move.
01:05:05It's a selfless move by Payton.
01:05:08And Webb's probably really good at what he does.
01:05:10But it's going to give Payton an opportunity to work with all facets of the team.
01:05:17Ellinger, first and ten from the 20.
01:05:19Goes out of the shotgun.
01:05:21Jaleel McLaughlin walks up right behind the right guard.
01:05:23Snap.
01:05:25Ellinger.
01:05:26Ball's tipped to the line of scrimmage.
01:05:28Incomplete.
01:05:29Feels like it was Bo Richter.
01:05:30You know who I want to highlight right now is that big guy that just tossed the ball to the
01:05:34official, Isaiah Loudermilk.
01:05:36I don't know if he's gotten enough shine through this whole preseason.
01:05:40He got brought over by Pittsburgh Heat.
01:05:43Now, listen, he is a vet.
01:05:45I mean, he has been in the league for a while.
01:05:47But it just seems like he consistently shows up.
01:05:50Look at the way that he beat that offensive lineman.
01:05:52He plays with good length.
01:05:54I think he understands how to use his big, long arms.
01:05:57And he is always around the quarterback when it matters.
01:06:01Hellinger.
01:06:02Throws over the middle.
01:06:03McLaughlin's fast.
01:06:05Touchdown.
01:06:07They slept on Jaleel McLaughlin's speed.
01:06:11And he gets in from 20.
01:06:1419-6.
01:06:16Denver.
01:06:17And taking advantage of the underneath coverage.
01:06:19Bengali Kamara, who just, they ran a short crosser and then ran another one right behind him.
01:06:25And Kamara just kind of overruns it.
01:06:27So, it's just awareness.
01:06:30You can see that shallow crosser.
01:06:32Everybody wants to chase it.
01:06:33But you can't take your eyes off of what's coming next.
01:06:39Lutz.
01:06:45It's good.
01:06:4720-6.
01:06:49Denver.
01:06:50Let's take a peek at exactly what Pete Persich was saying.
01:06:54Well, and the thing is, it's been a problem really the whole game is our defensive backs and linebackers not
01:07:02playing with very good zone awareness.
01:07:04You know, when you get to your spot, you do have to keep your eyes not only on the quarterback
01:07:09and up and around, but you have to scan the field and understand where the threats are coming from.
01:07:13So, guys are just sort of covering grass with not having a lot of awareness of where these routes are
01:07:19going to hit in front of them or behind them.
01:07:21And so, now they have to, like, late react to a guy catching the ball full speed in open field.
01:07:27It's kind of a sneaky good play against the cover, too, just because usually when you're a linebacker and you
01:07:32see something shallow, you think something deep coming in behind them.
01:07:35But yet it was just another shallow route right behind that one.
01:07:39So, I think they expected that coverage.
01:07:41They got that coverage.
01:07:43And they converted.
01:07:44So, you know, for the Viking defense, a couple of plays going wrong to get you there.
01:07:50And, you know, you end up with that.
01:07:52And that is about.
